The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamilloEntry #670263
Genre: Juvenile Fiction

Summary: Despereaux Tilling never meant to be a hero. He was just a mouse! The smallest mouse in his community, to be precise. But then he meets the fair princess. And he's a goner. He's so in love, he breaks mouse law and is sent to the dungeon, to be eaten by the rats. But when Princess Pea is kidnapped, he has to find a way to show that even a mouse can be a knight in shining armor!

Why I Picked It Up: I saw the movie and absolutely had to read the book. I fell in love with the story and the characters.

My Opinion: I wish I had discovered this book when I was younger, but even as an adult, I can appreciate everything about it. It was a beautiful story with gorgeous illustrations, and a hero that beats any male human hero you can name.

My Rating: Five Stars
