Two brothers follow a wary white German Shepherd to search for the King of a secret realm.

I've decided to list a number of Frequently Asked Questions regarding Elkwater's King. Some of these Frequently Asked Questions have been asked...er...frequently. Others have been asked only once, but I thought they deserved FAQ status because they were such good questions. Still others have not been asked at all, but I think they should have been.

Why does it take you so LONG to post installments?

Yes, sorry about that. I try to set aside one day a month (usually the second Tuesday) for telling more of this tale. My current daily adventures in Romance, Mentoring, Treasure-hunting, and Supernatural phenomena prevent me from devoting more time to writing. But I am not hiding anything from you. What you see posted is written directly onto the website, "live on Tuesday" if you will, and not copied from a word processing program (which is why you can find typos if you look for them).

Be patient. The events I have yet to describe will be worth the wait.

Do you already know how it is going to end, and all the things that will happen in-between?

Yes.

Who was that strange man on the airplane that only Timmy could see?

Now, now. Timmy himself only discovered that man's identity recently - some 28 years after that meeting on he airplane. It would hardly be fair to fill you in when Timmy was left in the dark for so long.

Will Timmy or Mike find the King before the end?

Yes, one of them will find the King.

Magic walnuts, a silver-haired boy who makes animal-sounds, multi-armed rats in the service of a giant guardian snake, goblinfart bread...how did you invent all this stuff?

I prefer to think of it as discovery rather than invention.

Do you have sequels to Elkwater's King planned?

Yes, but don't worry. I won't leave you hanging at the end of this book.

Why does Elkwater's King have an ASR rating?

The staff at Writing.com gave the novel an ASR rating due to the mention of smoking in the first chapter. If they had made it to Chapter Three, I'm sure the Lady gobbling up poor Porquillian would have qualified the story for an ASR rating anyway. And the disgusting cottage-cheese eating contest at the end of chapter Five would do it too - not to mention the vicious battle with the wolves near the end of the book. You get the idea.

Can you give us a sneak peek into what is going to happen?

Yes, but only if you promise you have read everything I have posted in the novel so far. You have? All right
then. I can tell you that a great Knight of the Hidden Stream named Cloud Warrior will be joining the quest, that Michael is going to lose his stile, that Timmy is going to be beat up by a girl, that you will find out who -or what - the Usher really is, and that the Tempest of the Torc will be underway before all is said and done. And lots, lots more.

Was the first King of Elkwater an African?

Yes. His name was Carthalo of Tagaste. His descendants are mostly scholars and leaders (and a Mage or two).

Is the Farm a real place I could actually visit?

Yes it is, just as described, but without its soul. But I'm afraid its exact location must remain a secret.

Really? What about Elkwater? How can I get there?

Use the invisible window, unless you are the sort of person that thinks these are merely black squiggles on an off-white web-page.

I made some editing suggestions, but you haven't accepted them.

I have made a vow to stop editing until I have completed the story. Believe me, I appreciate your suggestions, and file away the good ones for my editing at the end. Occasionally, when an error is really bothering me (keeping me up at night, making me pace), I'll break my vow. But a proper edit now will prevent me from unfolding the story in a timely manner.

You never answered my email.

I know. Bad author! I really am sorry. I intend to write back to all of you. But even if I fail to respond, I read every review carefully. Even the one that went "Yeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaw Freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Giiiiiiiiiiiiiiiift Poiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Please feel free to write to me again with your thoughts on how the story progresses, though. Hearing those thoughts from you really makes my day.

You say the Usher wil be identified, does that mean that he has more purpose than just choosing Kingfinders?

I won't tell everything there is to tell about the Usher, even at the end of Elkwater's King. The secret of where he came from is something you could never guess - in a way more majestic than you would think, and in a way much wilder and more humble. And yes, there is much more to him than selecting Kingfinders.

Did the huge snake thing that tried to eat Timmy die and get eaten by the giant centipede things?

No. The huge snake (The Lady) is on the other side of the Durshone Wall, where the centipedes can't go...the centipedes were only able to cross the road to the fields beyond because the wall had already curved around to the West (ended going North) when Timmy and Romber passed that way. The Centipedes were eating a dead Boar, if you must know, but that poor animal does not otherwise come into this story. The snake - the Lady - will be around for quite some time.

Oh, and what exactly does Goblin Fart bread look like?

"Goblin fart" is the direct translation for the word "pumpernickel".

Will Elkwater's King be published some day?"

That's the question, isn't it?

Who is Shozer?

LOL, you are right...that is the real question.
