My Beautiful, Beautiful Marjorie

She filled the gulf of my empty life
And on my knees when I fell and begged
She graciously said she’ll become my wife

Preface

1  Show me the light; show me the way
2  Marjorie
3  O once I heard a mystic say
4  Of love and bondage
5  I’m so proud I must be mad
6  So come on, baby, let’s have fun
7  Come, look at me and give me a smile
8  O if you fell for a beautiful girl
9  Don’t say don’t
10  I just can’t win
11  Oh, how I love that girl of mine
12  No, I don’t want to be in love again
13  O come and see your lover’s plight
14  Oh, I’m so lonely; I’m so blue
15  Oh, it’s the same all over again
16  The breeze is bringing the scent of a friend
17  Some good in life we ought to do
18  I want to be hit by a thunderbolt
19  O give me back my peace of mind
20  So please come back and deceive me again
21  Put on your best and wear a smile
22  So I’m the Romeo of the lovers’ lore
23  If only, darling, you’ll give them a chance
24  Make me, O Lord, your worthy slave
25  No peace to life did it ever bring
26  Yes, go, my love, but before you go
27  O look how fast the things can change
28  You can’t help loving those gorgeous girls
29  I think I’m falling in love with you
30  O before you fall for a beautiful belle
31  May they last forever and ever
32  From here to eternity
33  But it’s all right; I don’t really mind
34  I see in her face the glory of God
35  So sigh you not O heart of mine
36  Her hair, it's cruel the way she ties
37  So go and beg for the mercy of God
38  To make me jealous, she thinks, it's fair
39  He loves her dainty, precious nose
40  But I love you more, a whole lot more
41  Oh, how it reflects your beautiful face
42  I know you won’t come but don’t say no
43  I do; I do
44  This night is endless; it gives me a fright
45  So love is not all hunky-dory
46  But she has no right to break my heart
47  She tells me to take some Tylenol
48  She becomes a goddess and looks divine
49  She robs and plunders your heart and soul
50  And make me loving, most of all
51  So close to me and yet so far
52  And think his heart is a piece of meat
53  Now repent I must
54  I moaned, and groaned, and sighed, and cried
55  So don’t be a fool; be a good diplomat
56  And never, never will I let you go
57  He has to be there
58  My nights are dark without your moon
59  The great turmoil in my soul does cease
60  This love long distance is not for me
61  Tough love
62  I’m afraid it’s all a little too late
63  She also flirts with all my friends
64  I’m totally shattered; I’m falling apart
65  O my heart, my poor little heart
66  They come back as flowers
67  O let me see you once in a while
68  Reveal yourself, O Lord, to me
69  My self-control I cannot trust
70  May I hold your hand, my dear?
71  What a fool I was
72  O when you’re away
73  But still, my love, you do need love
74  So, baby darling, some mercy show
75  That fateful night
76  And soon I knew it was no more
77  You love me not
78  O wait till you see the vision of God
79  Be nice and give your lover a break
80  Come kiss me once and kiss me twice
81  O it was nice my knowing you, dear
82  Your beauty, love, will last forever
83  But still I say it’s most unfair
84  Your mate and lover O let me be
85  I love you, I love you, I do, I do
86  O what do I do; O what do I do?
87  In love, we all know, everything is fair
88  So go and love with your heart and soul
89  I miss you, I miss you, I miss you a lot
90  No, I will never get tired of you
91  People in love don’t say good-bye
92  I’m your lover, a full time lover
93  I love you, I love you, I love you so
94  I’m not going to fall in love again
95  No one can love you as much as I
96  Until you hear the rooster crow
97  Someone like her you cannot find
98  And we’ll both live in eternal bliss
99  O please, I beg you, leave me not
100  The all-encompassing nothingness

Preface

The author, Khalid Hameed Shaida, was born in Delhi, India on December 1, 1929. He became a doctor in Pakistan in 1953 and joined Pakistan Army. In 1957 he moved to the United States and later practiced medicine in Canada and the United States and retired in 2000 at the age of 70 years.
Fearing retirement at the age of 65 he interested himself in Persian and Urdu poetry and started translating the great Persian masters, Khusro, Hafiz, Ghalib and Iqbal in his mother tongue Urdu. His Urdu translations have been published and reprinted in Pakistan many, many times since.

In 2008 at the age of 78 he became interested in English poetry and began translating Persian and Urdu poetry in English. He became a member of www.writing.com and began displaying his translations there. And because the public response to his English poetry was very encouraging, he continued. He has since published six books, "Khusro, The Indian Orpheus", "Amir Khusro, The Nightingale of India", "Hafiz, The Voice of God", "Hafiz, Drunk with God", "Ghalib, The Indian Beloved" and "Faiz, A Wailing Nightingale", in paper, electronic and audio forms. These are being sold by many of the renowned online book sellers all over the world and the response has been very good
Encouraged, the author started writing his own English poetry and is now daring to publish a hundred of his own poems in this volume. Shaida writes about love and beauty. He can become quite inspiring when he prays to God:

You sent me here to do some good
And try to establish a brotherhood
But this holy mission I misunderstood
And made only, instead, a livelihood

You sent me also your people to serve
And your moral code to strictly observe
But from this mission I often did swerve
And always remained behind the curve

So I come to you in great dismay
My life is in total disarray
O I’m a sinner, I’ve gone astray
So, O my Lord, I pray, I pray
Show me the light; show me the way

Myself your servant O let me call
And a sense of Justice in me install
And me with compassion O please enthrall
And make me loving, most of all
O God, O God, O God, O God

Then he starts to ask some difficult questions:

Although by nature I am devout
When I reflect I begin to doubt
I start to wonder why I exist
And what this world is all about?

I start to wonder why I am here
And why is it what I see and hear
And why I love and why I hate
And why I hope and why I fear?

And ventures to answer a few of them:

O once I heard a mystic say
When he was getting quite old and gray
That God didn’t make the Garden of Eden
Somewhere out in the seventh heaven
He made it in our Adam’s mind
As a thing to be built by the humankind
On a rocky sphere called Planet Earth
The home of man and a place of his birth
In the spiral arm of the Milky Way
To bring forth flowers in the month of May
Where people could live in peace and ease
Away from hunger, war and disease

And the fruit God said man shouldn’t eat
Was only because it was bittersweet
It made him into a god-like creature
With moral judgment an exceptional feature
Now he had to choose between good and bad
A choice, he wished, he never ever had
He now had to fight and fight the sin
In a constant battle which was hard to win

And then, when he thinks of afterlife, he cannot resist becoming mystical:

One night when I was in my bed
An angel came to me and said
That he had come to take me away
Because he had heard that I was dead………

We flew and flew until we came
To a place which had no real name
And when I asked if it was hell or heaven
He said things there were all the same

And then he told me not to guess
For this was in essence, more or less
Of what was real and what was not
This all-encompassing nothingness

From the other world he inevitably turns to the world of sense and when he sees all these beautiful girls, he cries out:

Your beautiful, beautiful brown eyes
They charm, and enchant and mesmerize
Your red, red cheek that, like a flower
Has every heart under its power
Your juicy lips with ruby red wine
Are sugary sweet and simply divine
Your golden curls when flying in the air
Cause in every heart the fire to flare
Your slender neck and your bulging breast
They win every heart without contest
Your comely hips and your narrow waist
They lure every heart, however chaste
Your shapely legs and your dainty feet
They cause every heart to miss a beat
So may they last forever and ever
And lose their charm they never, never, never

When men I see in the lovers’ lane
Kissing the girls again and again
In my wounded heart I feel the pain
I get so lonely; I feel so blue

So when those lips I want to kiss
And when that bosom I want to press
And when that body I want to caress
Don’t say, baby, don’t say - don’t

And then he becomes playful and wants to have a little fun:

O yes, I know it’s a beautiful night
The moon is shining and the stars are bright
But still there’s something that’s not right
For in my chest it feels very tight
I think I’m falling in love with you

