I'm going to use this to store and display my writing for NaNoWriMo. Hopefully SOMEBODY will read it from time to time, and at least offer encouragement... Projected synopsis: NaNoWriMo prohibits starting to write until November 1st, but I do have a pretty good idea of what the novel will be about. These young guys, just finishing high school, realize that with their incredible good looks and parents' money, they should be able to make it big on MTV. None of them have much talent or ambition. When discussing what makes some bands really massive, they come up with the idea that one-hit wonders have come up with a bunch of massive songs. They decide to cover one-hit wonder songs, and get lots of hits. Of course they hit the big time, become immensely popular, sign a record deal, and start a tour. While on tour the lead singer meets a girl who he falls in love with. She is talented and ambitious, and when she realizes that he's just a sell-out, she dumps him. He realizes that he is a big waste of space, so he decides to learn how to sing and write a song. In so doing, he leaves the band. Instead of moving on without him, they end up backing him, and eventually they actually come up with a pretty good song. In the end, the lead singer is reconciled with his dream-girl, and everybody feels really good about themselves. |
