On January 15, 2007, I crossed paths for the first time with Russell T. Hartsaw at a discussion site called Duno.

We quickly became friends, and he told me about the large number of homeless youth who came from many parts of the USA to settle in San Diego, California due to its relatively-favorable year 'round climate and all of the places (e.g. canyons, wooded areas) where they could create a living space that gave them at least some control over their lives, even though this new environment wasn't a perfect one.

On March 26 of that same year, Invisible Youth Network--having a mission to reach out to these kids, others like them, and those who might not be homeless but still were considered to be at-risk of falling through the cracks of society--was launched.