You know I’m not that kind of a guy
I do not sigh and I do not cry
And I’ve no trouble in saying good-bye
But now of yearning I’m going to die
Because I’ve fallen in love with you

Men, say the girls, you cannot trust
They do not love; they can only lust
But let me tell you, it’s very unjust
It's men who suffer and who go bust
So yes, I’ve loved some girls before
But I love you more, a whole lot more

Okay, okay, you may be right
But, baby, it’s a beautiful night
So let us drink and let’s get tight
And let’s be loving and let’s not fight
Sure I’ve loved some girls before
But I love you more, a whole lot more

And lastly:

O once there was a darling doll
And she was slim, and trim, and tall
She used to flirt with one and all
And in so doing she had a ball

And then there was this older guy
Who fell in love with this butterfly
To see her face he’d try and try
And when he couldn’t, he’d sit and cry

He tried to stay all dignified
And kept his pain and grief inside
But when his love he could not hide
He hanged himself and quietly died

So love is not all hunky-dory
And can be glum, and grim, and gory
And often it makes a sad story
Which when we hear, we all feel sorry

1  Show me the light; show me the way

I come, O God, in great dismay
My life is in total disarray
And I’m a sinner; I’ve gone astray
So, O my Lord, I pray, I pray
Show me the light; show me the way

You sent me here to do some good
And try to establish a brotherhood
But this holy mission I misunderstood
And made only, instead, my livelihood

So I come to you in great dismay
My life is in total disarray
O I’m a sinner; I’ve gone astray
So, O my Lord, I pray, I pray
Show me the light; show me the way

You sent me also your people to serve
And your moral code to strictly observe
But from this mission I often did swerve
And always remained behind the curve

So I come to you in great dismay
My life is in total disarray
O I’m a sinner; I’ve gone astray
So, O my Lord, I pray, I pray
Show me the light; show me the way

And now that I am so old and weak
And everything appears to me so bleak
I am very ashamed; I can hardly speak
And your forgiveness I’ve come to seek

So I come to you in great dismay
My life is in total disarray
O I’m a sinner; I’ve gone astray
So, O my Lord, I pray, I pray
Please forgive me and show me the way

2  Marjorie

I came to the U.S. looking for her
After I saw her in my dream
Oh, she was beaming and she was gleaming
And looking so pretty, I could scream

My beautiful, beautiful Marjorie
My darling lovely Marjorie
She’s my life; she’s my soul
Oh, how I love my Marjorie

Somewhere in the north of Ohio
There’s a place of great renown
Here they make the finest glass
And proudly call it Toledo Town

My beautiful, beautiful Marjorie
My darling lovely Marjorie
She’s my life; she’s my soul
Oh, how I love my Marjorie

So in this place called Toledo Town
She was born and she was raised
Here she grew up to become a belle
And was admired and widely praised

My beautiful, beautiful Marjorie
My darling lovely Marjorie
She’s my life; she’s my soul
Oh, how I love my Marjorie

And here one day when she was home
In came there charging a handsome lad
And when he swept her off her feet
She said she’ll marry him and he was glad

My beautiful, beautiful Marjorie
My darling lovely Marjorie
She’s my life; she’s my soul
Oh, how I love my Marjorie

She was happily married with many kids
But then one day the cruel fate
Came in and said his time was up
And took her young and vigorous mate

My beautiful, beautiful Marjorie
My darling lovely Marjorie
She’s my life; she’s my soul
Oh, how I love my Marjorie

So then she went up to Carrietown
And decided to sell the real estate
There I met her buying my house
And could not wait to ask for a date

My beautiful, beautiful Marjorie
My darling lovely Marjorie
She’s my life; she’s my soul
Oh, how I love my Marjorie

And it was love at the very first sight
She filled the gulf of my empty life
And on my knees when I fell and begged
She graciously said she’ll be my wife

My beautiful, beautiful Marjorie
My darling lovely Marjorie
She’s my life; she’s my soul
Oh, how I love my Marjorie

And now we are in the south of Texas
In a beautiful place you cannot miss
It’s a friendly wood near a clear lake
And here we live in eternal bliss

My beautiful, beautiful Marjorie
My darling lovely Marjorie
She’s my life; she’s my soul
Oh, how I love my Marjorie

3  O once I heard a mystic say

O once I heard a mystic say
When he was getting quite old and gray
That God didn’t make the Garden of Eden
Somewhere out in the seventh heaven
He made it in our Adam’s mind
As a thing to be built by the humankind
On a rocky sphere called Planet Earth
The home of man and a place of his birth
In the spiral arm of the Milky Way

With moral judgment as an exceptional feature
Now he had to choose between good and bad
A choice, he wished, he never ever had
He now had to fight and fight the sin
In a constant battle which was hard to win

So I’ve the feeling our mystic was right
For he had acquired a deep insight
It’s now our duty to battle the vice
And build on this planet a paradise

4  Of love and bondage

Yes, God has given me the brawn and brain
But He also gave fate, my terrible bane

I’m in love with her; keep out of it
It’s none of your business, O pain, O pain

Her eyes, her nose, her mouth, her cheeks
Her brow, her hair, and its braided chain

Her neck, her breast, her waist, her legs
Her graceful pace and her stately train

She smiles, and charms, and lures, and flirts
From hurting her lover she doesn’t refrain

She hunts, and chases, and traps, and preys
She is cruel, and callous, and not humane

They say I’m crazy; I’ve lost my head
But I’m not deterred; I’ll do it again

I’ve tried my luck; I’ve loved and lost
But her faithful lover I still remain

5  I’m so proud I must be mad

O Burning Bush, come use your fire
To light my heart and soul entire

Come burn my heart with a sudden flash
Then make it rise from the heap of ash

Look, I’m a man; I’ve immense pride
Even God in Eden I have defied

Like straw I float atop an ocean
And think for me is all the commotion

I’m a speck of dirt but think I’m God
It sounds so odd but I’m never awed

O don’t you think I’m totally mad
For when I’m happy, I feel so sad

And I’m so tired; I feel so weak
That I feel doomed; my future is bleak

6  So come on, baby, let’s have fun

O come on, baby, let’s have fun
For tomorrow maybe we’ll have none
And after all is said and all is done
What’s going to happen knows no one

Let’s go to the beach and play and prance
Or go to the park and sing and dance
Or go to Italy or go to France
And eat and drink and have romance
And with some pomp and extravagance
Enjoy our happy circumstance

So come on, baby, let’s have fun
For tomorrow maybe we’ll have none
And after all is said and all is done
What’s going to happen knows no one

They tell us life is but a dream
From which we wake up only to scream
And if it’s real, it sure does seem
A very mysterious, strange scheme
So let us, therefore, beam and gleam
And make this life a joy supreme

So come on, baby, let’s have fun
For tomorrow maybe we’ll have none
And after all is said and all is done
What’s going to happen knows no one

7  Come, look at me and give me a smile

Come, look at me and give me a smile
And see how I behave like a juvenile

My heart is crazy; it acts like a child
So when it sees you, it simply goes wild

The spring has come and the flowers are here
My heart is aching; do something, my dear

For to see you even in the valley of the dead
Every lover jumps out of his old mortal bed

But you also know how to hurt your lover
And never to let him from his wound recover

But God loves a heart that are steeped in sorrow
So it can look forward to a better tomorrow

And the one who loves the creatures of God
Him God himself would like to applaud

8  O if you fell for a beautiful girl

O if you fell for a beautiful girl
She’ll simply make you whirl and twirl

And if you caught her after a chase
She’ll sleep all night; you’ll watch her face

The bell will toll; you’ll hear ding dong
And all night long you’ll long and long

And when she’s up, she’ll fight and fight
She’ll come on strong, and never be contrite

And when you’ll beg her to sit and talk
She’ll only blame you, and put you in the dock

