 276.  My ultrasound is this afternoonID #686945

Fidál (Grace), 3 Mulk (Dominion), 166 BE – Tuesday, February 9, 2010 about 10:46 AM Pacific Time

I still don't know whether the mass in my left breast is anything to worry about. My second ultrasound is this afternoon at 3:30 and then I still have to see the breast specialist again. I thought the ultrasound was on February 2, but when I went to the clinic last week, they said it was on February 9.

After I get the ultrasound, then I have to see the specialist, but no one has called me from that office and I've called two or three times. If someone doesn't call this afternoon or Wednesday morning, then I'm going to call again. I'm probably being over anxious, so I guess I need to just calm down and focus on other things.

I still have a 500-word description to write and post before Wednesday afternoon. I have other things I need to do this week unfortunately, I need money to do them. I have a tank full of gas, the car insurance and the power bill paid. I think I'm looking for something to worry about because everything appears to be going smooth or at least smoother (is that a word) then normal.

 275.  More storms on their way to Las VegasID #686826

Kamál (Perfection), 2 Mulk (Dominion), 166 BE – Monday, February 8, 2010 about 7:04 AM Pacific Time

I have to admit that the rain is getting a little old. We've already had more rain in 2010 the in all 2009. It rained Saturday evening and there are two more storms on their way to Las Vegas. When I checked the weather report in one of my e-mail boxes, it said we could expect more rain on Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. The second storm is supposed to arrive on Friday.

I looked out my living room window and I see clouds. I hear what sounds like thunder, but this is Las Vegas. Just because something sounds like thunder doesn't mean it is thunder. It could be anything from an explosion or construction noise to a fighter jet. If the jets are far enough away the echo sounds like thunder, especially on a cloudy day.

I'm not looking forward to driving in the rain, but I have to go to Henderson tomorrow afternoon. If it's raining I'm just going to have to suck it up and go. The problem is figuring out which street to take. I can take Interstate 95 to Henderson, the problem is the traffic on 95 at 2:00 in the afternoon. Of course, that may be the best route to take if it's raining. My other two choices are Boulder Highway and Eastern Avenue. Both those streets flood or used to flood when it rains. I don't know how well the flood control works on either one of them. Oh well, I'll decided tomorrow before I go.

Jamál (Beauty), 1 Mulk (Dominion), 166 BE – Sunday, February 7, 2010 about 4:07 PM Pacific Time

it's the first day of Mulk (Dominion), it's also Sunday and the beginning of a new week. In March, I'll be celebrating Naw-Ruz, celebrating a New Year. I'm looking forward to Naw-Ruz, but before then I'm going to have to make some changes in my schedule. I seem to have difficulty writing during the middle part of the day, therefore, I'm going to do housework then and let my virus scan run.

Today the virus scan detected 55 warnings and yesterday 44 warnings, when I run SpyBot it only detects one warning.. I'm going to have to do something about the warnings, but I'm not sure what at the moment. I may end up calling one of the companies that make house calls and them check it out. In the mean time, I'm going to spend a day or two cleaning off the hard drive myself and backing up all my documents.

I encountered the issue with the warning last year about this time. After several times of rebooting the system after a scan the problem cleared up. The first thing I need to do is clean out the temporary Internet files and see if that takes care of the problem. Sometimes that works, if that doesn't work then I'll have to do something else. I need to have this issue cleared up before Naw-Ruz so that I can start 167 BE out fresh.

 273.  Cloudy and Rainy in Las VegasID #686614

Edited: 2-6-2010 @ 4:53 pm EST

I think the clouds are getting to me. I'm always happier with sunshine, I enjoy a sunny day better then a rainy day. Of course, we've had more rain in Las Vegas in the first two month of 2010 then in all 2009. True my car has never been cleaner on the outside, but I'm beginning to get tired of the rain.

