Well my birthday turned out to be a full day with a bang at the end. My daughter and her husband and my oldest son took me to breakfast and later that evening I was surprised with an impromptu birthday party. The children, grand-children and great-grands along with a couple of my friends and nephews showed up with all the makings for the festivities.

Some had, paper plates, plastic utensils, cups, napkins, ice cream, cake and sodas. My oldest son cooked hot wings and fries. It was a delightful evening, they took pictures and even managed to get me in a couple. I hate being photographed, always have. Yesterday morning my nephew showed to take me to breakfast, because he was not able to make the party. After returning from breakfast I spent the rest of the day laying around recuperating from all the excitement. I guess I really am 65 or at least my body is. *Smile*

Today is a beautiful day in more ways than just the weather. Today I turned sixty-five years young. *Smile*
It hasn't all been peaches and cream but I made it, and I thank God for that. No big plans, might go to the movies to see Tyler Perry's new movie "I Can Do Bad All By Myself". That's all for now, be safe.

I have my hands full with the class I am taking, there is no way I could keep up if I had taken more than one. I am loving every minute of it and I am also keeping a journal. I decided on a name "Fantastic Voyage". Here's a little poem from pomehunter.com.

Life

LIFE, believe, is not a dream
So dark as sages say;
Oft a little morning rain
Foretells a pleasant day.
Sometimes there are clouds of gloom,
But these are transient all;
If the shower will make the roses bloom,
O why lament its fall?

Rapidly, merrily,
Life's sunny hours flit by,
Gratefully, cheerily,
Enjoy them as they fly!

What though Death at times steps in
And calls our Best away?
What though sorrow seems to win,
O'er hope a heavy sway?
Yet hope again elastic springs,
Unconquered, thought she fell;
Still buoyant are here golden wings,
Still strong to bear us well,
Manfully, fearlessly,
The day of trial bear,
For gloriously, victoriously,
Can courage quell despair.

~Charlotte Bronte~

I LOVE IT! SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL!

Have a safe weekend!

If you get a chance check out my journal for the class it also includes poetry I have written since starting. I need a unique and appropriate name for itl, if you think of anything I'd be more than happy to hear from you. More next time.

Well guys I've done it again. I'm taking a class through New Horizon Academy "The Journey". I am so excited! This is not an ordinary poetry writing course, it is more of an awareness course. It started last Thursday and I have written four poems to date. This is quite an accomplishment, since I haven't written this many poems in a year and a half or longer. Wonderful instructor, and fellow journeypersons. *Smile*

It is cloudy, cool and raining here again so I am going to make a pot of 15 bean soup. One other thing, I am glad this course came along to pull me away from FACEBOOK and all those games. It is addictive as hell especially Mafia Wars. I check in to make sure I bank my money so that the other Mafias won't steal it. Can you believe that? There is so much more I could be doing, but here I am at almost 65 years young spending most of my time on FACEBOOK with the kids.

Check out my journal when you get a moment. At the present it is titled "GrannyM's Journal", I am working on a better name for it but for now that will have to do. Here you will also find the new poetry I've written. That's it, more next time.

I will be 60 plus years old in a couple of weeks and I have never seen an officer of the United States congress disrespect the President of the United States as I saw with my own eyes last week. I know he apologized but you can't take words back, words take on a life of their own once released. As the scripture states in Luke 6:45 For a man's words will always express what has been stored in his heart."

Our President was disrespected on National television for the whole world to see. If WE don't respect OUR President, no one else will. We don't have to agree with him but we sure as hell need to respect him. It was a disgrace for us as Americans for this to happen, I am appalled and embarassed for our nation. Let's pray for our nation and our President.

I am very sad!

Nutrients found in foods today are not enough to sustain overall health. In 1953, UCLA analyzed a bowl of spinach for its iron content. They discovered that one bowl of this leafy green vegetable supplied the daily requirement needed. When this same study was repeated in 1997, they discovered that it would take 43 bowls of spinach to equal the nutritional value of one bowl in 1953. What does this say about our health issues?

Okay, with that being said, here's a great recipe for Tomato Guacamole Salad, it serves 4. Not bad, not bad at all.

4 ripe avocados, peeled and diced
1 cup red onion, minced
1 cup firm, fresh tomato, diced
4 tsp. freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 bunch cilantro, stemmed and chopped

Mash avocados in a bowl. Add onions, tomatoes, lemon juice and cilantro. Gently mix. Serve over a bed of greens of your choice.

Enjoy!

It's not so much what you say, as the manner in which you say it.

Wise men talk because they have something to say. Fools talk because they have to say something.
~Plato~

It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

Have a great Sunday, it is raining that soft drizzling rain and has been since Friday. I'm loving it!

What would your reaction be if you were sitting in a mall minding your own business and this happens?

Thanks StoryMaster/youtube, I just had to share it with Blogville.