And when you’ll ask her to marry you
She’ll quickly get up and say adieu

And one day when you will die, my friend
Even your funeral she’ll refuse to attend

9  Don’t say don’t

When those lips I want to kiss
When that bosom I want to press
When that body I want to caress
Don’t say, baby, don’t say don’t

In those eyes when I want to look
With those curls when I want to play
And something loving I want to say
Don’t say, honey, don’t say don’t

When that breast I want to embrace
When you in my arms I want to hold
When with my hands I want to be bold
Don’t say, sugar, don’t say don’t

And when I tell you that you are mine
And when I say for you I care
And when my love I want to declare
Don’t say, darling, don’t say don’t

10  I just can’t win

This Love is causing my downfall
My esteem and honor, I’ve lost them all

Her glowing face is so very bright
It’s seared my eyes; it’s burnt my sight

And when she tells me that she’ll come
To my excitement, oh, how I succumb

But with my rival when she comes to me
Oh, how it drives me up a tree

And when she tells me she’s going to leave
Oh, how I grieve; how I huff and heave

But if she ever becomes contrite
I just can’t resist it; I give up the fight

And then there’s also a bright side
So I should take it all in my stride

11  Oh, how I love that girl of mine

O like the moon her face does shine
And her lips are full of the ruby wine
O she’s so lovely; so totally divine
That I can’t help loving that girl of mine

Her beautiful, beautiful charming eyes
Oh, how they enchant and hypnotize
With just a look they mesmerize
So I can’t help loving that girl of mine

She has the poise, and charm, and style
The way she talks can surely beguile
She also has such a beautiful smile
So I can’t help loving that girl of mine

Of killing her lover she knows the art
She knows how to use her deadly dart
And jab, and stab, and wound the heart
So I can’t help loving that girl of mine

I know she’s cruel, and she’s not kind
And being in love with her is a grind
But a prettier girl you cannot find
So I can’t help loving that girl of mine

12  No, I don’t want to be in love again

I want no sorrow; I want no pain
I want no fetter; I want no chain
It’s full of tension, stress and strain
There’s nothing in it but emotional drain
No, I don’t want to be in love again

O you’re so young and fresh and new
Like on flowers the morning dew
A dazzling beauty through and through
Always very happy and never blue
And I’m too frail, too old to woo

Yes, I am tempted, I do not deny
And yes, your beauty is hard to defy
But believe me, I’m not your kind of guy
And it’s not going to work; don’t even try
So you leave me alone, my sweetie pie

13  O come and see your lover’s plight

O come and see your lover’s plight
His crying for you is quite a sight

O you, who look like the harvest moon
You can turn a dark into a moonlit night

Come give your lover your naughty look
And see the fire that it can ignite

And if you come, do please be alone
And do not with you his rival invite

Oh, people think your lover is mad
But they haven’t seen your figure, your height

And they also think he’s quite a slave
But your curls when they see, they’ll say he’s right

And after they see his rival’s tricks
They won’t say your lover is not very bright

14  Oh, I’m so lonely; I’m so blue

O why you left I don’t have a clue
And where you went I wish I knew
But I do know, love, what I’ve been through
Oh, I’m so lonely; I’m so blue

And now in the spring when the flowers come
When the bluebirds sing, and the people hum
My life becomes very burdensome
I feel so lonely; I feel so blue

When men I see in the lovers’ lane
Kissing their girls again and again
In my wounded heart I feel the pain
I get so lonely; I get so blue

And if at night there’s heavy rain
With thunder and lightning of a hurricane
Without you, darling, I become insane
I feel so lonely; I feel so blue

So come back, baby, come back please
And bring me back my peace and ease
I beg you and beg you on my knees
Oh, I’m so lonely; I’m so blue

15  Oh, it’s the same all over again

Oh, it’s the same all over again
I cry, and cry, and cry in vain

Yes, I was once a blessed lover
And she’d call me again and again

And she wouldn’t care what people said
She’d dance with me and drink Champaign

But gone are now those happy days
I moan, and groan, and cry with pain

And now she’s turned so heartless and cold
That me she wouldn’t bother even to disdain

But still somehow I’m in love with her
So with all my pain, I cannot complain

16  The breeze is bringing the scent of a friend

This waiting and waiting should come to an end
The breeze is bringing the scent of a friend

The bands of flowers are about to come
For the spring is arriving beating the drum

The rules of loving are about to change
The beautiful dames are no more strange

The lovers are also changing their tone
They no more groan; they do not so moan

Now a gal, when she hears her lover cry
She comes and kisses his tearful eye

Their lovers, the beauties do not berate
And the lovers don’t also bemoan their fate

And now when a lover is without his girl
He calls not the night her long black curl

17  Some good in life we ought to do

Although by nature I am devout
When I reflect I begin to doubt
I start to wonder why I exist
And what this world is all about?

I start to wonder why I am here
And why is it what I see and hear
And why I love and why I hate
And why I hope and why I fear?

I wonder why do we always fight
Even when it causes such horrible blight
And why we worship money and power
And why we think that might is right?

I wonder why we love to hate
And why we trap and why we bait
And why we believe it’s okay to hurt
And why we never can think straight?

I know it’s a very knotty issue
And I’ve no answer; I have no clue
But if we’re worth the salt we eat
Some good in life we ought to do

And though we’re odd and we’re flawed
We happen to be also the children of God

18  I want to be hit by a thunderbolt

Oh, since I’ve fallen in love with a gal
My friend is sorrow, and pain my pal

But she’s my idol, my goddess divine
And if I’m sinning, it is just fine

Night after night I feel her lack
And like her curls my nights are black

And oft in my soul I feel a revolt
And I want to be hit by a thunderbolt

I can’t even drink a glass of wine
Without seeing in it her image divine

So then I feel so terribly blue
That I want to try a little voodoo

And if it’d make her a little more kind
Living with my rivals I do not mind

In short, this loving is not any fun
It has no rhyme; it has no reason

19  O give me back my peace of mind
O give me back my peace of mind
This love is nothing but a terrible grind

I want no eye with a deadly dart
To jab, and stab, and wound my heart

I want no lips with a lovely smile
To bait my heart, and charm, and beguile

I want no gal to be false and feign
And make me feel I’m loved again

I do not want to again be young
And let my heart be stung and stung

I’m now too old to bear the pain
And worry my head about loss and gain

In short, my sins I’d like to atone
And I only wish girls would leave me alone

20  So please come back and deceive me again

O listen to me, I pray, I pray
I promise, I promise I’ll never say nay
I’m ready to believe whatever you say
And you don’t have to worry about my pain
So please come back and deceive me again

And if for you I yearn and pine
It is because you’re simply divine
And not that I think you’ll ever be mine
I promise, I promise I’ll never complain
So please come back and deceive me again

I know that beauties must always flirt
And that they’re cruel, callous and curt
And that their lovers they love to hurt
But that I’m stupid, I promise to feign
So please come back and deceive me again

21  Put on your best and wear a smile

Your brow is like the crescent moon
Your face has shine of the sun at noon
And to your charm no one is immune
So you put on your best and wear a smile

Your lips are full of the ruby wine
Your cheeks are rosy and the eyes divine
Your precious nose only God could design
So put on your best and wear a smile

And you have such nice brown hair
Its scent and fragrance you can smell anywhere
And it looks so lovely flying in the air
So put on your best and wear a smile

You’re tall and slim like a cypress tree
Your shape is as curvy as it can be
And you walk and talk with dignity
So put on your best and wear a smile

And you’ve the poise and you’ve the style
And you can enchant and you can beguile
So come with me and we’ll go places
Just put on your best and wear a smile

