Why
At the beginning of this Nation, people understood the true value of the Constitution, and it is easy to understand why. For the first hundred years there were still those living who had endured the harsh reality of the previous system…Monarchy. A system where all that existed was in the hands of a select few, and every human were required to funnel their efforts into the wellbeing of those deemed royal. The remarkable concepts of our Constitution showed that point of view, wrong, and it empowered every human with the right to control their own destiny. This statement should be one we can easily agree on, and I hope that is the case. Right now is the time to consider my next claim, because we will never achieve that control of our own destiny if it is not grasped.
Slowly, over time, our Monarchy like structure has eroded our rights to the
point where little has changed. Please do not dismiss this claim, before you read the rest of my supporting thoughts. My words cannot harm us, and perhaps you will find them thought provoking.
I termed our Government, a monarchy like structure, and I shall attempt to validate this claim. Let us look at the structure of power in our nation, and then compare it to that, which existed in the past. We have a central Government for our kingdom, which claims the right to set supreme law, and further claims to be the ultimate authority in all things regarding the welfare of the nation. Furthermore, we have sub principalities, which radiate from this authority in the form of State, and local Government, and these too, claim rule over the decisions of your life. These so-called authorities currently operate in a manner of compete autonomy due to our reduced voter turnout. In the past there existed a central authority, (the King), and from him radiated sub authority in the princes, barons, earls etc., all operating in a like aura of complete authority.
The only thing separating these two structures is a very thin sheaf of paper, “The Constitution”. Over time, our system has slowly eroded our American spirit, by assuming more, and more dominion over our lives. We have allowed them to enact laws, and to assume powers, all of which funnel our efforts upward into their control, and they apply this effort for their own wellbeing. This has been a slow, and yet insidious process, which has terminated in our demanding they fix the problems of our lives. This is, exactly, the same as petitioning the King for relief. This view is exactly why I have claimed we must demand strict adherence to the Constitution, for it is the shield, which makes our system different from the past. Exactly how this sheaf of paper works is simple, and yet not understood by most of today’s citizens. The Constitution granted never before heard of rights, and the purpose of these rights are so you can fix the problems of your lives. Not the system fixing the problems of our lives. This is important to understand because self-interest shall always cause Government programs to fail. First off, they must respond to the moneyed interests, which placed them in their position of authority, and secondly they are simply mortal people who have never shown any great genius in social system repair. Just because they are elected, does not give them an iota of sense, more than the average citizen, and in fact they are hampered in this by the fact they have been placed in office by money, from the few, who want their reward for the investment.
I am not spouting brain surgery here, I am merely writing common sense, and if you want a secure future you had better remove your head from the sand, and refer to a quote about this proclivity placed else where in this book. Oh well, I will write it here again.
“Oh you Ostriches, my fellow man, they led us here and pointed saying this is sand. Lest by chance, a fool we hap to be, the truth is plain for all to see. Time to struggle, and throw a fit, yuck, phooey, and out we spit. That’s not sand its bullshit!”
The, afore, mentioned by-product is pandemic in our lives, and this makes it imperative we take the reins of our lives firmly in our own hands. That is why the Constitution exists, and it is the difference afforded by the structure of our nation. Please! my fellow citizens do not relinquish one degree of your personal freedom, or we shall once again walk the halls of the Dark Ages. “Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts…absolutely”. An interesting question would be, “What is the most powerful drive associated with the human condition”? Love, hate, greed, family, exactly what would you think is the answer to that question? How about, for the purpose of discussion in this book, let us apply “Self-Interest”. If we accept that drive’s dominance, it should be easy to see that all of the other choices are merely tools used to appease the needs of, “Self-Interest. From that conclusion the following claim must be considered true, “Every act of humans, goes to the fulfillment of, Personal Self-Interest”.
