Mirrored RefrainEntry #398231
The first time that I met this form I was reading "Invalid Entry

It reminded me in a way to a combination of the pantoum, as well as the villanelle family. Not easy, but do-able.

The information on the form is pretty brief:
I quote:
"The Mirrored Refrain is rhyming verse form constructed by Stephanie Repnyek.

The poem is formed by three or more quatrains where two lines within the quatrain
are the "mirrored refrain" or alternating refrain.

The rhyme scheme is as follows: xaBA, xbAB, xaBA, xbAB, etc..

x represents the only lines that do not rhyme within the poem. A and B represent
the refrain. The first four stanzas of the example poem are labeled for better
understanding."

Easier said:
*Gift1*The poem is set up in quatrains.
*Gift1*The poem has a minimum of four stanzas
*Gift1*The poem has repetive lines
*Gift1*The poem has a rhyme scheme.

Specific:
*Gift5*Every first line does not rhyme with the rest of the poem.
*Gift5*Line 2, 3, 4 rhyme.
*Gift5*The last two lines repeat - they come back!

Stanza set up:
xaBA
xbAB
xaBA
xbAB etc.

I guess you have to try...here is my example:

No brains

Feeling a fool, I sat down and cried my eyes red
knowing that he would never come back to me
he found himself his young girl with no brains,
a good lookin' thing, a pleasure to see.

I grabbed myself together and dried my tears away
he left me, so gone were my restraints
a good lookin' thing, a pleasure to see
he found himself. His young girl, with no brains.

I changed my clothes to go out, find a date
in a club, for entrance I had to pay a fee...
He found himself his young girl with no brains
a good lookin' thing, a pleasure to see.

To my surprise I found my love alone - she's gone
and in his eyes a silent tear remains
a good lookin' thing... a pleasure to see
he found himself his young girl... with no brains!

We hugged - made peace and left the club
in front of our house, "May I come home?" was his plea.
He found himself his young girl with no brains...
a good lookin' thing, a pleasure to see.