22  So I’m the Romeo of the lovers’ lore

O I’m the only one for her who dies
Though there’re so many who love those eyes

To hide my love I tried and tried
But failed I did; I could not hide

My secret of love I did not impart
But then they discovered my bleeding heart

They also saw her deadly dart
Stuck in deep in my wounded heart

And now I’ve become so weak and frail
That even he’s sorry, the nightingale

And that I’m wretched, they all concur
When the people see me dying for her

So I’m the Romeo of the lovers’ lore
Although she surely has lovers galore

23  If only, darling, you’ll give them a chance

Their hearts around you will dance and dance
If only, darling, you’ll give them a chance

You know, your lovers when you come to meet
Their hearts they all put under your feet

And when it comes and plays with your hair
Oh, how much they envy the morning air

And even to preachers when it brings your scent
They feel such lust, they don’t want to repent

And when you leave and say, “God be with you”
They can’t do without you; without God they can do

And when they’re crying and you complain
They feel like saying, “Don’t give us the pain”

But then it becomes a great scandal
When pain and sorrow the lovers can’t handle

24  Make me, O Lord, your worthy slave

O all my life I’ve been a knave
Weak in spirit and not very brave
I only took and never gave
But now my soul I want to save
So before I go into my grave
Make me, O Lord, your worthy slave

You asked me, Lord, to go and serve
My fellow humans without reserve
But your commands I did not observe
And your forgiveness I do not deserve
But still my soul I want to save
So make me, O Lord, your worthy slave

O You who made the heaven and earth
And gave me reason and wit at birth
You asked me to go and prove my worth
Instead, of compliance I showed a dearth
But now I pray my soul you save
And make me, O Lord, your worthy slave

I know your mercy I do not deserve
But I’m your slave and I want to serve

25  No peace to life did it ever bring

My life all has gone to waste
It has left with me a bitter taste

With crying and crying though I fell apart
I could not soften her stony heart

Listen she would not to anything I said
And no matter what, I couldn’t get ahead

But resist I could not her beautiful eyes
For they charm, and enchant, and mesmerize

And her lovely, charming, beautiful smile
It did enchant; it did beguile

For a glimpse of her I would pray and pray
And away from her I could never stay

No peace to life did it ever bring
So this love is a pretty useless thing

26  Yes, go, my love, but before you go

Yes, go, my love, but before you go
Just look at your lover, and see his woe

And look at the gloom and see the blight
And see his day, how it’s dark as night

Look how he suffers, and how he ails
And how he cries, and moans, and wails

Look how his sky has always a cloud
And see how lonely he feels in a crowd

And how he copes with pain and sorrow
And how his night has never a morrow

But seeing his ardor you will not regret
For you haven’t seen, darling, anything yet

And when he’s dying, it’s quite a show
He turns and tosses so to and fro

And though he says he’s not perfect
Look how in your love he has lost respect

27  O look how fast the things can change

One day you’re so young and strong
You’ve the brain, and you’ve the brawn
But before you know it, things go wrong
You’re old and weak; your youth is gone
O look, how fast the things can change

One day you are mighty and rich
You have the wealth, and you’ve the power
But then you slip and fall in a ditch
From the lofty abode of your ivory tower
O look, how fast the things can change

One day you see a gorgeous lass
You become her man; she becomes your gal
You’re both so happy, but then alas
She meets someone; she’s no more your pal
O look, how fast the things can change

28  You can’t help loving those gorgeous girls

You can’t help loving those gorgeous girls
Those luscious lips; those comely curls

For with those curls you do want to play
Your hands on them if you can only lay

And the girls can also be very, very nice
When you, their lovers, they want to entice

But they can also be ruthless and proud
When they want to control their lovers’ crowd

So then you feel very frail and weak
And the future of your love looks dark and bleak

And now if your love you want to hide
Do it you cannot, and look dignified

So it’s best if you take it in stride
And make your love your only guide

29  I think I’m falling in love with you

O I’m the same and you are too
But I have a feeling so totally new
A surge of passion that’s hard to subdue
I don’t know what I’m going to do
I think I’m falling in love with you

O yes, I know it’s a beautiful night
The moon is shining and the stars are bright
But still there’s something that’s not right
For in my chest it feels very tight
I think I’m falling in love with you

You know I’m not that kind of a guy
I do not sigh and I do not cry
And I’ve no trouble in saying good-bye
But now of yearning I’m going to die
Because I’ve fallen in love with you

30  O before you fall for a beautiful belle

O before you fall for a beautiful belle
Think of the parting, for it’ll be hell

But if you do fall, don’t be so zealous
For she’ll be heartless, and cruel, and callous

To touch her even you won’t be allowed
For she’ll be rough, and rude, and proud

All lifelong you will long and long
But alas, to you she’ll never belong

So fall in love, but don’t be so serious
For the bonds of love are totally mysterious

The ways of your heart are above your head
So ask not your brain; you’ll be misled

And though you may be the smartest chap
Don’t be so sure, you can fall in the trap

But die if you must, you might as well
Die for a very beautiful belle

31  May they last forever and ever

Your beautiful, beautiful, brown eyes
They charm, and enchant, and mesmerize

Your red, red cheek that, like a flower
Has every heart under its power

Your juicy lips with ruby red wine
Are sugary sweet and simply divine

Your golden curls when flying in the air
Cause in every heart the fire to flare

Your slender neck and your bulging breast
They win every heart without contest

Your comely hips and your narrow waist
They lure every heart, however chaste

Your shapely legs and your dainty feet
They cause every heart to miss a beat

So may they last forever and ever
And lose their charm they never, never, never

32  From here to eternity

Do I love you? O yes I do
And why do I do it? I don’t have a clue
I can surely live without food and water
But I know I cannot live without you

Would I miss you? O yes I would
And be without you? I never could
So if you left me ever, my pet
Could I survive? No likelihood

Would I leave you? Never, never, never
My ties with you no one can sever
And if you chose to live with me
I’ll love you, my dear, forever and ever

So come, my darling, come to me
Your mate for life O let me be
And we will break the bar of time
And go from here to eternity

33  But it’s all right; I don’t really mind

I know, I know she's not very kind
But it's all right; I don't really mind

For I'm so used to my sorrow and pain
That even when hurt, I do not complain

And she is a beauty who loves to flirt
And her I can never, never ever desert

And yes, I have fallen in love with a lass
Who never has known what love is, alas

And I feel very close to her, she knows
But even when near, she is never very close

And bound to a lover she never can be
Although her lover she’ll never set free

So people are right, I'm an amateur
But I'm not the only one dying for her

34  I see in her face the glory of God

O when I see that beautiful broad
I see in her face the glory of God

And when she comes out in the street
Like all her lovers I fall at her feet

And when she hides away from my eyes
Her in my heart I can still visualize

And when I see her aiming her dart
I beg her to target my lonely heart

And my wounded heart, when it starts to heal
To her for another I go and appeal

But when she's near and not very close
She greatly adds to my troubles and woes

And then I feel tremendous despair
And would like to kill myself, I swear

35  So sigh you not, O heart of mine

Love you her I know, I know
And she is a very beautiful doe
And cares she not a bit for you
When she knows you love her so

But sigh you not, O heart of mine
And do not you so wail
For one day it will all be fine
And then you will prevail

I know she flirts with everyone
And she goes out and she has fun
And if she makes you wait and wait
You surely aren’t the only one

So sigh you not, O heart of mine
And do not you so wail
For one day it will all be fine
And then you will prevail

I know she’s cruel and she’s cold
And you’re frail and you’re old
And while she likes expensive things
I also know you don’t have gold

But sigh you not, O heart of mine
And do not you so wail
For one day it will all be fine
And then you will prevail

I know you yearn, and crave, and pine
And to your fate you can resign
But love, my friend, does conquer all
And it’s so godly and so divine

So sigh you not, O heart of mine
And do not you so wail
For one day it will all be fine
And then you will prevail

36  Her hair, it's cruel the way she ties

Her hair, it's cruel the way she ties
And they're so callous, her beautiful eyes

Her eyes their victims oh, how they seek
And how they treat those poor and meek

And look at the way she throws her darts
And how she jabs and wounds the hearts

And see her lovers and their miserable plight
After they have waited for her all night

