I couldn't do NaNoNuthin this November, probably no more than 10,000 words. October through January is the busiest time of year for my job. Nonetheless, I have it under control by this time and I am rolling forward with my first contest. In the contest world I am sad to see that most contests strongly encourage a tiny amount of words that is out of kilter with skills needed for the publishing world where you must write the appropriate length for your story. As a result, many people think they have written a story when in fact they have written either a plotless thought or a work so condensed that they think their plot is apparent but it is not.



That's why I'm thrilled by the idea you expressed here, and how it may be applicable to all contests. It occurs to me that it need not be NNWM to give a bonus for extra words to people who won a contest on all the other criteria. I don't know if it's fair for me to add that to the prizes after people have already posted, but if you see it in my Drastic Measures Contest or my next one, you'll know you were the inspiration.

I think waiting on the Prize Size is a good idea. It's sort of like a 50/50 raffle, the prize size changes as the pot gets bigger. Maybe you could just have an outline - or formula - of percentages and how they will be divided.
Kudos to you for taking on this task and participating in NaNoWriMo.

I still haven't tried to get my driver's license yet though I reallly need too. I'm still learning how to drive and all that and I know I wouldn't be able to pass right now. I'm sure you'll pass it the next time around. ^^

I had to check this out. I did my first nano last year and broke 50K. I'm looking forward to doing it again this year. I'll stop back to join once I chose between turbo and casual.
