Catherine was not nearly as young as she was the first time she attempted to pursue her dream and things were not any easier this time around. In many instances age and experience work to your advantage. Not when it comes to entering one of the most closely guarded good ole boy networks known to man. Catherine was not sure, but she seriously thought that it might be easier to be accepted as a police officer than as an active member of Pure Town Volunteer Fire Co. Catherine thought, wrongly, that since all the big city companies and many of the larger volunteer companies had all accepted and appeared to embrace their woman members the Pure Town would follow suit. Not only was this not the case, but it appeared it would be harder now than it was when she joined Belleview Volunteers at the tender young age of 16.