So don't you put them under the gun
Be kind to them and don't make fun

And heed not people, for know they not
What charm and beauty that gal has got

37  So go and beg for the mercy of God

You’re not odd; you’re not flawed
You know, you’ve never committed fraud
You even look like a man of God
But fear you must His lightening rod
So go and beg for the mercy of God

You’re nice and clean; you’ve nothing to hide
To the poor and needy you do provide
You are not haughty; you don’t have pride
But we’re all sinners deep inside
So go and beg for the mercy of God

Your bad impulses you try to control
Against corruption you want to enroll
You try to clean your heart and soul
But it’s hard to escape temptation’s toll
So go and beg for the mercy of God

Now when you hear the inner call
Your heart and mind you overhaul
And with your love you conquer all
But do not forget, you still can fall
So go and beg for the mercy of God

38  To make me jealous, she thinks, it's fair

She flirts with others when I'm there
To make me jealous, she thinks, it's fair

I sit in a corner, and watch her eyes
As they try attract the other guys

And about her flirting if I do complain
It's none of my business, she makes it plain

And having thrown at me her deadly dart
She comes to examine my wounded heart

And when I'm sad, and start to cry
She loves to see my tearful eye

And to kill myself, when she hears, I've tried
She wants to make sure that I have died

And then she goes and flirts again
Which simply makes me go insane

So you can see her lover how she annoys
And his pain and suffering how she enjoys

39  He loves her dainty, precious nose

Her mouth though is like a rose
He loves her dainty, precious nose

And kissing her lips, when he holds her close
His nose he rubs against her nose

But on his collar when she smells the flower
His poor little heart she does devour

And on her nose when it sees the pearl
His heart begins to whirl and twirl

But of his love if he makes her aware
She walks away with her nose in the air

And even when her lover falls on his knees
Her nose she turns up at all his pleas

40  But I love you more, a whole lot more

I know you do not believe me, dear
You seem to think I am cavalier
Not at all serious and not sincere
But I’m not, darling, what I appear
Yes, I’ve loved some girls before
But I love you more, a whole lot more

Men, say the girls, you cannot trust
They do not love; they can only lust
But let me tell you, it’s very unjust
It’s men who suffer and who go bust
So yes, I’ve loved some girls before
But I love you more, a whole lot more

Okay, okay, you may be right
But, baby, it’s a beautiful night
So let us drink and let’s get tight
And let’s be loving and let’s not fight
Sure I’ve loved some girls before
But I love you more, a whole lot more

41  Oh, how it reflects your beautiful face

When the wine cup on your lips you place
Oh, how it reflects your beautiful face

And Venus, when she sees your brow
She cannot resist and cries out - wow

And the harvest moon when your face it sees
It stoops to earth and falls on its knees

And in your absence the nightingale
It misses your lips and begins to wail

And your dimpled chin is like a well
That Joseph in it for life can dwell

And when your hair does fly in the air
Your lovers so yearn for its deadly snare

And in your bedroom when they see the light
These lovers sit and watch it all night

42  I know you won’t come but don’t say no

I know you won’t come but don't say no
Just make a promise and then don't show

I am your slave; don't set me free
In the bondage of love O just let me be

I want no potion, no remedy
Just give me a little bit of your sympathy

The ailment of love is very obscure
It has no treatment; it has no cure

And if you want to kill me, please go ahead
Just give me that look and I'll be dead

But to make me jealous you don't need my foe
So don't please kiss him and call him your beau

My rival is crafty; he has no shame
So please don't tell me it's just a game

And now I realize my friends are right
This love is no fun; it's a terrible blight

43  I do; I do

O I’m not smart; I’m not clever
My bonds of love I never can sever
I promise to love you forever and ever
I promise, my love, I do I do

When sitting with you in a moonlit night
I’ll kiss your lips and hold you tight
And a fire of love I’ll try to ignite
I promise, my love, I do, I do

From you, my dear, I’ll never part
And if you did, I’ll fall apart
You’ll be my queen; you’ll rule my heart
I promise, my love, I do, I do

If winter came in my lovely vale
Without my rose I’ll wail and wail
Just like a lonesome nightingale
I promise, my love, I do, I do

And if you left me, I won’t ask why
I’ll miss you and miss you, and cry and cry
But I’m going to love you until I die
I promise, my love, I do, I do

So come to me, and stay by my side
And I’ll make you in love my guide
My queen, my goddess, my joy, my pride
I promise, my love, I do, I do

44  This night is endless; it gives me a fright

It's dark all over, there is no light
This night is endless; O it gives me a fright

I'm groping and groping, O God, O God
Do send me my moon with her moonlight

My love-sick heart is beyond repair
O tell her to come and see its plight

And the more she pulls away from me
The more the bonds of my love get tight

And the more from me she tries to hide
The more my yearning she does excite

O send her before it's all too late
With so much crying, I'm losing my sight

So you see with me everything is wrong
Now only you, O Lord, can make things right

45  So love is not all hunky-dory

O once there was this darling doll
And she was slim, and trim, and tall
She used to flirt with one and all
And in so doing she had a ball

And then there was this older guy
Who fell in love with this butterfly
To see her face he’d try and try
And when he couldn’t, he’d sit and cry

He tried to stay all dignified
And kept his pain and grief inside
But when his love he could not hide
He hanged himself and quietly died

So love is not all hunky-dory
And can be glum, and grim, and gory
And often it makes a sad story
Which when we hear, we all feel sorry

46  But she has no right to break my heart

I've lost my power; I've lost my sway
O whatever I had, she has taken it away

I am not to complain; I am not to cry
I'm supposed to bear it, and ask not why?

My pain and sorrow are eating my heart
I'm totally broken; I'm falling apart

She's very beautiful; yes, it's true
But no one loves her like I do

I know she's gorgeous; I know she's smart
But she has no right to break my heart

My heart is full of tempestuous blood
And when it bleeds, it causes a flood

So I think she should be nice to me
And give me a little bit of her sympathy

47  She tells me to take some Tylenol

“My heart is hurting”, when I say to my doll
She tells me to take some Tylenol

And when I tell her my heart is aching
She thinks it's nothing; I'm only faking

And when I say that my heart is brittle
She tells me to go to a nice hospital

And when I shed my blood in tears
She thinks it's funny and simply jeers

But how do I tell this darling miss
That she can cure me with a simple kiss

And that my life wouldn't be so bleak
If I could only see her rosy cheek

And that this lover wouldn't so crave
If she'd take him and make him her slave

48  She becomes a goddess and looks divine

O when in the saloon refuge I seek
I see in the wine her rosy cheek

On the face of moon what appears a blot
Becomes on her cheek the beauty spot

She, like a candle, brightens my night
And being a moth I leap to her light

So when for her I feel the lust
My prudence and reason, they all go bust

Of my love and lust she's the fountainhead
And she can also raise me from the dead

And in the locks and curls of her golden hair
My poor little heart she can easily snare

But when for me she brings the wine
She becomes a goddess, and looks divine

49  She robs and plunders your heart and soul

She says she'll come but I can't be sure
For my pain and sorrow O there's no cure

In the path of love there is only despair
It's dark and twisted much like her hair

So when you're in love with a beautiful dame
You feel so helpless, so weak, so lame

For she only comes to take control
And to rob and plunder your heart and soul

And finding her lover so weak and meek
She plays the game of hide and seek

You yearn and yearn, and pine and pine
And she won’t even give you a glass of wine

And then they all tell you not to complain
For in love you grin and bear the pain

50  And make me loving, most of all

O God, O God, O God, O God
You gave him brain; you gave him brawn
You gave him Earth to forage upon
You brought him from Egypt and Babylon
And gave him Paris, London, and Bonn
You made him the lord of dusk and dawn
With all the might of Pentagon
And the savvy of the Valley of Silicon
But still he chose to be a con
And of mighty Satan a willing pawn
O God, O God, O God, O God

But ‘him’, O Lord, is really me
For I’m as bad as I can be
A willful sinner of nth degree
But now I feel much agony
Because way out I cannot see
And need your pity, your charity
So please, O please do set me free
From this so ugly depravity
O God, O God, O please my God

Myself your servant O let me call
And a sense of justice in me install
And me with compassion O please enthrall
And make me strong and make me tall
And make me loving, most of all
O God, O God, O please my God

51  So close to me and yet so far

You’re always, darling, within my heart
And from this abode you’ll never depart
And you’ll always remain my sweetheart
But then I wonder why you are
So close to me and yet so far?

