When I am in love, my world becomes silent. All I can speak are poems. As my love deepens, all I can hear are songs. Your songs are flowing within me, not blood. JK

A strong foundation can turn dreams into reality. Dream structures have weathered centuries; created by passionate and determined architects of time. Never have they looked back since.JK

A hundred friends I may have;
it's alright if they are no more.
For one in my heart is more than enough.
The one that my thoughts return to
when the world becomes silent.
The one that fulfills my soul with contentment.
I may not have a hand to hold on to;
but I grip to his very being
with all my strength.

More than words.....the clarity of crystaline waters that flow down the mountains .... intertwining all unconditional beauty of nature, the way it was meant to be. Deep green slopes beckon...there is nothing unreal in the path that emerges for the footsteps of life *Heart*

He who binds to himself a joy... Does the winged life destroy... But he who kisses the joy as it flies... Lives in eternity's sun rise...! Anonymous

74.  The Solitary ReaperID #694267
Posted: 4-26-2010 @ 6:08 am EDT

Today someone compared my most recent poem, Golden Fields "Invalid Item to William Wordsworth's Solitary Reaper.....!

THE SOLITARY REAPER
BEHOLD her, single in the field,
Yon solitary Highland Lass!
Reaping and singing by herself;
Stop here, or gently pass!
Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound.

No Nightingale did ever chaunt
More welcome notes to weary bands
Of travellers in some shady haunt,
Among Arabian sands:
A voice so thrilling ne'er was heard
In spring-time from the Cuckoo-bird,
Breaking the silence of the seas
Among the farthest Hebrides.

Will no one tell me what she sings?--
Perhaps the plaintive numbers flow
For old, unhappy, far-off things,
And battles long ago:
Or is it some more humble lay,
Familiar matter of to-day?
Some natural sorrow, loss, or pain,
That has been, and may be again?

Whate'er the theme, the Maiden sang
As if her song could have no ending;
I saw her singing at her work,
And o'er the sickle bending;--
I listened, motionless and still;
And, as I mounted up the hill
The music in my heart I bore,
Long after it was heard no more.
William Wordsworth

I was quite taken aback as I do not believe that I am anywhere close to any famous poet or any worthy poet for that matter... Smile
As a matter of fact, I am still quite speechless about it..!! Lol

These were the words of the admirer of my poem in comparison:

"The poem is excellent!! It reminds me of "Solitary Reaper" by William Wordsworth...jst d big difrnce being d magnificent union of two lovers...wow! " (not a WDC member...hehe)

To be honest, I hardly recall reading William Wordsworth. As a matter of fact, I hardly read, memorised or recall any writings of any distinguished poets of the past or even the present. During Literature classes, I was more engrossed in Chaucer or a couple of Shakespeare's plays as that too were practically forced upon. Bigsmile

Poetry is a creation of one's soul. The words tend to flow out naturally from within based on the passion one feels in regards to the topic or the core subject. It is unique, it is individual. The efforts of a solitary reaper. Smile

Nevertheless, I am definitely touched by my "poetry admirer" 's enthusiastic comparison to Wordsworth... Pthb. I am sure he knows "many more writers" who prescribe to higher standards of writing compared to mine. Pthb

However, I am thrilled to discover that there are similarities between Wordsworth's style of writing and mine (Woohooo...!!!). And to think that I was writing some random style of "gibberish"...! No proper rhyming and rhythm, stanzas and counts...!!! Pthb

I have my "poetry admirer" to thank for the discovery of the renowned William Wordsworth...! I love you for that...!! xxx

Respect and Love; two of the most undervalued words these days.The lack of them does not put a break on needs and wants; these two on the other hand are still much in demand while continually undervaluing the intergrity of the seemingly unwanted R and L. With the exception that there thrives a special bunch of "fools" who still hang on to them. Bigsmile

The sleepy eyes speaks to the lethargic heart, the lethargic heart speaks to to the tired soul...why in the world do we face a rising and setting of the sun when each day seems just the same.....all the blooms, all of spring and summer does not change anything in all beating hearts.....

The roots of your life will always be the same, no matter how many times you "replant" yourself...!! It's about respecting yourself, those who came before you and touching base with reality.

Walking around with an air of confidence doesn't necessarily signify arrogance... Pthb

It may as well be your soul rooting you to live life to the most, which of course is not known to others...!!!

Cheers...!! Smile
