Libby's Turning 2!Entry #631870
My daughter, Liberty (aka Libby) turns two on February 28. Yesterday my best friend and I made preliminary plans for the party and I invited the guests. Fortunately I live with most of them *Laugh* but there will be several other kids there as well. We're doing an Elmo theme this year. We almost went with Dora but honestly, she'd enjoy that much more if she were a little older so we'll save that party for a few years from now when she's in school and has some little friends to invite.

This year's party will be much cheaper and low-key than last year's. Last year's party was a six hour open house with almost 20 people invited (most of whom showed up too!) I spent almost a week getting ready for it, the majority of which was in the three days before with a LOT of it done the day of. I went to six different stores for supplies and this year I'm going to order the decorations and stuff from the Oriental Trading company. It might be more expensive but it beats the heck out of all the running around. I'll still have to go to Wal-Mart and Scotts. I'm not sure if I'm going to make party bags or just spend the extra money on ordering them premade. Last year's party bags were a big hit but it took almost two hours to make them up. However, there's going to be some kids there that are six months younger than Libby so I might need to make them myself so I can be sure there are no choking hazards and such.

In any case, I'm excited about her party. She had so much fun as Christmas that I think she'll really enjoy this too. I'm glad her birthday isn't around any major holidays like mine is (sorry, Valentine's Day doesn't count).

I was thinking about hosting an auction in celebration of her birthday but I'm not entirely sure I can take that on. I'm already way behind on reviews I need to do. The winter festival has raised over 300K but I spent a significant amount of my own GPs on it which I'll be lucky if I get them back. Not that that's a big deal but I'm not sure I have the resources anymore for an auction. Not to mention, the only way I'm going to be able to get a premium membership is if I use GPs for it. That means I need to do some serious reviewing and participating in contests. I need 1.4 million GPs in order to do a year's premium upgrade and I've probably given away or donated at least 500K in the last six months. I think if I tighten up I could get enough to upgrade my account and not have to spend the money. I'd like to be able to but I just can't afford to do that and it would be irresponsible to do so. But at least this way I can justify spending the GPs.
