I am attending Baker College. I will blog about my experiences class and student life. My experiences may be different from normal college students, because I am beginning school again 14 years after high school. I have four children and a husband outside of school. Follow me through my first year transition from being a stay-at-home mom, to becoming a full time college student.

I spent my morning filling out my FAFSA form online. After lunch, I dropped off my youngest at daycare and went to the college to work on my powerpoint for tuesday. Those two hours went by quickly.
I'd like to say that I spent the rest of the day doing my homework, but honestly, I didn't. I spent the rest of the day helping make a valentine card box with my son. He decided it wasn't what he wanted and threw it away. Then I sat down and watched a couple episodes that I had missed over the last couple weeks. Numb3rs and Fringe. Numb3rs is always good, but Fringe is not the best show to watch right before bed. I can only imagine what my dreams will be like tonight. That is if I can get to sleep. Home alone with the kids. Quiet house with creaking noises. Sounds like my childhood all over again. Ha ha.
Tomorrow I do plan on doing my homework and studying for my test in APS. We are told it isn't a big deal, but you know me, every test is a big deal.
All I have to do now is get to sleep....

Today was a very long day. It sure felt like I was at school for longer than six hours today. I didnt' like any of the topics for the improv speech today so I thought about them till just about everyone else went. The class ended before I was able to give my speech so I have to do it Tuesday. I'm hoping for a topic that I can relate to. An experience that I have actually had, or an opinion that I actually want to share.
I only got a 97% on my first trig test. I made a stupid mistake. I seem to do that with the first test for every math class I have had so far. One thing that made a lot of people mad in the class is how he graded the homework. There was at least one problem that he marked everyone wrong on, even though he knew it was the right answer. He refused to change the grades and give the point he marked us off on. He then whined about all the papers he had grade and would have to grade again. Then continued to whine about the hours he worked. One point though so no big deal, right? Wrong. Not only does that give a zero percent chance for anyone to get a 100% in the class, lets figure out how much that one point actually cost in dollers.
I paid $780.00 for tuition into the class. $100.00 for a USED trig book. $3.79 for a binder. $ 1.99 for a mechanical pencil. $.99 for loose leaf paper at meijer. This is a total of $886.77. There are a total of 638 points possible. That is approximately $1.39 per point. That means at least $1.39 was over paid by each student in the class. There are approximately 16 students in my class. That is $22.24 that the class was ripped off.
This may not seem like a big deal, but that was just ONE homework assignment that he was too lazy to fix. What is going to happen when we turn in our next three assignments with our next test? How lazy is he going to be on those? How much more will we have overpaid by the end of the ten weeks?
All I have to say is BAKER! GET A QUALIFIED TEACHER THAT WANT'S TO TEACH HIGHER LEVEL MATH COURSES!

My last test in PowerPoint was a hundred percent! Yeah! Now all I have to do for the class is to give a presentation using PowerPoint. I'm happy to be done with that online program. It was annoying!
I finally got my results for my first speech that I gave last week. Just in time for an improv speech thursday. She said that everyone received full points because it was the first speech. Any comments that she had written down would have normally been points deducted. I received all good comments. I'm assuming (yes I know what that means) that if I just do the same as I did my first speech I'll be ok. That means four more times in the next five weeks I have to pretend that I don't want to throw up and pass out. When I can do that, I'll get an A. I wish it was as easy as it sounds.
My APS class today was quite entertaining. We learned all about the Supreme Court and each of the 9 Justices. Why that was entertaining? I have no idea. Maybe I was just happy that I wasn't sick this morning. Don't know. The discussion did leave me with the reinforcement of how dumb Clinton was though in office. Clinton may have been a good accountant, but he put two old people on the bench. His influence will fade quickly, as his impact on America has. Yes he balanced the budget, but how much in debt are we? President Ford on the other hand was very smart. He still has an appointed judge on the bench. Was I even alive when he was president? Hmmm.

Somehow I did all my homework, but honestly, I don't remember a thing. I have been sick all weekend, and I am not looking forward to tomorrow. My children are getting sick as well, and I'm sure I'm going to have to stay home from school at least one day this week. I've spent time this weekend listening to the lectures in my APS class. When my children over heard they pretended to be sleeping. I don't think he's that boring, but I guess that is the difference between and being an adult and being 15 or younger.
