Evralia's ExileEntry #632906
I recently posted my short story, Evralia's Exile (which I'm now realizing no matter what I do, is not willing to stay a short story) to a writing review group I'm a part of for discussion next week. We meet each week to discuss each other's work and provide feedback. We could do reviews but it's kinda nice to have the personal touch of a chat. It's a lot of fun and I really enjoy the group we have.

So I read it over today and discovered that it's good. Better than I remembered or expected. And I found myself intrigued even more by this character and her story. I found myself drawn into it and without meaning to, the next part came to me in a slow, steady, stream of thoughts. So I worked on it and effectively tripled the prior word count. It's a bit rough but I think the plot that's taking shape has a lot of potential.

I set out originally to create the most evil character I could imagine. Someone so corrupt and horrible that you want to loathe her. Then the question arose of, how would someone get to that point? And Evralia's Exile was born. And now, it may just be making itself into a book. As if I need another huge project I don't know how to finish. I already have Amulet of Zalia, Deleted, A Life in Progress, and almost a dozen short stories and poems to revise and submit. How in the heck do writers do this? How do I get through a project when so many others keep coming up?

I want to give myself creative freedom but without organization and a plan, it's hard to accomplish much. It's not like I can sit and write for five hours a day and finish a novel a month. At most I could manage 3 hours a day (from about 8 - 11) if I'm not too exhausted from the rest of the things I have to do.

I'm glad to see that I'm writing again but I really want to finish Amulet. And my short stories. But this idea feels so right (write? Lol) I don't want to let it go either. I just don't know how to accomplish it all. But I suppose this means I have another novel to work on, in any case. *Laugh*
