Novel News Oct 2007 - Your Rights

** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

I have to start off by answering a question that someone wrote in and asked in the [Link To Item #559910] . Question: does posting my work to be reviewed mean I lose my first publishing rights?

Great question, Rooster. This is the reason I have the forums set to group only access and this is why you need to set your books to group only access as well. By posting your book here on WDC, you have lost your first rig...[Read Full Post]

Novel News Sep 2007 - Reviewing

** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

Welcome, everyone. The [Link To Item #559910] was created originally so that our novels could be reviewed. However, over the past--almost--five years, the workshop has grown and developed into something a little more than that. We're no longer a review forum. The Workshop is now a place where everyone has the ability to grow. The review is the key to that growth, but how do we review in such a way that both the reviewer and the reviewed have learned something?

Below I will outline what it is that I'm looking for and what I want each of you to learn from the review, but as you are reviewing others and as you are reading the reviews you receive from others.

I plan on resurrecting the actual Workshop itself so that we can participate in active learning. Before, we had many visitors, but ...[Read Full Post]

April 2005

** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only **

Welcome to another month! This is a HUGE newsletter this month. We're talking about how to juggle your writing and your life. Our interview is with Lisa Delman this month as she discusses her book, Letters from the Heart. We also have a discussion by members of the Novel News Staff, telling you what we feel about writing sex scenes and how far we're comfortable going.

I will warn those of you who are not of age, we are talking about sex in this newsletter. We will not be getting into any details, just discussing how it fits into the market and the industry. I would feel a lot better if you spoke to your adults before reading that particular article. Have a great day and enjoy!

Be sure to stay with us! Next month we'll be discussing your rights as an author.

In a future issue we will be interviewing Clive Cussler, author of , now a motion picture premiering April 8, 2005.

Creating Real Characters

Wow! It’s amazing to watch how many people are interested in writing novels. There is a great need for new and fresh books in the publishing world that are well written and well thought out! More and more agents and publishers are recommending that prospective novelists find other would-be book writers to share experiences with and help critique, saving the money that would have been spent on an editor. Our group is the pe...[Read Full Post]
