If Charles Dickens was still alive and writing about ghosts of past, future and present day ghosts of love I would be the main character. Last year at this time I thought I was as happy as a candied conversation heart in the middle of a romantic sentence. That happy memory still haunts me even though I still smile at hearing those most over-used relationship words. I can see the smile in her eyes, and taste the warmth on her lips. Having those senses allowed to reflect on the past is like dangling the chain that specters have. How can one look to the future, or even the now when there is a heavy weight pulling you back.

Unlike Scrooge I don't have a ghost showing me what can come of my life in the future if I don't change the things I do today...
