Moving to TXEntry #679970
I made the decision recently that Indiana no longer holds anything worthwhile for me and I'm going to move my daughter and I to Dallas/Fort Worth Texas. Here's my reasons, not it any order (except the first one)

1) Better weather
2) Better economy - Indiana has been impoverished for almost a decade due to major losses of technology and manufacturing jobs. With the current recession, it's only gotten worse.
3) Lots of friends and contacts already there
4) Better recruiting and selling opportunities for my business
5) Better education system - the college I'm looking to transfer to has a creative writing BA program in addition to a graduate and PhD program. Not to mention significantly more financial aid and guaranteed tuition.
6)The same government aid there as here (medical and daycare) - the exception is that Indiana eliminated me from the program unfairly by demanding a full recertification without telling me in advance so I could be prepared.
7) I've been unemployed for almost 2 years here but there's a good chance I may have a job before I even get there.
8) Similar cost of living to here.
9) More cultural advantages - lots of music, art, and other social events in the area
10) Did I mention the weather is way better?

I'll be leaving in early January for four days to go get things established and then we should be there about a week later if all goes well. Even if I don't have a job immediately I will be getting a settlement check that would allow us to live for about a year without a worry.
