I'm so excited - I spent about four hours today making calls - from 3 - 5 and from 7:30 to 8:30. I set up 3 appointments for next week and will be getting two new life policies written. Finally - a decent sum of money! I can't wait!

I'm enjoying getting into this new groove. It's so different when it's just you and there's no boss hanging over your shoulder. There's a different kind of pressure, more urgency. I can't recall ever feeling a sense of urgency like this one when I worked for an employer or the sense of pride I would get from my work. I talked with my close friend Julie tonight and she wants to take out a life insurance policy as well as start investing for retirement. She's 45 and has no retirement savings but fortunately has no debt either. I'm so excited to start working with her toward saving for retirement. I look forward to the day when she retires and knows that she's got a relatively solid financial future ahead of her.

That's the kind of difference I make for people and it's why I got into this business in the first place. I like to help people, to make and a difference and getting paid for it is just icing on the cake.

Of course, right now finances are super tight because I've had no income coming in for a while. I am still waiting on my W-2s from two of my employers and hope they arrive next week so I don't have to reschedule my appointment with my tax advisor at the beginning of February. If all goes well I would have my return by 2/13 and none too soon! I hate being broke. I'm glad I made the changes in my life that I did but I can't wait to have a little more financial security. It's tough knowing you have to meet with clients but you're not sure where money for gas is going to come from. Fortunately I have friends to help me and I carried myself through for as long as I could on my savings and thriftiness and a very meager income. Fortunately it's only been about $150 and most of that was a gift for Christmas and my birthday.

I didn't really get much writing stuff done but I did do plenty of reviews. I'm getting ready to go do some more as well. I think it's going to take me a little bit longer for the creative juices to start bubbling although I am looking to create a new poem. More details on that possibly to come soon.

In any case, my best friend seems to be doing well. Her husband got laid off but started back at his old job again. Things seem to be stabilized for the time being so I'm just going to enjoy it while it lasts.
