Salad and scrambled eggs
What is wrong with salad and scrambled eggs? I know it is not tradition to eat them, but what is wrong with having them at the same meal. Someone ask me today what I wanted her to fix Mom. I said salad and scrambled eggs. Her response way “Yuck, that doesn’t sound good” or something to that effect. Anyway, she fixed eggs with toast and butter.

This is the second time I have encountered this reaction over a nontraditional food. The first time was last week and I didn’t think too much of it at the time. However, I now find this reaction upsetting. She ask me what I thought she should fix, I didn’t ask an opinion of the food. I simply stated my preferences.

I’m not sure how to respond to this type of reaction because I was taught that even if the food didn’t sound good, you were polite and didn’t give your opinion. I know I’m going to get this reaction again over something and I don’t know how to respond.

I know how I should have responded today, but, as usual, I think of the good responses after the fact and the situation usually doesn’t come up again. I should have said, “That combination has less sodium in it then anything else and Mom has to cut down on the sodium.”
