MEETING IN NEXT LIFE

[Thoughts of a true lover, hoping to meet the beloved in next life, if not this one.]



With memories, I carry on.
With wounds in heart, I carry on.

Why wonder I am still living?
With broken heart I carry on.

I may one day yet meet my Love,
With this vain hope I carry on.

For love I will give up my life,
With such quaint thoughts I carry on.

Why grieve for me my friends it is
What you gave which I carry on.

These couplets are but my last words;
With these heart wails I carry on.

In next life we shall meet Khalish.
With this faith do I carry on.

* Translated from my original ghazal in Hindi, given below. For learning more about ghazal, see "WHAT IS A GHAZAL AND HOW TO WRITE IT?" . A partial attempt has been made in this translation to adopt the ghazal style. It is partial because the translated version has refrain but lacks monorhyme, due to translational difficulties related to differential language characteristics.
