Lord of the Flies by William GoldingEntry #645939
Genre: Classic Fiction

Summary: When a group of English boys are involved in a plane crash and left alone on an island to fend for themselves, everybody seems all right and happy. Who wouldn't be? But suddenly responsibilities are becoming extinct and baser instincts are taking over. Soon the boys will be pitted against each other and potentially dangerous.

Why I Picked It Up: Assigned reading for AP English 4

My Opinion: I wasn't a big fan of the novel. I think parts of it were well written and that the story is one that is told a lot, about animal instincts and the evil in everyone. I think it was a little too gruesome and heartless for me, but I understand that that's the point of the story. I don't find this sort of thing entertaining however.

My Rating: Three and a Half Stars
