When I first started this BLOG a year ago, I was turning over a new leaf in my life. Since then, several more have been turned - it is rather an ongoing process, leaving demons behind and moving forward with life. Join me on this, my journey through life - warts n' all
You will meet lots of RL characters in this BLOG, for I tend to write about people in my life, my loved ones and those who care about me. The main star is and will always be my daughter, Nathalie, my pride and joy, my raison-d'etre. She fills my heart with love and my life with sunshine and laughter. A co-starring role is held by my hubby, Neil, who puts up with me and is simply wonderful, my family and friends who are spread all around Europe and the US.
A special Thank You at this juncture also to my Chemo Buddy, Tatum, for being my guardian angel and my very special friend. I now have a new Chemo Buddy called Isabel - joining the chemoangels program is the most amazing thing I have ever done, besides giving birth to my daughter. You would not believe how rewarding it is - I often think I am getting a whole lot more out of the deal than my buddies; it is so great to give, to bring a smile to someone's face, to make a difference! If you are interested in joining the scheme please check out www.chemoangels.com
Hopefully you will also get to know me a little bit better by reading this BLOG, or perhaps just give you a good old laugh at some of the silly things I get up to. Who knows, from time to time you may even find little nuggets of wisdom in here...
If you think your Master's courses are keeping you VERY busy, wait till you start your Master's thesis! (from one who has a Christmas deadline for my Master's thesis).
:-O it's making me all hungry again thinking about it! Our guest lecture went really well today, especially after we told the Professors that we had all been eating tons of garlic last night and did they mind opening up the windows to let some fresh air in!
lol....life is so funny sometimes...I guess there was no way to get around it lol
aww poor kitty...and poor car...
yea never trust the weather reports...I watch it sometimes and they will say its going to rain...when all of a sudden they say its going to be sunny just like they predicted before...O_O right....I guess they think we have short span memory...
I am incredibly busy with my thesis at the moment, that plus preparing for the last 2 days of lecturing logistics (the next 2 coming Tuesdays). With the house build and my hubby spending 2 weekends in the UK I am also obviously picking up all of the chores, all the time. It is difficult to find time to fit it all in.
Yet I feel awful for moaning about my chores. My very first chemo buddy, a girl now aged 8, was declared free of cancer (Ewings Sarcoma) about a year ago. She now has to go into hospital tomorrow for a biopsy on her loung and it looks like the cancer has returned. I am totally in the dumps. I wish I could go see her and wish her good luck for tomorrow and hug her tightly. I feel utterly helpless. I shall spend all day tomorrow waiting for news from her parents as to the initial findings.
Please keep my chemo buddy, Tatum, in your thoughts and prayers in the coming week!

feature coming soon!
I am finally making something that resembles progress on my masters thesis; I have written 22 pages so far - even if that includes cover page and bibliography! It is great to finally "unpick the boil" (sorry for that vile image) and get my thinking juices flowing; as it is an MSC thesis, I am not sure I am allowed to write "creative juices"
I had the flu last week and now my princess is hit. Although improving, she still has rough nights, coughing and spluttering. This is not helped by the fact she has now been diagnosed with asthma so her chest is wheezy. She still is not confident using the inhaler but hopefully will be soon.
I didn't get as much done on my thesis yesterday as I wanted to, my princess was demanding rather a lot of my time which obviously I didn't mind but still meant constant interruptions to my "flow".
So I am up early today, trying to finish off my thesis schedule and resource plan for the company sponsoring my thesis.
my life is too busy to be keeping two blogs so please check updates on www.annechiles.blogspot.com - anything to do with my writing I will continue to post here on WDC but for the time being I am 110% absorbed in real life stuff like writing my masters thesis. My muse is peeved and has left me for a goblin and is citing neglect and lack of provision of chocolate biscuits. When she returns I will continue work on my novel, I have lots of ideas!!
I have written updates on my blogspot blog with everything that happened before and after the op - please check this out as I am not online much these days due to the knee.
