Title:
A FLICKER OF LIGHT: a sonnet
A FLICKER OF LIGHT: a sonnet
As in the darkness I grope and shuttle
From one faltering step to another,
What do I see there in the dark tunnel?
A flicker of light in a far corner.
What light is that coming as a godsend
In moments of pain and gloom and despair?
I struggle towards it across a bend,
On my lips an honest and fervent prayer.
I stumble on a stone but ere I fall,
In a pit deep and dark almost like hell,
The name of Lord my lips instantly call,
And He holds me, from His touch I can tell.
The perceptual thought He is with me,
Makes me resume with courage my journey.
