Thank you both for your comments. I definitely do get the feeling he's chosen us, but since he is obviously well cared for I would love to reunite him with his original owners. I suspect it is someone new to the town.

Our town is small (1100 people) and we don't have many 'blocks'. The signboard is outside the only supermarket we have. And I forgot to mention that my husband went door knocking in the immediate neighbourhood. So...it's a waiting game.

Happy Face moved in on my sister and me and stayed for about 10 years. She decided after 3 days that our house was her home and chased all the neighborhood dogs off her territory. No if, ands or buts. When my parents got home from vacation my mother was not thrilled, but by then Happy Face wasn't about to move out and my mother decided to stay. Frenchy did the same to me years later. So ... if you don't find him a home soon ... he's yours! Why? He's already told y'all so!!

He's thankful for you and letting you know it by returning the affection. My brat cat does the same darn thing - AND tries to sleep on my head.

It's likely the cat's from the neighborhood, or someone lost him while visiting. You might want to try papering a few lampposts (et al) in a 3 or 4 block area - you'll probably have better luck. I'm guessing the affection ceoms from constant attention and love, which probably means someone up there in years. They may not think of callign the vet and might not have frequent visits to wherever the community board happens to be.

Kudos to you and your family for caring for a stranger...

Glad it wasn't really an ouch. Sure wish I had some of those fresh stawberries. I guess that's one thing I miss about Central Florida. That and the citrus, of course.

Awww. I'm sorry. It's sad that she died after you were able to save her from your darling cat.

When I was growing up, we always had only dogs. My dad just didn't like cats at all. (I later learned why. His mother had some pretty weird cats.)

Over the years, though, I've come to enjoy cats. I have a few stories about them in my port.

About 18 months ago, hubby and I inherited his dad's cat when his dad moved from a huge house to a small apartment. Piewacket is about 4 or 5 we think. About a month ago, she started playing like a cat for the first time since we've had her. She's so cute.

So...we decided to get her a playmate. Two days before Christmas we went to a no-kill shelter and selected a kitty about 10 months old. What a fun place our house has turned into. Pi still isn't sure about having a kitty around. Hopefully the hissing (Pi) and growling (Opera) will end someday.

I have two babies as well. One is quite agresive with the other (she is not receiving well his attentions since she has no interest in male cats and she raised him up even not being her own). But my cat is only agresive to rats and mice and of course my female cat.

I just noticed the males from other neighbors comming home to make harm to my baby (he is not a year yet. He is only six months old) and I'm so furious! But tbese are not my first ones and I had two that learned to deffend themselves because of the abusive ones. I completely understand you.