I know it’s probably a little fib
So very offensive to the Women’s Lib
But people tell me you’re my rib
And if it’s true, then why you are
So close to me and yet so far?

So logic though I do not command
And the right answer I cannot demand
But still it’s difficult to understand
My baby darling, why you are
So close to me and yet so far?

The answer may be, because you are
My darling Venus, my brilliant star

52  And think his heart is a piece of meat

O when your lover you go to see
Do give him your love, not sympathy

And don't be alarmed if you see a mess
For he is a chump in great distress

In his woeful heart live sorrow and pain
For it's their home and their domain

His vital organs they like to eat
And think his heart is a piece of meat

His heart his eyes are supposed to protect
But this is a duty they often neglect

And they also know that every flower
Does lose with time its beauty and power

These beautiful flowers all come and go
So you, my dear, you should never say no

And your poor lover, you should realize
That it's for you that he cries and cries

53  Now repent I must

O please don't worry about my pain
It is my problem; I cannot complain

And you can't help being callous and cold
For that's a habit, I have been told

I'm sick and tired of my crazy heart
So come, my love, and take it apart

For a heart for you is only a toy
So don't hesitate and come and destroy

Oh, you look so beautiful when you're cross
That your being angry is never a loss

And on your kindness I have no claim
And if I've lost you, I'm only to blame

And yes, I'm a victim of my passion and lust
For which I know that repent I must

54  I moaned, and groaned, and sighed, and cried

I moaned, and groaned, and sighed, and cried
And without you, darling, I almost died

The twists and turns of your every lock
I sat and counted them around the clock

But the more I bore my sorrow and pain
The more you showed me your disdain

All night I was walking to and fro
While you were sleeping with my horrible foe

But my heart is used to troubles and woes
And that it's your captive, it also knows

And while the young are foolish and bold
My heart is proud of being silly and old

And though a lover you can easily discard
I just can’t take it; it’s very, very hard

55  So don’t be a fool; be a good diplomat

O yes, she's callous but don't call her that
And don't be a fool; be a good diplomat

And no matter how much she gives you pain
Don't call it that, and don't ever complain

You'd want to tell her what is in your heart
But you will never be able to make a start

And even when she would like to know
You will never be able to tell your woe

And when she would try to flirt with you
What should you do, you won't have a clue

But when they say you worship your belle
Tell them yes, you are an infidel

56  And never, never will I let you go

I’ve been looking and looking year after year
To find a gal like you, my dear
And now that, darling, I have found you here
To no one else will I let you near
And never, never will I let you go

And now that you I’ve finally found
We’re going to live on a higher ground
In a loving spell we’ll both be bound
And on magic carpet we’ll fly around
And never, never will I let you go

So with grace and beauty we’ll make a start
And of happy living we’ll master the art
And you’ll be a queen ruling my heart
And unto our death we are going to part
And never, never will I let you go

So with the help of God you’ll always be mine
And you I’ll worship as a goddess divine

57  He has to be there

Though of His being I am not aware
I have a feeling He must be there

See Him I cannot, for He loves to hide
But I know in my heart He does reside

Of the realm of being He takes good care
And even in the void He exists everywhere

And though He stays under a cover
He never does leave the heart of His lover

And when He lights in his heart the fire
It consumes the being of His lover entire

And though for the wise God may not be there
In the eye of His lover He’s completely bare

58  My nights are dark without your moon

My nights are dark without your moon
So come, my darling, please come soon

With my yearning heart and eager eyes
My love for you I can never disguise

But love has brought me only despair
And your being away I simply can't bear

You can part from me and stay apart
But part you can never from my heart

And why is it so; it's hard to explain
That I give you love and you give me pain?

And with so many stars in these eyes
Why love is such a gloomy enterprise?

59  The great turmoil in my soul does cease

In my breast are buried desires galore
It’s like a volcano you dare not ignore

Yes, I am crazy; I’m totally mad
But deceit and cunning do make me sad

And craft when I find selling its wares
I see everywhere its traps and snares

But when I notice her rosy cheek
I feel that things are not so bleak

And on her brow when I see her hair
I totally forget my woe and despair

In her I discover the beauty of God
And everything else appears so flawed

The great turmoil in my soul does cease
And in love I find the Heavenly peace

60  This love long distance is not for me

You say it’s best when your love is higher
And a girl from a distance you can admire
And suppress you can your burning desire
But, dear, you’ve set my heart on fire
And with so much smoke I cannot respire
So your close attention I do require
O please do come or I will expire

So please, my love, do come and see
How much I need your sympathy
Your love, your pity, your charity
So near me please do try to be
This love long distance is not for me

61  Tough love

Love her as much as you please
But don’t get down on your knees

Go to the park and hold her hand
And sit and drink and enjoy the breeze

And when she smiles like a flower
Kiss those lips and do not freeze

And when you find the right occasion
Hold her close and then squeeze

And if she’s ever cold and callous
You be firm and her not appease

And if she flirts with another man
Give her a spanking on your knees

Therefore, love her with all your heart
But don’t ever let it become a disease

62  I’m afraid it’s all a little too late

She says she’d like to see me again
And find it I very hard to explain

And she, who would not even look at me
With me now she says she’d like to be

And she, my offer who’d always decline
Me now she would like to wine and dine

And me, who always she wanted to hide
Now in her salon she’d like to preside

And now she wants to turn off the light
And sit and neck with me all night

So although all this sounds so great
I’m afraid it’s now a little too late

63  She also flirts with all my friends

She used to be angry but this is too much
She was cold towards me but this is too much

She now goes and lives with my terrible foe
With him she was friendly but this is too much

She also flirts with all my friends
She used to be free but this is too much

They all, it seems, are in love with her
She was always a beauty but this is too much

And even angels are crazy about her beauty
She was better than a houri but this is too much

So when people see me, they cry and cry
I know they’ve pity but this is too much

And about me now she always complains
She used to be unhappy but this is too much

64  I’m totally shattered; I’m falling apart

Look how she left and broke my heart
I’m totally shattered; I’m falling apart

Those nights dark have made me a loon
She took with her the stars and moon

I cry and cry all night till dawn
For sleep I cannot; my dreams are gone

And gone is the fire; what’s left is ash
And remains not even a spark or flash

Oh, how I miss her beautiful face
Her style and form, her poise and grace

It’s all so dark, I grope and grope
And it seems for me there is no hope

65  O my heart, my poor little heart

O my heart, my poor little heart
I wish that you were a little smart
And with a little sorrow and a little pain
You would not break and fall apart

I know you love these beautiful girls
With eyes blue and golden curls
And ruby lips and delicious mouths
And white teeth like precious pearls

O my heart, my poor little heart
I wish that you were a little smart
And with a little sorrow and a little pain
You would not break and fall apart

But these girls that you hold so dear
Are cruel, and callous, and insincere
And they may look very gentle and kind
But they’re surely not what they appear

O my heart, my poor little heart
I wish that you were a little smart
And with a little sorrow and a little pain
You would not break and fall apart

So tell me please what you want to do
And do not tell me you don’t have a clue
And do not say that it is your fate
To sigh and sob and be always blue

O my heart, my poor little heart
I wish that you were a little smart
And with a little sorrow and a little pain
You would not break and fall apart

66  They come back as flowers

They come back as flowers after they die
Or become they stars in the nightly sky

In showing everyone their charm and grace
These beautiful girls are never very shy

But show they never any sympathy
When the lovers without them cry and cry

And when these guys are about to die
They wouldn’t even come to say good-bye

They don’t understand a word they hear
No matter how much their lovers try

And when these fellows try to complain
Any wrongdoing these girls deny

And tell they SHAIDA that he’s getting old
And that chasing girls he can’t justify

67  O let me see you once in a while

O let me see you once in a while
And let me have that beautiful smile

I don’t say, do not see my foes
But please to them don’t be so close

Your flirting with them I do not mind
But why to me you’re so very unkind?

