June 12, 2006- This weekend...Entry #605308
June 12, 2006 - Monday

This weekend...
Current mood: happy

Can I just tell you what a great weekend we had? I mean, we didn't do anything major but it was fun and relaxing. We spend so much time being "MOM" and dealing with what needs to be done, what has to be done, what's next to be done that it feels like that's all we ever have time for. So, when we have a weekend where we all have fun together, I cherish and appreciate it that much more.

On Saturday, after I got a chance to sleep in a little bit with Michelle getting up earlier than me, we milled around the house, watched tv, and Michelle and I got a chance to talk through some issues that caused an argument the day before. Then, we all got ready and went a birthday party for a former client of Michelle's and then headed out to the lake. It was great. We swam, played with the kids, played football in the water, and got some much needed relaxation. On a slight side note, can I throw some kudos my way? I completely surprised myself and here's how. You know how when you are in water, you are weightless? Well, Michelle and I were playing around and I was showing her how "butch" and strong I am to carry her (my 6'1 wife, whose weight shall remain nameless). She made a comment about, "Yeah. Well keep walking [out of the water] and see how far you get once I'm not weightless anymore." So, always one to prove my bravado, I did. And so I kept walking until she was no longer in water and I was still carrying her. I guess I am She-Ra after all. he he he.

Anyway, after we left the lake we hung around at home, watched tv while the kids watched a movie and the whole evening was just content and relaxed. Sunday was the same. The boys and I went to church and Michelle stayed home to have a little "her" time and get some things done around here that she wanted to. After church, we went shopping, went out to eat, wistfully held and played with puppies and kitties at the pet store, and ran a couple of errands. Then we went to an overlook in St. Joe, went on a hike on one of the trails, and finally ended up back home.

It's good to have weekends like these where it was all about our family and spending time together. And not just time doing laundry, cleaning the house, or paying bills. But time playing football, swimming, shopping, and hiking. It was a great release for us.

On another note- 8 more days until vacation!!!!!!! We are so excited because we are going camping at the Lake of the Ozarks with our best friends Christina, Shannen, and their kids Jaron, Seth, and Jacob. We are so excited and are literally counting down the days. I love having something great to look forward to!!!

Peace,
Angie
