Responding primarily to questions and comments of readers, I hope to think deeper than the superficial ways I read in most opinion columns.  I want to discuss especially political, religious, and philosophical issues; but that covers such a waterfront that it is hard to imagine what would not fit!

I have written extensively and spoken elsewhere (though for a limited audience of perhaps five hundred at a time in various places).  After more than thirty years as pastor, professor, reader and thinker, in the United States and abroad, I come with a wealth of experience, and at least some insight that others have appreciated.

Because I hope to be able to share some of what I have learned does not mean that I am not open to listening and learning something new.  Some opinions are bound to be harder to shake than others; but I am a person of few prejudices and an open mind.  Please feel free also to express your own beliefs and reactions in a spirit of mutual inquiry and respect.  This column will be heavily shaped by what you are thinking!

Please read on!