Personal Self-Interest, hmmm, very interesting, and what exactly does that mean? My fellow citizens that answer is not only far beyond the bounds of this work, it is far beyond the bounds of an encyclopedia of books. The number of needs, of personal Self-Interest, is exactly equal to the number of people who exist at the moment of that question, and will never be the same for any individual, regardless of how you ask the question. However, we can define some basic ingredients, which are universal factors of Self-Interest. These universal factors are the keys to the sameness of humanity, for it is from the securing of them, that all other efforts of humanity must spring. Therefore, these universal factors should be considered the foundation stones upon on which all human social conditions are founded. Let us do a foolish thing, at this juncture, and assume for the purposes of this book…that I am right. If you will grant me that assumption, I will show you, “Why”, we walk a road, which never fulfills the requirements of peaceful co-existence. Furthermore, once you have seen this, “Why”, I defy anyone to prove me wrong.
I cannot describe the joy I feel at presenting these conclusions, which are the lifetime gleanings of my Personal Self-Interest, my search for the, “Whys, and Why nots of life”.
Sustenance, shelter, security, wellbeing, opportunity, all the universals factors of a reasonable quality of existence, these are factors so vitally woven into, Personal Self-Interest, that denial of them can only be considered a virus. The illness, associated with this virus, is apparent throughout all societies and can be defined by a generic term, “Societal illness, or social illness”. As all illnesses can only be cured by addressing the cause, (you cannot cure social illness by passing a law), the cause of social illness must be addressed, before humanity can ever achieve its ideal social structure.
Here you must face a harsh self-realization, we as a society regularly point to those with social illness, and complain about their lack of initiative, then we have no qualms about saying, in the same breath, Government needs to fix our retirement, and medical concerns. A dichotomy by any stretch of the imagination, for when we deny them the same recourse we beseech, we indulge in hypocrisy. I am not saying you do not have a valid request of your Government, just as the socially ill have a valid request of Government for their needs, however, both segments are whistling in the wind. Here is an important reason I say that. The people who represent the top segment of society, have fulfilled the universal factors of their, Personal Self-Interest, and having done so are free to focus on the multitude of individual, “Personal Self-Interests”, previously referred to as so diverse. This focus is so enticing it leaves no room for addressing the needs of others; regardless of the fact, some of them were elected for just that purpose. The cause and effect of, “Personal Self-Interest”, represented at its most clearly defined, flawed enactment.
The King will not help you, and the Constitution, we venerate, dictates these concerns are your responsibility by granting these rights, free enterprise, private ownership, competition, the right to vote, these and all rights given in this shield from the past, say it is up to you to fix it. If I have not alienated you at this point, and if you have read, “Humaneomics”, you should grasp how this repair should be done. For the first time I am aware of, a path is defined, which can meet the needs of your universal factors, and by doing so, you automatically benefit all humankind.
I hope you will grasp my words, and forever remove this bit of doggerel from our lives, “The time has come but it does not last, and even tomorrow is soon our past. We twist, we turn in the unseen breeze, it does not fulfill, nor does it please. The countless days soon finite, and we slip confused into the night”. Let us fulfill, and erase confusion, so that journey of necessity is truly a glorious road.
Therefore, that is why, and you are the way, and the time is now what do you say? I say, you are the way, and I add this fuel for your consideration, in-order for you to grasp your personal self-worth. What is the rarest, most, unique factor of human existence? Gold, diamonds, rubies, exactly what is the factor? The rarest, most unique commodity on the face of the earth is you, for in the entire history of the world, there has never been, and never will be, another you. Looked at in that light, don’t you think you should stand tall, and reach for your pinnacle. We are the well of reason, and deserve to be so, for those in office have given their lives to getting into that position, where they are shielded from the requirements of survival. Conversely, we have battled the elements of survival throughout our lives, and thus have gained great insight about how life really works. Let us not squander those lessons, let us fix it. “Government of the people, by the people, and for the people”. These are remarkable words, and it is up to us to bring them into effect.
