Just a quickie! The Bakery Murders Kindle edition is available as of yesterday at Amazon.com. I don't know how many people in the world have Amazon's Kindle reader, but I do know when Amazon adds a book, even the Kindle version, it gets seen more places. For example, because it is available at Amazon, I can add it to my bookshelf at Shelfari, which is cool, because I can display my Shelfari bookshelf lots of places online.
Promoting yourself as an author is HARD work!  , but the Internet makes it easier . . . which brings me to a beef I have with a certain website called mindviz.com. I joined their site in January to build a playlist for my MySpace pages (not that I really cared about one, but it's the "thing" to do!). At the time I just set up a bare account because it was going to take more time than I had to spend just putting together song titles to share online I mean, sheesh!
So finally a little over a week ago I bit the bullet and set the whole thing up. I decorated with a special background, uploaded pictures, wrote up a bio, added my likes, added some music to my play list, etc. I spent SEVERAL hours getting everything just right, but then I was out of time to spend on it. So I signed off and went about my business.
I got a couple of emails from people on the site, which I went and answered, but I didn't spend a lot of time looking around for people to hobnob with because I had other things to do! Then one day I went to sign on and they had suspended my account! No warning, no notice, just suspended. I tried to find a way to contact them, but unless you can sign in, you can't have access to anything and they had suspended me, so I couldn't sign in!
I did find an obscure email addy in their terms notification, so I tried to contact them through it. I wrote them THREE times, just asking to know what I had done to merit being suspended. They totally ignored me! So I am writing this and posting it wherever I can think of to let people know I am unhappy with them and I feel I have been BADLY mistreated.
If they were going to suspend me, why didn't they do it during that month of time when I didn't even sign in? Why did they wait until I went to all the trouble to set up my page? I could have spent my time and effort better somewhere else anyway! Okay, so I admit all the places I am setting up pages I am promoting my books. That is the reason for all of it, but others there are promoting themselves as well... it's just most of them are musician/songwriter types.
Why should they discriminate against me for not being a musician/songwriter? I have written lyrics for songs and I do sing and play the piano, I just didn't promote that, though I did mention writing lyrics, since it is a music site... Are they upset with me ONLY because I am an author trying to promote my books? Or are they upset with me because I didn't waste all my time seeking out people within the community to gossip with? Why did they pick on me????
If you know anyone connected with these people can you please help me try to get some answers from them? (sigh) I'm very upset with them and I don't think it is fair, especially since no one will even answer my questions.  |
