Nothing to say.Entry #458732
Yeah right, since when have I had nothing to say? *Laugh* Why is it every night I can come up with great blogs, then by the next day…nothing?

Well, something interesting happened last night, to me anyway. My neighbor, with whom I have not spoken since she came over to dinner months ago, is a very quiet lady. I mean, there is never any noise coming from her house. Sure, she is around 80, but no noise at all? Okay, I take it back, during the summer I heard her grandchildren or is it great-grandchildren splashing in her pool a few times. OOPS, my wireless keyboard quit, gotta replace the batteries. Sigh Ok, back. So, as I was saying, last night while I was cooking dinner (yeah, Cesar has the weekends off) I let the dogs go out the back door and WOW, the loud sound of music was wafting into my yard. It was really nice music, from the 1940’s, but I’d never heard anything coming from her house before, so it was …odd. I came back inside and walked over to my kitchen windows to see if I could see a light on, figuring she must have been having a party. Mind you, it was RAINING, but I couldn’t see a light on. So I forgot about it and went on with dinner preparations. What? Oh, I was making a filet roast. After I got it into my oven I began the trudge down to my bedroom. For those new to my blog, it is exactly 68 steps from my stove to our bedroom, a hike, if you will. We had our French door to the yard partially open so the dogs could come and go, and I walked over and listened, “Hey honey….will you hit the mute button a second?”

“Huh?”

Having roused him out of the tv stupor I once again asked him to turn the tv sound off. He did.

“Do you hear that?” I shouted to him, as he is hard of hearing the past few years…or I mumble, as he frequently tells me…whatever.

“What?”

“”Big band music.”

“Yeah, I think so. Where is it coming from?”

“Our next door neighbor’s house, I think. Don’t you find that strange?”

“Hadn’t given it any thought. But, I suppose it is strange.”

“Yeah, and she doesn’t have any lights on. I’m sorta worried.”

“Well, any cars out front?”

“I don’t know, can’t see from the back here.” Sheesh.
“Well, since you haven’t gotten Saturday’s mail, why don’t you walk out there and look?”

Groan, the front door is another hike, then the driveway to the mailbox is…gawd, I never counted those steps, but it’s so long nobody ever comes down it. “Okay.” Off I go. About five minutes later I had reached the mailbox, extracted the soggy mail and walked over to the front of her home. Now I did see some lights on in the front portion of her house, but her gates to the driveway were closed, and not a single car was in her courtyard. Hmmm. Trotted back in and back to Hubby.

“Nope. No cars and the gates are closed, but there are a couple of lights on. Turn the tv to our music channels and let’s see if she’s listening to that, because there are no commercials, just continuous music playing…..it’s The Bugle Boy Song.”

“How do I do that?”

“Gawd, turn to the music icon and hunt for Big Band Sounds.” He did it, but both channels were playing different music. “Hmmm, no she is not listening to that.”

“So, you want to call her?”

“Not yet, let’s see how long it lasts.” So I joined Hubby watching 60 Minutes, until I needed to go back and set the table set, salad made etc. Before I left the bedroom I went to the door, yep, still music blaring.

The bottom line of this story is that after we finished dinner the music stopped, so I don’t know if she’s just sort of deaf or she was rocking out to music from her era. A mystery, but today her gates were open, so she must be fine.

****Note, this could be the last entry of this blog, and if so, sorry it wasn't full of gushing, but I'll be back with a new one! *Laugh*...Nope, I get one more...then I'll gush! Nah, probably just tell you when I'll start the new, improved model....pfffffttttt!