The Feast of Mulk is tonight at 7:00 PM, so I think I'll complete this entry and get off line for a while. I'm fixing something to eat and then I'll attempt to finish some stories or something this afternoon before we go to feast.

Jalál (Glory), 19 Sultán (Sovereignty), 166 BE – Friday, February 5, 2010 about 6:08 PM Pacific Time

I didn't hear any rain. I didn't hear any thunder. I didn't see any lightning. I got up, looked out the window and my driveway was wet. Las Vegas has already had more rain in one month (January) then in all of 2009. The rain shouldn't have surprised me because it was predicted, but this is Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is so large that it can rain in one part of town and not another. It can flood in one part of the city and not in another. If it doesn't rain at the airport, then the rain isn't official. I haven't looked at the news tonight, I really don't care if the rain is official or unofficial because it means I can't ware my Crocs to take the trash to the curb in the morning.

I like to ware my Crocs, but the only place I can ware them is at home. The reason for this is that they are a bit large, even with socks. I don't ware them when I drive, I don't even have them in the car with me. I ware my other shoes when I drive.

My brother sent me the Crocs. I've gotten used to them being large. They are comfortable and I've found a pair of socks that make them fit better. I'm beginning to sound a bit childish. I think it's a combination of the rain and the need for a vacation; I'll settle for going out to eat. On the other hand, it could be that I'm worried about the lump in my breast and I don't want to admit I'm worried.

I sometimes sound childish when I'm worried and I don't want to admit I'm worried. Maybe I'll just relax this evening and write form poetry.

 271.  Space WeatherID #686434

Istijlál (Majesty), 17 Sultán (Sovereignty), 166 BE – Thursday, February 4, 2010 about 3:50 PM Pacific Time

I received information about space weather today. Every year NASA Goddard Space Flight Center sends me information about Sun-Earth Day and the Sun-Earth connection. This packet of material contains information about space weather. I received a folder containing several items including information on magnetic storms and Eclipses. There is even a CD in the packet that I can view.

The first place to start is the introduction, which is titled An Introduction to Space Weather, I should be able to get, at least, one poem from that section of the material. I may even use some of the information in a short story or flash fiction. I think a flash fiction, but I'm not sure until I read the information.

The packet also contains a section about sunspots, Highlights of Historical Space Weather. This section lists sunspot cycles from 1842 to the present. The sunspot information sounds like a good theme for a poem, since I haven't written poems about sunspot this is a good place to start.

Another intriguing item is Do Killer Electrons Affect You and gives information about what killer electrons are and where to find them. It's going to take me a while to look through all this information and decide precisely how I'm going to use it. I feel like a kid with a new toy.

 270.  Surprise in the Broom ClosetID #686272

‘Idál (Justice), 16 Sultán (Sovereignty), 166 BE – Wednesday, February 3, 2010 abou 6:42 AM Pacific Time

My life is becoming interesting and in some ways exciting. This is trash collection day in my neighborhood, so this morning I rolled the trashcan to the curb. Before I went outside, I the plastic bag from the trashcan under the sink. When I came back in the house, I looked in the broom closet for another plastic bag.

Eventually I found an empty trash bag to put in the trashcan under the sink. I also found two plastic grocery bags containing used cat litter. Mom sifts the cat litter, she uses a slotted metal spatula that is kept hanging in the broom closet. Apparently, when she puts the spatula back she sometimes puts the bags of cat litter in the broom closet as well.

In Mom's condition she does put things away in unusual places and then forgets where she put them. If I say anything to her, she gets angry; I don't say anything about stuff like this anymore. I make mental notes concerning the location of the items and if they are "lost" again, I look where I last found them.

This is the first time I've found bags of used cat litter in the broom closet. I have to clean that closet out and see if other bags of used cat litter are "hidden" in that closet. The broom closet needed cleaning out anyway because there isn't any room for the broom anymore and I have no idea what that closet contains.

