Title:
MAKE IT HAPPEN: a sonnet
MAKE IT HAPPEN: a sonnet
Jesus said: covet not what is your friend’s,
Nor cast a vile eye on your neighbor’s wife.
He bid man to shun all stealthy errands,
And not to depose false when there is strife.
Lord, your commandments, I know all by heart,
Yet each of them I have broken so far.
In your service I never played my part,
In worship of Satan I knew no bar.
Now that I wasted all the years you gave,
And both my flesh and spirit are so weak,
How can I, from hell, ever myself save?
I can, humbly, my Lord, only thus speak:
“Lord, You only can make this still happen;
You can still send this sinner to heaven”.
