I can't say anything about your dad. My parents were no help to me trying to get through school either, but they honestly couldn't afford it. My dad was a coal miner for many years and then an electrician and they had a hard time making ends meet. But I know you can do this. Just...make sure you make enough to pay back the student loans after school and try--really, really try--to make payments while you're going to school. It'll help. Trust me!

On the characters? When they're talking, take the time to zone out and listen. The book you were reading will be there when they're done talking, but sometimes, once they've said something, they don't say it again. Keep up the good work!

Change is hard for us. I have to tell you a funny story. When I was pregnant with my younger son, we used to go to Jack-in-the-box for lunch when we went to town, which back then was once, maybe twice a month. Anyway, I loved the chicken fajita pitas or whatever they were called. I got one every time we went, it was my thing to get then. One time we went and they didn't have them. I actually cried. Of course being pregnant didn't help. It was a routine I'd gotten into, it was a comfort for when we were in town.

As I said, change is hard for us. I'm taking small steps toward changing my life. I started out just recently, keeping my kitchen sink empty, the faucet shined and the counter space on either side of it clean. That was my one thing to get used to. Now, I've moved on to keeping the counter surfaces and other surfaces up off the floor clutter free. I'm working on the rest of the house, but it that gets a bit messy I don't worry about it until the kitchen is spotless above the floor. Next, I'll start making sure the floor is done, sweeping once a day, mopping once a week or more if needed. Then, I'll move on, but not until that becomse a habit.