The weather this weekend was fantastic - well, sunny at least even if still a tad on the chilly side for my liking. On Saturday we went for a walk and picnic in a nearby nature park where I used to spend a fair bit of time as a kid as it was close to my school in Denmark. Consequently, this is where we often went on excursions and it is also where we had the annual cross-country run in which I really enjoyed participating.
Yesterday, Neil took Nathalie swimming so I could have a little bit of a lie in and in the afternoon, I took Nathalie on a bike ride. We rode to her school and back, twice, so that she could practice how to behave in traffic. This morning, we rode to school and then I did the next 10km to work also by bike. It took me approx. 35 minutes but I wasn't going that fast as it was my first time and I am still trying to save my knee.
Tomorrow I will be going to handball training again, see how my knee copes. In a way I am hoping the injury flares up again and then I will just get myself straight to A&E rather than having to wait for 3 months for an appointment in which time I would not be sure whether or not I am ok to do sports or not.
My Masters Thesis supervisor has propsed a really interesting theme for my thesis - the one proposed by Danfoss was really intersting but my supervisor and I were struggling to see where the theoretical part of the thesis was going to derive from so I had to turn it down. I am waiting for my supervisor (Hans) to confirm a date for our first meeting, meanwhile I have downloaded lots of stuff on SCOR supply chain management model and have just spent 114USD on books *phew*
Anyway, I had better crack on! Don't forget to check my other blog www.annechiles.blogspot.com - have a FABULOUS day and week, everyone!
I have gone and aggravated an old knee injury and now resemble hop-along Cassidy on a bad hair day. I am struggling to get seen by specialists so am thinking of going to handball training on Tues to make it even worse so I can get myself along to A&E. Not sure it's a great idea though as it would involve rather a lot of pain! The swelling has gone down from Elephant Knee to slightly bruised and swollen goat's knee....
I got elected to be chairman of my daughter's PTA last night - total fluke as I only went along for coffee, a natter with my friend and to listen to a presentation on traditions and values at the school. I start the position August 2008 for 3 years and have lots of ideas for fund raising to get to our target of 75K euros (we currently have around 13K euros - some way to go yet!)

Have a great week everyone - I am actually drafting a novel at the moment, first chapter, should be able to post something this weekend!
I am totally jet-lagged after our trip to the US (Indianapolis and New York) over Easter, which is worse this time because I have also come home with a stinking cold. I am slowly mending now though and looking forward to going to Hamburg this weekend with my sister. We are going to be doing a spot of shopping in the morning / afternoon and then we are going to a concert with Roger Cicero who is a fabulous German swing-jazz singer. We are staying over in a hotel so that I can have a drink or two, and then we head back home around noon as my brother and sis-in-law are on a 2-week visit from the US and are spending Sunday with us at our house. I am still thinking about what to serve for lunch and dinner, I must try and find something delicious which won't mean I spend the entire time cooking in the kitchen! And no, not frozen pizza
Aside from that, things are groovy - I am in discussions with a local company who might be willing to sponsor my masters thesis. I have one more course to attend in July - a block seminar on European Governance, aside from that it is "just" the thesis.
I am going to be busy the next couple of weeks, making (as in, crafting) our wedding invites. We are having a very small church wedding in July with our family and close friends - around 50 people in the invite list. The venue is booked already, I just need to sort some legal stuff and get our paperwork ready. Luckily it is a bit of a "recycling" wedding as I will be wearing the same dress as Florida last year, and we won't have to buy rings or anything so it isn't going to be a hugely expensive do. We also won't be able to go on honeymoon as the block seminar starts the week after the wedding, and Neil can't get holiday til 2 weeks after at which point we will probably just get a summer house somewhere in Denmark or something.
Anyway, I am not updating this blog much as I am now on blogger.com http://www.annechiles.blogspot.com - but I have an idea for a new novel (oh, no, I hear you groan! Not ANOTHER work in progress!!! *chuckles*) so hopefully I will get time to update it here from time to time