Estranged that you’re, let no one know
And try to maintain the status quo

And so that people do not suspect
Don’t me in public please neglect

I wish you’d come and with your face
Light up this dark and dingy place

And give a smile while looking at me
And see me in a total ecstasy

68  Reveal yourself, O Lord, to me

Reveal yourself, O Lord, to me
Your glorious face I’m dying to see

Behind the curtain that you like to hide
O let me see, and allow me inside

I want to go where Gabriel can’t
This wish of mine O please do grant

And come to me and look into my eyes
And me you enchant and mesmerize

I’m your lover, so don’t be shy
When so many others you do gratify

I know I do not deserve your grace
But I’m your lover; show me your face

69  My self-control I cannot trust

That faithless gal that I love so much
In beauty and grace no one can touch

Whenever I talk of her luscious lips
It gives me the taste of chocolate chips

O she’s the eyes of a playful doe
That keep the tigers and lions in tow

And when she swings her waist and hips
My poor little heart, it simply flips

And the way she wears and tilts her hat
She looks like a queen, that perfect brat

And when I see her gorgeous face
I lose my sense of time and space

And then I yield to a rush of lust
And my self-control I cannot trust

70  May I hold your hand, my dear?

May I hold your hand, my dear
And sit in the pretty moonlight?
O I’ll be gallant, so don’t you fear
That somehow it won’t be right

Don’t you know
I love you so?

May I play with your locks, my dear
And may I pull them slight?
O I’ll be careful, so don’t you fear
That rumple your hair I might

Don’t you know
I love you so?

May I kiss your lips, my dear
And may I kiss them right?
O I’ll be tender, so don’t you fear
That them I might bite

Don’t you know
I love you so?

May I hold you close, my dear
And may I hold you tight?
O I’ll be gentle, so don’t you fear
That be too rough I might

Don’t  you know
I love you so?

71  What a fool I was

What a fool I was; what a fool I was
I did not know; no, I did not know
What people had known since long ago
That love is not without the woe

I knew her only for a little while
But she had form and she had style
And she had beauty, charm, and grace
And she had also a lovely smile

What a fool I was; what a fool I was
I did not know; no, I did not know
That people had known since long ago
That love is not without the woe

But I should’ve known if I were smart
That she was a siren without a heart
And that one day when the time was right
She was going to leave and simply depart

What a fool I was; what a fool I was
I did not know; no, I did not know
But what does it matter if I didn’t know
For it wouldn’t have helped, I loved her so

72  O when you’re away

O when you’re away; O when you’re away
I think of you all night and day
But when you come, I cannot say
What I so badly want to convey
“I love you; I love you; I pray; I pray”

About my love I crow and crow
And to one and all who’d bother to know
My love for you I want to show
And boast and boast that I’m your beau
But how do I tell you – I love you so?

So give me courage and let me confide
In you my feelings that are deep inside
And this, I hope, will make you decide
To become one day my darling bride
My wealth, my treasure, my joy, my pride

73  But still, my love, you do need love

My lovely, lovely, beautiful belle
In charm and grace you simply excel
Wherever you look, you cast a spell
And everything you do, you do so well
But still, my love, you do need love

O you have beauty, charm and grace
A darling smile and a gorgeous face
And as a queen you beat the ace
And nothing about you is commonplace
But still, my love, you do need love

O you’re the moon of a moonlit night
For the stars in heaven a source of light
You are so cheerful; you are so bright
That wherever you go, you bring delight
But still, my love, you do need love

I’m old and poor, I know, I know
And I’m not fit to be your beau
But, darling baby, I love you so
So please, for God’s sake, don’t say no
And come to me, for you do need love

74  So, baby darling, some mercy show

O you’re my life; you’re my soul
My only purpose, my only goal
And depends on you my future whole
You’re all I have; you’re all I have
So please, my darling, don’t you go

O you’re my beginning; you’re my end
My broken heart only you can mend
This barren soul only you can tend
You’re all I have; you’re all I have
So, honey darling, do not say no

O you’re my summer; you’re my spring
And all those colors and flowers you bring
So when you come, I start to sing
“You’re all I have; you’re all I have
And sugary darling, I love you so”

So don’t be callous; don’t be cold
And don’t be so cruel to your lover old
I know you have a heart of gold
You’re all I have; you’re all I have
So, baby darling, some mercy show

75  That fateful night

That fateful night I cannot forget
When, flying together, we were in a jet
And I was having a glass of wine
And she was sitting and looking divine

Then suddenly when our eyes met
I felt a rush and started to sweat
And when she flashed that lovely smile
I quickly became a juvenile

And with myself I made a bet
That she’ll become my Juliet
So then I begged her to meet me again
After we got off the airplane

She said she’ll do it but never did
Which now has made me an invalid
I look and look but cannot find
That gal, so lovely and so unkind

76  And soon I knew it was no more

It was quite a night when I first met you
You were fresh and new like the morning dew
I looked at you and you looked at me
And we were in love, we quickly knew
Oh, it was so very impromptu

Soon I was sitting and holding your hand
While you were smiling and looking so grand
And then when I looked into your eyes
I felt I was entering the never, never land
And time around me began to expand

Then all of a sudden I was kissing your lip
And drinking its nectar only sip by sip
But when I tasted your juicy tongue
I felt I was taking a heavenly trip
And on this world I was losing my grip

Your bosom soft then I began to explore
And felt my spirit was starting to soar
But I woke up then from my dream
After I heard a deafening roar
And soon I knew it was no more

77  You love me not

O whether it’s right or whether it’s wrong
For you I pine, and yearn, and long
And wait for you I all night long
Knowing that to me you do not belong
And knowing for sure that you’ll not come

O you are my purpose; you are my goal
And on what I do I don’t have control
And though on me it has taken its toll
I love you with all my heart and soul
Knowing for sure that you love me not

I know, I know you will not come
I know, I know you love me not

78  O wait till you see the vision of God

O wait till you see the vision of God
You’ll see a lightening, and you’ll be awed

For like His beauty, there surely is none
And the light He gives, can give no one

You think you’ve choice and a free will
But when you love, your choice is nil

And you will not feel the slightest hurt
Even when your darling treats you as dirt

And you at all will not be sore
When you your girl tries to ignore

And you won’t have to go to the bar
To show the maids your every scar

So listen to me, you’ll become an ace
When one day you’ll find the Divine grace

79  Be nice and give your lover a break

Oh, all this pain and all this ache
This constant sorrow without a break
There’s only so much a man can take
So please, my love, for Heaven’s sake
Be nice and give your lover a break

They all say love is a wonderful thing
And it can make you feel like a king
But for me it’s only a painful sting
So please, my love, for Heaven’s sake
Be nice and give your lover a break

O you’re my life; you’re my soul
For you I sing, and trill, and troll
But I’m also now in a great big hole
So please, my love, for Heaven’s sake
Be nice and give your lover a break

O please, O please be kind to me
I need your pity, your charity
And if you can, some sympathy
So please, my love, for Heaven’s sake
Be nice and give your lover a break

