Anthony Meyers is nothing short of a loser. After dropping out of high school recently, and failing at every minimum wage job he gets, Anthony is ready to give up on life. However, the unsolved murder of his former girlfriend at the local discotheque, the Pomegrantate Room, has suddenly promted him to change his ways. After five months of rehab, Anthony has returned to the Pomegranate and has been hired as a dance intsructor by Lorenzo Fantini, the flamboyant and quite bossy owner. But, when Anthony finds that Lorenzo's negligence is the cause for his girlfriend's death, it's up to him to use Lorenzo to track down the killers. In addition to playing the vigilante, Anthony is helplessly falling for the new girl in town, Lexa Cane: an out-of-state dancing queen with a likeable personality. At the Pomegranate their participation in the annual dance contest sparks interest, but for Anthony's upper-class Jewish family, it sparks controversy. not only is Lexa not Jewish, she's African-American, and his domineering step-mother is outraged by their relationship. Going against all odds and rules, Anthony and Lexa defy his parent's wishes. But is the choice worth it, or will Anthony's bad past catch up with him, leading them both into the unknown depts of New York City's dark shadows?
