Finally! I dropped a pound! At least I know I'm not screwing something up! I did well on my points yesterday, and my nutrition. I like eating healthy its just that sometimes its a whole lot more work. I still have 30 flex points left for the week, which will probably come in handy this weekend, though I'm trying to not use them.

At the gym this morning I jogged and did stair climber again. The jogging really sucked monkey butt. It took a huge amount of self control not to decrease the speed during the last segment. But I did it! I really did. And I am going to be setup on the weights on Tuesday. Tone arms, here I come!

Total weight lost: 38.5
Lost since 1/2/06: 4.5
Pounds till next reward: 0.5!

Grrr. That half pound seems to be staying put. I'm eating right, exercising, drinking water, and sleeping, and yet it stays. *Angry* I just want to break this barrier. I've been floating around the same weight for awhile and need to start moving again. These 10 pounds, they seem to be rather stubborn. *sigh* I'm keeping at it. I just want to see that -10 next to weight lost since 1/2/06.

Food- check.
Water- check.
Exercise- 60 min eliptical, obliques, added 5 pound weight.

I used 5 flex points last night and it showed on the scale this morning, up 1/2 pound. *sigh* Well that's good motivation to not use any. Besides I have a birthday celebration to go to this weekend so I should save up for that anyway.

Went to the gym this morning. It was a jogging day again so after a 4 minute warm up I jogged for 6 minutes, walked 4, jogged 6, walked 4, jogged 6, walked 5. I need to redo my gym music though, the slow songs were really getting me down and made it much harder to jog. After the treadmill I did stair climber for 25 minutes- I climbed 96 flights of stairs! *Shock* And then 4 more at work! No wonder my butt hurts! I also did the intense upper and lower ab workout today. I'm pretty proud of my gym work. Now if all those interlopers would just quite already like I know they're going to! *Laugh*

Yesterday I completed my WW week and weighed in. Officially I lost 3 pounds in a week. Yay!!!! I also kept to my points values for the week and really worked hard at the gym.

This morning the weight is the same as yesterday morning. The gym was really hard though. I had a headache and so after 30 minutes of elliptical I switched to a reclining bike. It's hard for me to keep my heart rate up on them so I usually don't use them. However my headache did not get worse and in fact went away without drugs.

I set my mini goal for a loss of 9 pounds by January 30th, down from my Jan 2nd weight. My "big" goal is at least 36 pounds by July 22 (a friends wedding). Ah yes, no you begin to see how overweight I am... I'm doing well so far but I know I will plateau at some point. But no matter how long it takes for me to get this weight off, I will do it. Even if it takes a year or two, I will do it.

My next challenge is to start lifting weights. I've been really stepping up on the areobics and I'm losing weight, but my muscle tone is not what it once was. I just have to set aside the time to actually do that. I vow to figure out my availability and ask to be set up on the weight machines by Saturday.

Yesterday was my day off from exercise, but not my day off from good food habits. Sundays are usually very difficult for me as the morning is very full with church, and Sunday School always has delicious treats laying about. However this Sunday I made sure to eat breakfast AND I drank 32 oz of water before church. Getting enough water on Sundays has always been a problem but I did yesterday, and it helped with my eating immensely. I used on flex point at the end of the day, so I'm still way ahead on those. (21 left!)

This morning I went to the gym (which still, unfortunatly, has a lot of the Resolutioners about). I have moved on to a 6 minute jog, three times. The last 6 minutes were really tough, but I did it! Although I was dripping with sweat. I'm only going 5 mph (12 minute mile), but I figure start slow and then I can work up to my 10 minute mile or faster. I then finished out the hour with 25 minutes on the elliptical. I also upped the weight on my ab exercises today.

My weight remained steady, for which I am thankful. Anytime I see a big unexpected drop I'm always so afraid its a fluke, and that I'll gain it right back. But I didn't!!! *Bigsmile* My official weigh-in is tonight at Weight Watchers, but I rarely gain more than 1/2 a pound over the day, and most times my weight is steady.

Today I also count up my points for the "Invalid Item

I did pretty well this week!

How did I do that?! Yesterday I didn't blow my food choices, but the options certainly weren't good. I ate well for breakfast and lunch, but then I went to a baby shower. I stuck to the fruit with yogurt, but then had a small piece of cake. (6 points) No biggie, just stick to a healthy dinner. I was going to eat a salad, but the restaraunt we were going to choose was closed! *Shock* So 13 points later... Well I still have 22 of my 35 flex points for the week (which ends Monday night). But the weirdest thing was...I weighed myself this morning, and I'm down 1.5 pounds from yesterday. *Confused* Ah well, the body does what it wants, and I'll eat better today.

Ate well yesterday, used two flex points.

Went to the gym this morning and did the elliptical for 60 minutes at level 13. It was reasonably easy. I think my muscles final loosened up again. Also was able to do the intense ab workout I was doing last year. The influx of people has made it difficult to get equipment time, but today I was. *Delight*

No weight loss today, but I'm okay with that. I had popcorn (light) yesterday, which might have made me keep water. But even if I don't lose another ounce this week I'll still have lost 2.5 pounds since 1/2/06. I still rock! *Bigsmile*

Did really well food-wise yesterday. Still have not touched my Flex Points for the week! *Delight*

After 8 hours of sleep I went to the gym this morning. The soreness had gone away, but I was still a bit stiff. Still I went on with my jogging routine and did really well. The last half of my workout was going to be stair climber, but I did Elliptical instead- I was just too sore and tired at that point. I also did it at level 12. Frown I have to keep reminding myself that I'm weaker than I should be. Not only was I away from the gym for two weeks, but I was really sick during that time. But I am feeling better already. Physically I'm tired out by the end of the day- but I have more energy during the day. And I'm sleeping better at night. My weight is also dropping. While it seems to be dropping quickly I know that a lot of this is water weight I gained over Christmas, but it still feels good to see those numbers drop, and not increase!

