Trapped in a Public School
My journal. Read and enjoy.

A teenager's diary, abandoned in an old locker, somehow found its way into the janitor's closet. The beautiful cover has been ripped; the pages are beginning to fall out. How such an important piece of a teen's life could've become so violated was a mystery. In order to find out, you sat down on an old bucket and gingerly opened the decrepit book.

Author's note: This is a random journal. I usually record feelings, ideas, scraps of stories, and other literary bits and pieces in journals. So, be warned: not everything in here is true, or unoffensive to some people.

7.  Scary NightID #449357

There was a shooting about two streets away last night. I heard about it on the news. That was very scary! Then there was a power outage at my house. I wonder how exciting the rest of the day will be.

I think I want to move. Maybe I should get an apartment.

Can't you tell it's really early?

I'm back in the swing of things; I'm settling into my own routine. Is that always a good thing? You know how to use more brain cells? Change your routine. Should I have a routine? I guess so.

How much should I eat? Is a sandwich, cookies, fruit, and crackers/chips enough, or too much?

I have no clue about a lot of things.

Ah, well, life goes on....

5.  What Dads Should Know on the First Day of SchoolID #448209
Posted: 8-15-2006 @ 3:37 pm EDT

Dads should know basic math. If child a gets out of school at 2:20, lives ten mintues from the school, and needs a ride, you should get child A. Child B is at another school, ten to fifteen minutes away, and rides the bus. You and child A will get home before child B.

4.  I HATE SILVERFISH!!!!!!!!ID #447362

Edited: 8-11-2006 @ 10:36 pm EDT

My nightstand is right next to my bed. In fact, I often worry about accidentally knocking off my lamp with my pillow during the night.

So, you can imagine my shock when I go to turn on my lamp and find an inch long silverfish sitting on it.

I have used a chemical roach repellent that also works on silverfish. My lungs and I immediately regretted that decision, so I googled some environmentally friendly alternatives that won't kill me if inhaled.

I found that bay leaves and cinnamon repel sivlerfish.

It's time to head to the kitchen!

You know, this wouldn't be such a big deal if (a)my lamp and nightstand weren't adjacent to my bed and (b)this wasn't a repeat offense.

At least I didn't find roaches or ants on my lamp *shudder*.

Well, I hope you and I can both get a good night's sleep, now that's out of the way.

3.  Grapes of WrathID #447105
Posted: 8-10-2006 @ 9:47 pm EDT

I just finished reading The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck, and it made me think. Continually, the characters mention how a team of horses would be fed even when they weren't working, but people were left to starve. He also mentions that history repeats itself. People who feel oppressed will rebel against the oppressor, as has happened countless times in the past. However, those in power chose to ignore it.

Isn't that so very true? History is taught so we can learn from the mistakes of our predecessors. How many people pay attention to those lessons?

Has it ever occurred to you exactly how many genocidal acts have taken place throughout history, and still take place? After World War II, everyone was determined to prevent such an awful crime committed against a single race from happening again. Yet the same thing did happen; it happened in Rwanda. The people forgot.

History repeats itself. It is such a constant. It's an inescapable truth. History repeats itself. Humans can try to prevent it, but, ultimately, they fail. People try to learn from the mistakes of their ancestors, but they fail the lesson.

History always repeats itself.

I'm done ranting now. *Blush*

So, my city is very talented, and has decided that bicycles should ride on the road. They have to obey all traffic signals, and can't ride more than two abreast in any lane.

Sounds fair, right?

WRONG!

For all the children who are underage, is riding a bike in the street such a good idea? Plus, the bike and car accident rate is up to approximatly two per day. Then you get cars who hog the road...why can't I just ride my bike on the sidewalk?

Because the cars can't see me.

I act exactly like a good pedestrian when I ride my bike on the sidewalk. I stop at all intersections and crosswalks, alleys and parking lots, to check for cars. I wait for the walk signal before crossing the street.

So I think I should be able to ride my bike on the sidewalk.

Most of the car-bike accidents are caused by bikers who don't follow traffic signals. They don't stop at stop signs and lights, and they don't use hand signals.

I am not one of those cyclists.

GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess I'll have to ride the bus Pthb or walk to school Pthb Pthb . Joy.

"The eyes are the window to the soul."

Whoever created that saying spoke wisdom. Your eyes definitely reveal part of your soul. They're deep, dark eyes with wisdom, experience, joy, and understanding reflected in them.

Sometimes I look into your eyes and feel like a deer trapped in headlights, unable to look away. I feel so overwhelmed by this glimpse into your soul. I become trapped in it, until you turn away.

Other times you are the one ensnared. I will evenly hold your gaze, revealing power and ambition, might and vain glory, hopelessness and scars. Or I try to. I sometimes wonder if you ever see peace, hope, sorrow, homeless love, inexperience, and an inkling of knowledge and wisdom.

I could spend hours staring into your eyes, without ever uttering a single word. Your eyes share so much; there is no way to possibly know it all. It would take a lifetime to get to know your soul.

I have a lifetime to spend.
