Email Overflow & Goals (finally)Entry #631102
It took me almost four hours over the course of the last two days but I finally managed to trim my inbox to a more reasonable level. Remind me never to take eight weeks off from WDC again! WHEW! I still have to empty the trash and the sent box but at least the inbox is cleared up from almost 300 items. I found several things, including some auction items that I'd missed - even a prize from a contest I hadn't claimed yet! *Blush* Oh well, at least it's caught up now.

I also spent some time posting my work on the review forums. I haven't done that in months! I'm also working on getting back up to my normal review volume (around 100 or 150 reviews a month) which really helps me keep my mind primed for writing. The advice "Read, read, read" is so TRUE! It should also include "Review, Review, Review".

I'm getting much busier in my business finally. I had an appointment last night that I'll be following up on in two weeks plus I need to make almost 40 calls to current clients to try and schedule times to sit down with them and review their investments not to mention all the orphan clients who need a representative. It's going to be a very busy few months.

I did manage to electronically submit a story last night and decided my writing goals needed to be more concrete. They are as follows:

Writing Goals
1) Submit one short story per month (more if time allows)
2) Work on revising one short story each month
3) Work on creating one new story each month
4) Continue doing reviews (minimum 5 a week) and participating in groups on WDC
5) Participate in one contest a month as time allows
6) Continue working on column and get it submitted to editor

My business goals are a bit more complicated but are as follows:

Business Goals
1) Book 7 - 8 appointments per week
2) Make calls twice a week
3) Begin reviewing online websites and materials for various products
4) Practice securities presentations til they can be delivered accurately
5) Reach Division Leader by July 08 or sooner
6) Build income up to $350/wk asap

Personal Goals
1) Rejoin the gym and lose 30 lbs by May or sooner
2) File taxes asap and finalize financial arrangements regarding bills, savings etc
3) Finish working on credit repair
4) Find an apt or make decision this spring, prepare to move out in August
5) Research and enroll Libby in preschool in the fall
6) Continue with therapy every week
7) Look into financing options for a new vehicle as money/time/resources allow as well as selling options for current vehicle

This list is subject to change, of course, as time goes on but those are my overall goals for the year. Many people tend to avoid making resolutions because they're afraid of failure. I embrace it because it serves as a reminder throughout the year. And if I don't make my goals, I will at least learn from my mistakes and it just goes onto next year's list. This is the first year I was so busy I didn't get it done until almost the end of January.
