Day 2, Task 1: Hungry SoulEntry #599075
Hungry Soul

Walking in the valley of the shadow,
morning and evening were the same
there was no light,
but only deep darkness
with neither beginning nor end.

The pain in my gut
was unsatiated
by either food or drink
and mimicked my soul unfathomable longing
which only love’s light could satisfy.

Then I met the beloved,
the light of his countenance dispelled
the shades of mundane desires
and fed my soul’s unrequited hunger
with the fruit of the tree of life.

My hungry soul is now satiated
and I feast on his revealed word;
though my body may walk in the shadows
my soul dwells in paradise.
