When their university is bought out from under them, Douglas Howe and his ally Richard Crenlish are sent on an across the Atlantic journey to find out what exactly will be done with the church which the University was built around. Once they do discover though, they only realize that the church they thought was theirs is much, much older and is the key to opening a doorway to the ghosts of Vineta's past, which include vikings, war parties and quite possibly Ragnarok. Now, it is their job to close this door and undo the nefarious attempts of the Tell Corporation.
