Beyond the Gate
Jeih finds herself enchanted by the world beyond the gate, but are things as they seem?

It was a gate that was wedged between two large trees adorned with blood-red leaves. Chills passed through me as I began to sense that there was something unnatural about this gate, aside from the obvious fact that it didn't belong there in the first place...The black, iron bars were cold and stiff to the touch, and I couldn't help but worry that there was something...sinister about them. But there couldn't be, could there? Glancing between the bars, I could clearly see through it to the other side. It was just a gate, a stupid, pointless gate...

Sixteen-year-old Jeih Chung is bored of her ordinary life. She dreams of being the heroine of her own adventure, of doing something fantastic and great. But when she comes across a mysterious gate, Jeih thinks her wish as come true, for on the other side lies a dark, strange, and downright surreal other-world, where shadow-creatures, giant, hideous insects, and other peculiar beings. But what is merely a game and escape for Jeih is a very serious matter for some of the world's inhabitants, as she discovers when a mentally deranged woman under the alias of "The Doctor" warns Jeih to be on her guard. For the world beyond the gate is full of secrets, secrets so dark and dangerous they could destroy Jeih and everything she holds dear, but only if she gives in to temptation and is unable to overcome her weaknesses...

Author's Note: While I apologize for this still being a work in progress, I do just want to take a moment to mention that reviews are not only welcome, but contructive reviews would also be appreciated. I am writing this piece for my own enjoyment (not publication), but I do want to make it the very best it can be.

And now, without further ado, it is time to begin Jeih's story...if you dare to read on, that is.
