A teenager's diary, abandoned in an old locker, somehow found its way into the janitor's closet. The beautiful cover has been ripped; the pages are beginning to fall out. How such an important piece of a teen's life could've become so violated was a mystery. In order to find out, you sat down on an old bucket and gingerly opened the decrepit book.

Author's note: This is a random journal. I usually record feelings, ideas, scraps of stories, and other literary bits and pieces in journals. So, be warned: not everything in here is true, or unoffensive to some people.

I have read a few books by Mitchard -- I read her newest book, Cage of Stars, a few months back, and though it was overall a pretty good read, I think she lost some of her pacing skill. In other books (Most Wanted is my favorite, actually) she definitely has a good sense of pacing, even through to the denouement, but this one had sort of lost it. Deep End of the Ocean is good, too, though not quite as stellar as everyone and her mother says.

Have you read any Jodi Picoult? It's a similar genre. What do you think of her books, if you've read some?

!! Peta protesters always make me giggle. The fact that their mission statement includes vision that animals will stop being treated like second-class citizens -- uh, hello? Animals aren't people. If we let all the domesticated animals run wild in the streets, that'd be much worse for them, seeing as they can't survive on their own.

And have you heard about the Peta member who legally changed his name to kentuckyfriendcruelty.com? Seriously. That guy needs a life.

Personally...yes..I think we can use any behavior to medicate our feelings...even a relationship. Tread lightly and consider carefully
