School Begins in Eight DaysEntry #649113
I'm admitted to my local college, and I have meetings scheduled for Monday and Tuesday to go over my transfer credits, my financial aid awards, meet my department chair, and other miscellaneous school related stuff. I've already registered for one course for Fall term and have an idea of what courses I'm planning to take in summer and fall. All my classes are in the middle of the afternoon which means it shouldn't interfere with my business. If I work my business for 8 hours on M, T, and F, then I should have W, Th, Sat, and Sun for studying.

I'm both nervous and excited. I won't be taking any English related courses - it's all general coursework but in a way, I'm okay with that because I think I'll enjoy the classes on the merits of themselves. I'd be taking one math class and three humanities related courses in summer term. In Fall I'd be taking a sociology class (with my best friend which would be fun) and two English courses. That means by the end of Fall term I would have completed 21 credit hours toward my BA. That would leave just 67 credits to complete my degree. If I took 26 credits a year then within three years I could be done. And if my business is growing at the same time, it's a win-win. So while I may not need a degree, it would mean that the $25,000 in student loans that I received for my college work a few years ago would be worth something.

My best friend's husband helped me move a temporary desk up into my bedroom and it fits perfectly. With classes starting in eight days I need a place to study and spread things out, storage space, etc. It's nothing fancy - I got it for $5 at a yard sale (thanks to my best friend's eagle eye) but the price was too good to pass up. And I have a chair in storage not being used so I'll try to get that this week and bring it home to use.

So maybe now, with more maturity and a steadier personal footing, I'll be able to succeed in ways that I couldn't before. I will be working harder than ever - juggling school, business, and motherhood but I have a fantastic support network and I'm confident that I can do all three successfully. I just have to put my mind to it.
