A RUSTY KEY



A rusty lock, a rusty key,
A rusty iron chest,
Inside it a rusty paper,
From days gone by, does rest.

I have not had a look at the
Paper or its contents.
A conundrum of emotions,
I know it represents.

I dare not open it up and
Rekindle memories
Of dreams that were never fulfilled,
The unended stories.

I myself was the architect
Of dreams that dried too soon.
I could not get a tiny star,
Though I wanted the moon.

Let those rusty memories be
Sent to oblivion
To freeze indefinitely there
For many an aeon.
