DESERT OF THE DEAD

[Is the earth living or dying?]



The world today is nothing but
A desert of the dead,
Where more than half the children are
Ill treated and ill fed.

Not even in affluent West,
The picture is rosy.
Child abuse and the broken homes
Paint a portrait hazy.

Our world is, even otherwise,
Becoming a desert.
Countries their rights on water do,
Violently assert.

Those who take things literally
Will be by this convinced:
The dead litter Iraq desert,
So their oil could be pinched.