Yesterday I got my 3 servings of veggies, at least, plus 2 of fruit. I also got my 2 servings of dairy. I drank more like 96 oz of water. I only used the 24 points I'm allotted by WW, and none of my flex points! *Delight*

This morning I was down another 1/2 pound, despite a certain time of month. (Hey, this is a woman's journal, its innevitable that I mention this.) That takes me back to my pre-Thanksgiving weight. I'm moving in the right direction again! I also got enough sleep and took my multivitamin. I rule! Although I wasn't sore yesterday from the running and stair climber I woke up sore. I did 60 minutes on the elliptical and my quads were screaming. I did take the stairs at work again. (Four flights of stairs *Sick*) Lets just say that right now I'm glad to be sitting! I've been stretching, but I'll stretch again when I get home. Tomorrow is another running day, and I am determined to make it!

Yesterday I matched all my nutritional and exercise goals. I even went back to taking the stairs at work!

This morning I again went to the gym, after a full night's sleep. I've been doing a jogging program so I can work up to jogging for 30 minute stretches without dying. Basically you walk then jog then walk then jog, etc. with longer jogs each week. I had worked up to 6 minute jogs, but I was afraid I would have to start back at the 2 minute jog. However, I was able to start at the 4 minute jog without problems! I'll do 4 minute jogs again on Friday and on Monday move on to the 6 minutes again.

I was really hungry yesterday afternoon, but managed to stay away from non-planned food. The hardest was when I was at my friend's house briefly. They always have bowls of candy just laying around, waiting to be eaten. *Sick* I had to leave quickly! *Laugh*

I'm wihin a 1/2 pound of my pre-Thanksgiving weight, which was the last time I was really serious about Weight Watchers, after only 1 day of counting points! That makes me pretty happy, and relieved that I didn't do as much damage as I could have. If you think that the average American gains 5 pounds from Thanksgiving to New Years, I'm sitting pretty. I had a long dinner with a friend last night (who also struggles with weight) and the reality is this: despite the fact that I'm still overweight I could probably live happily where I'm at, or at least I wouldn't hate myself the way I did before. But if I don't finish this and get the weight off it will come back. And THAT I can't live with. I can't go back. So in order to prevent myself from getting super fat I must get healthy. It sounds simplistic, but it really and truly is a big change in my thinking.

Pounds lost: 35!

For every five pounds I lose, starting from my January 2nd WW weigh-in my reward will be: a manicure. Nothing fancy just the hot-lotion mani with clear polish available from the local walk-in nail salon. If I lose weight fast enough it means I can always have manicured nails! Wink

Ahh, January.

Yesterday I did indeed attend Weight Watchers as I promised. I was down 1.5 pounds from Wednesday! *Delight*

I am now fully committed to journalling and point counting again. I've been fairly good about what I eat, but I haven't been tracking it.

I did exercise both yesterday and today. I've had a horrible cold which triggered an asthma attack so I haven't been able to do anything really for 2 weeks. Even climbing up the stairs was impossible. *Shock*! But I walked briskly with one short little jog yesterday for 30 minutes and this morning I got up at 5:30 and went to the gym- elliptical, 60 minutes, 5.25 miles. It was a struggle for sure! Lately I had the resistance at 13 but for minutes 30-45 I lowered it to 12. I'm still recuperating a bit, but I want to try my jogging routine again.

I also planned my meals for the day and week and have very healthy and vegetable-y meals, with enough protein as well.

I've been getting a lot of sleep lately, but last night was not so good. I got in bed at 11:30 and woke up at 5:30. Fortunatly being tired today will make going to sleep easier tonight.

I am so thankful to feel healthy again! Hopefully the cold won't have set me too far back, exercise-wise. And fortunatly Christmas didn't set me too far back either. Right now I'm 1.5 pounds up from before Thanksgiving. Pthb But that is already coming off, much of it is probably water weight. So. Good begginings!

Lost to date: 34 pounds

Edited: 12-29-2005 @ 2:07 pm EST

As 2005 winds down my thoughts naturally turn toward the future. One of my greatest hopes for myself is that I can truly continue to be healthy. And, yes, by that I mean I want to lose weight. The truth is, I'm fat. But I don't have to be. Losing weight is hard, but so is every goal that is worth attaining. There are so many reasons I want to lose weight, but in the end its because I know I deserve to have the healthiest me possbile.

Rather than focus on how much I have left to lose, I want to focus on how much I've already done. I joined Weight Watchers in June 2005, to try and get a handle on my eating habits. To some extent I have. My portion control is better, I'm eating the healthy foods that I love, and I've decreased the amount of binging. But I do still binge. And I am still fat, though I'm less fat. Many of my goals are simply continuations of habits I've already started. However they are the basis for a healthy life. I plan to also set mini goals for myself each month.

These are my goals for this journal, and for Project 2006:
*Bullet*I will track the amount of weight I've lost, not how far I still have to go.
*Bullet*I will weigh in each Monday, and record my progress in this journal.
*Bullet*I will continue to attend Weight Watchers until I am at my goal weight, following their proscribed point plan.
*Bullet*I will eat 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
*Bullet*I will drink 64+ ounces of water or herbal tea a day.
*Bullet*I will consume 2 servings of low or non-fat dairy a day.
*Bullet*I will go to the gym and exercise for 60 minutes at least 5 times a week.
*Bullet*I will get enough sleep.
*Bullet*I will learn how to not binge eat and only eat binge foods in their proper portion sizes.
*Bullet*I will be open to giving and receiving encouragment and criticism.
*Bullet*I will reward myself with something other than food.
