Chapter 12
“Sleep well?” Rogue asked when Evokia ventured out to the kitchen. Rogue didn’t look as if he’d slept at all.

“I haven’t slept that good since…” Evokia didn’t finish the thought. Her brows were drawn down and she looked frustrated. Their new relationship was too fragile for both of them.

Rogue cleared his throat and chose his words carefully. “You didn’t sleep well while you were…on your own?”

His rage toward Evokia had ebbed away while he had listened to the recording. Not only was his brother dead, Trojan’s sister had been killed also, but the woman he had loved had killed them both.

Evokia stared at him sheepishly, not knowing what to say and feeling like an idiot. She knew she would stumble over any words she attempted to say, rarely did she break down like this but hearing that recording had unnerved her. She still hadn’t cleared things up with Trojan yet. She was worried about him, about what would happen next, and what people were going to think of her.

“It’s okay.” Rogue said as if he could read her mind. “This is all so sudden; no one knows what to think. All I know is that you didn’t do it and Trojan’s sister is dead too.” Rogue began pacing around the kitchen. “Go to him, he needs you.”

Evokia watched Rogue pacing and was torn. Knowing Trojan needed her made her heart swell, but knowing Erin was dead because of her made her stomach churn. Rogue suddenly flung himself into a chair, head down, eyes squeezed shut. He looked miserable. Evokia quietly left, not knowing how to comfort him.
