Title:
Fable of the Five Senses
The question asked:
Why do we have five senses?
Sight
Look up into the sky and you will see,
Multitudes of clouds appear to float free,
But this is just a whimsy of your mind.
Meditate on the illusion and find,
Alabaster clouds hide castles of light,
While onyx clouds obscure castles of night.
Sound
Listen to the symphony of morning,
That the sun plays on the first rays of dawn,
You hear light’s voices intone a warning.
That darkness holds your desire’s as a pawn,
To keep you imprisoned in night’s dungeon,
And chained by steel links in its prison.
Touch
Feel the caress of the wind on your skin,
Arousing the desire for paradise,
Encouraging your search for eternal life.
Feel light’s caress on your soul’s feathers, when
Your spirit climbs into faith’s firmament
Seeking to fly through light’s crystal casement.
Taste
Savor the flavor of light on your tongue,
While you picnic under the noonday sun,
This is the tang of immortality.
Sample the bite of darkness in your lips,
When you consume fear’s bile in subtle sips:
The aftertaste of your mortality.
Smell
Inhale the aroma of light’s perfume,
Wafting from its castle’s bright parapets,
Persuading your sad spirit to resume,
After an encounter with night puppets,
The soul’s quest to find light’s pearl castle walls,
Before night and the final curtain falls.