 269.  Walking seems to be a theme todayID #686219

Edited: 2-2-2010 @ 9:05 pm EST

I had a dream about walking early this morning. When I got up, I turned on the computer and typed the dream into a document. The title is Walking to Boulder City, Nevada, I think I'm going to post the dream in my port later this week. Anyway, when I read my writing.com e-mail I found Lesson 4 of Turning on the Lights. The title of that lesson is Walking in the Sunshine, which is interesting.

In the dream I I was walking to Boulder City at night, I didn't end up in Boulder City. In the dream, I ended up looking into a quarry in another dimension. The dream was full of symbols. I just thought it was interesting that I had a dream about walking and then when I read the Lesson 4 the word walking was in the title.

I was extremely tired last night when I went to bed. I'm not sure why I was tired, perhaps it had something to do with sitting in the eye doctors office all afternoon waiting for Mom to see a doctor. When I went to bed last night, I fell asleep right away and I didn't wake up until I had the dream.

The weird thing is that I had the dream sleeping in my own bed. I usually dream when I'm sleeping on the couch or the love seat, but not in my bed. I haven't dreamed while sleeping in my own bed for about a year. At least, I haven't remembered any dreams I may have had in my bed. Maybe I'm back to dreaming in my own bed again.

 268.  Writing about Washing DishesID #686094

Fidál (Grace), 15 Sultán (Sovereignty), 166 BE – Monday, February 1, 2010 about 6:52 PM Pacific Time

I'm attempting to write a poem about washing dishes. I did get one stanza completed and then encountered a brick wall. Grandma loved to wash dishes. Grandma loved to do house work. She would get up in the middle of the night and clean house. Grandpa would be in bed snoring away and Grandma would be cleaning house.

I haven't started cleaning house in the middle of the night, but I have did dishes. In fact, I'm going to do dishes tonight before I go to bed. Today Mom and I spent the afternoon in her eye doctor's office. The doctor evaluated Mom for cataract surgery on her left eye and then scheduled the surgery for March 31.

Spending all afternoon in a doctor's office is tiring. On the way home, we stopped at Port o' Subs and bought the 2 ft. special. We ate half the sandwich for dinner and we have half left for breakfast in the morning. After we ate, Mom went to bed. She didn't get the dishes washed today, so I'm going to have to wash them tonight or wake up to dirty dishes in the sink.

Come to think about it, Mom hasn't did the dishes on a regular basis lately, I'm the one doing them. I'm going to have to encourage her to wash dishes. Mom always liked washing dishes, maybe if I bought her a new dishpan, she'd do them more often. It isn't that I don't like doing dishes, but Mom needs to do something that would make her feel useful.

 267.  I saw the Wolf Moon last nightID #685867

Jalál (Glory), 12 Sultán (Sovereignty), 166 BE – Saturday, January 30, 2010 about 1:01 PM Pacific Time

I step outside my house after sunset, not something I'm in the habit of doing, but last night was the night of the Wolf Moon. The first full moon of the year is called the Wolf Moon, it's a winter moon that according to legend hungry wolves howl at; I didn't hear any wolves howling. Despite the high thin clouds I did see the bright, big, beautiful Wolf Moon. I also saw the planet Mars which was to the left of the moon. Mars looked like a ruby glowing in the night sky.

The light pollution in Las Vegas interferes with stargazing, unless you go to one of the hotel-casinos and pay to see a show. On a clear night in the city, I can sometimes see the Big Dipper or the Little Dipper. Planet, such as Mar, Venus, or Jupiter, are visible if you know what you're looking for; planet don't twinkle like stars and they don't move like air planes or satellites.

The moon is visible on clear night or night when the clouds are high and thin. If you really want to see the stars, not those appearing on the Las Vegas Strip, then you have to get out of town. You have to get a long way out of town because the hotel-casinos aren't confined to the strip anymore and their light pollution is visible from Boulder City or Searchlight. I doubt that Nelson's Landing is a good place to stargaze anymore, all though, I think it's still a good place to see UFOs.
