Sometimes, you can't get past the words to the message or the meaning. . .
Say Irrelevant Seven Times

"Irre-"
"Irrev-"
"Irrerl-"
"Irevl-"
"Irre- re- re-"
"Irrevant"
"Irrelevant!"

"Just like the days of the week are."

The sun doesn't know
How people show
The way of the day
When it's Monday.

If you go back a day,
And The Son should say,
"Just how did you
Spend your Sunday?"

Would we say
We talked to God,
Because it's His day?
Or did we just blab,
Like any other day,
Spend time making hay?
Always expecting
To own another day.

One day
Like another
For the birds,
For the trees,
And even the bees,
And the people who become them.

Wednesday
is hump day,

Thursday is another,

We live for the weekends,
Until re- re- realize,

"Tuesday's Dead."

Thanks to Cat Stevens for his song entitled "Tuesday's Dead."

The recently released Majicat DVD of his 1977 American Tour, available through Amazon.com and other locations, includes a 1971 video of a concert performance for the BBC program called "Old Grey Whistle Stop."

Cat explained, in an unplugged setting (considering he plays acoustic guitar anyhow), his song writing process experience, saying that he sometimes doesn't know what he's trying to say in his song until he gets the entire thing worked out.

What an irony! Because he stuttered in saying the word "irrelevant," actually seven times. . . I got it! Or maybe I just needed to hear him say the word seven times for his meaning to come through to me. I always liked the song, but the meaning is hidden deeply in the message of the words. I got a message!

Before he begins the song, he says, "You make up a meaning and put it to me," so I did.

Lyrics - "Tuesday's Dead"

If I make a mark in time,
I can't say the mark is mine.
I'm only the underline
of the word.
Yes, I'm like him,
just like you,
I can't tell you what to do.
Like everybody else I'm searching through
what I've heard.

Whoa, Where do you go?
When you don't want no one to know?
Who told tomorrow
Tuesday's dead

Oh preacher won't you paint my dream,
won't you show me where you've been
Show me what I haven't seen
to ease my mind.
Cause I will learn to understand,
if I have a helping hand.
I wouldn't make another demand
all my life.

What's my sex, what's my name,
all in all it's all the same.
Everybody plays a different game,
that is all.
Now, man may live, man may die
searching for the question why.
But if he tries to rule the sky
he must fall.

Now every second on the nose,
the humdrum of the city grows.
reaching out beyond the throes
of our time.
We must try to shake it down.
Do our best to break the ground.
Try to turn the world around
one more time.
Yeah, we must try to shake it down
do our best to break the ground
Try to turn the world around one more time
