The Scent of Coffee in the morning
Saturday, August 4, 2012 ~ Day 4 of the 30-Day Blogging Challenge prompt is "Supposedly our sense of smell is strong enough to take us to very distinct memories. In a poem OR a story, recount a time, place or situation when someone's olfactory sense led them back to a memory."

The scent of coffee;
the aroma of Folgers classic roast
permeates
dawn’s brisk air.

I remember,
an early spring morning
in Oklahoma.

Grandpa
is sitting at the kitchen table
rolling a cigarette,
the peculator is chanting its song,
and the aroma
of fresh brewed Folgers
perfumes
the Oklahoma dawn.