80  Come kiss me once and kiss me twice

O do be good; O do be nice
And kiss me once and kiss me twice
Just listen O please to my advice
For one day surely you’ll lose your prime
You know it’s only a matter of time

Yes, I’m frail and yes, I’m old
And yes, I’m shy and not very bold
And I’m not worth my weight in gold
But soon I will be not worth a dime
You know it’s only a matter of time

So come, my darling, do come to me
And please for once do grant my plea
For soon for kissing there will be
No good reason and no good rhyme
You know it’s only a matter of time

81  O it was nice my knowing you, dear

O it was nice my knowing you, dear
And it was really and truly nice
But there remained no fun, no cheer
In what we called our paradise

O it was a lovely moonlit night
And you were happy and I was tight
And when I begged you to marry me
You winked at me and said you might

And when you became my bashful bride
We took a ride to the Canadian side
And toasted near the Niagara Falls
And become you did my joy and pride

And then we set up a little nest
With a place to enjoy and a place to rest
And there we lived in bliss and peace
For we were in love and we were blessed

Then something happened, I don’t know what
And in a spiral we both got caught
And agree we could not on anything
And so we fought, and fought, and fought

So it was nice my knowing you, dear
And it was really and truly nice
But there remained no fun, no cheer
In what we called our paradise

82  Your beauty, love, will last forever

You know we love your gorgeous face
Your dazzling beauty, you charm, and grace
And no one for us can take your place
But when we see you feeling sad
We, lovers of yours, all feel so bad

You fear your bloom will fade away
And your charm and beauty is going to fray
And one day you will be old and gray
But, believe me, on you we’ll still be hung
And our love for you will always be young

So do not worry about getting old
And your beauty becoming stale and cold
Or you losing on lovers your present hold
For on us you’ll always have control
Love you we’ll with our heart and soul

Your beauty, love, will last forever
And your bloom will fade never, never, never

83  But still I say it’s most unfair

O since I’ve fallen in love with you
I sob, and sigh, and do boohoo
And now that I cannot without you do
I don’t know what I’ve gotten into
But it’s not fair; O it’s not fair
That you have fun and I despair

I know it now, it wasn’t smart
To make someone my sweetheart
Like you, who knows the deadly art
Of wounding and breaking a loving heart
But I also know it’s most unfair
That you have fun and I despair

But now, I’m sure, it is too late
To change this sorry, sorry state
For now that I have taken the bait
I can do nothing but bow to fate
But still I say it’s most unfair
That you have fun and I despair

84  Your mate and lover O let me be

My sorry plight O come and see
And see my ache, my agony
See how I need your charity
Your love, your pity, your sympathy
I pray and pray, do please agree
Your mate and lover O let me be

My loving heart I cannot show
But, darling, still I want you to know
I love you, I love you, I love you so
So please, my baby, do not say no
I pray and pray, do please agree
Your mate and lover O let me be

So please, my love, my sweetie pie
Don’t let this lover forever cry
To him this pleasure O do not deny
For otherwise he is going to die
I pray and pray, do please agree
Your mate and lover O let him be

85  I love you, I love you, I do, I do

O when I tell you that I love you
I’m not telling you anything new
For they all say it whenever they woo
But in my case it’s totally true
And I know you’ve lovers quite a few
But no one can love you the way I do

You can go and search the humankind
But a lover like me you’ll never find
I’m totally unique, and one of a kind
Because my love is completely blind
I know you’ve lovers quite a few
But no one can love you the way I do

I know for you it’s nothing new
But I love you, I love you, I do, I do

86  O what do I do; O what do I do?

Ever since, baby, you’ve gone away
I think of you all night and day
My life is in total disarray
I’m lost and cannot find my way
O what do I do; O what do I do
I feel so lonely; I feel so blue?

Wherever I go, I look for you
And look and look, yet find no clue
And though, it’s true, I do overdo
I can never say that I’m through
O what do I do; O what do I do
I feel so lonely; I feel so blue?

So tell me please what do I do?
O tell me, O tell me what do I do?

87  In love, we all know, everything is fair

This love for sure is a sad affair
And the pain and sorrow that I have to bear
Are nothing short of a nightmare
But sadly of this you are not aware
For what does it matter; what do you care?

And whether I live or whether I die
Or whether I laugh or whether I sigh
Or whether my eye is wet or dry
To ignore it all your best you try
For what does it matter; what do you care?

And when to you I beg and pray
That a little kindness you please display
You simply look the other way
You can’t be bothered, you only say
For what does it matter; what do you care?

But why should you bother; why should you care
In love, when we all know, everything is fair?

88  So go and love with your heart and soul

O love is truly a Divine award
In it you’ll find a great reward

A heart that feels someone else’s pain
An eternal bliss it’s bound to attain

This worldly beauty is just a facade
For behind it all is the beauty of God

So a man who loves a beautiful dame
Him for it O how could you blame?

And if he loves a gal who is a flirt
His pain and sorrow don’t try to avert

And if he loves a gal who’s headstrong
Don’t ever tell him that he is wrong

So go and love with your heart and soul
And try to make it your life’s goal

89  I miss you, I miss you, I miss you a lot

O when I’m out on a midsummer night
And the moon is shining and the stars are bright
Making the sky an enchanting sight
If then with me I find you not
I miss you, I miss you, I miss you a lot

And whenever I wake up in my bed
With a burning heart and an aching head
And feeling exhausted or almost dead
If then with me I find you not
I miss you, I miss you, I miss you a lot

So whether I’m happy or whether I’m sad
Or I’m feeling good or I’m feeling bad
Or I’m very pleased or I’m very mad
If, baby, with me I find you not
I miss you, I miss you, I miss you a lot

90  No, I will never get tired of you

One day you might not care for me
And eye to eye you might not see
And start with me to disagree
But whatever you say, I’ll always do
And no, I’ll never get tired of you

You might one day think I’m old
And that on reality I’ve lost my hold
And so might decide to be callous and cold
But for you my love will always be new
And no, I’ll never get tired of you

Or you might like to say adieu
Or might think parting is overdue
But no matter what you might say or do
You I’ll always, always pursue
And no, I’ll never get tired of you

No, I will never get tired of you
No matter what you might say or do

91  People in love don’t say good-bye

O just for a moment do please come near
And put on my chest that darling ear
And my weeping heart do try to hear
And then you try to figure out why
It hates to hear you say good-bye

My poor little heart was always meek
With outlook gloomy and future bleak
But now it’s become so frail and weak
That in your presence it cannot speak
So if you left, it’ll surely die
And will not survive your saying good-bye

So please, my darling, do try to be kind
And try to keep this also in mind
That a heart like mine is difficult to find
Because its love is totally blind
So if you can, don’t let it cry
And for God’s sake do not say good-bye

For until such time they’re ready to die
People in love don’t say good-bye

92  I’m your lover, a full time lover

I think of you; I dream of you
All day long and all night long
For you, my love, I croon and coo
And only for you I sing my song
I belong to you from cover to cover
And I’m your lover, a full time lover

You are my life; you are my soul
I live for you and I die for you
Of me you are in full control
And it’s for you what I say or do
I belong to you from cover to cover
And I’m your lover, a full time lover

But though I completely belong to you
You do not seem to care for me
And while I cry and do boohoo
You seem to enjoy my agony
But still I’m yours from cover to cover
And I’m your lover, a full time lover

Yes, I’m your lover, a full time lover
And I don’t mind being called a sucker

93  I love you, I love you, I love you so

O please, my darling, do not go
Stay for a while and don’t say no
My heart to you I cannot show
But still, my love, I want you to know
I love you, I love you, I love you so

I still remember when you were mine
My life was full of your sunshine
We’d sit and neck and drink some wine
And to lovely places we’d go and dine
But now I can only yearn and pine
And miss and miss my goddess divine

I know I can drive anyone insane
And put one under a lot of strain
But, baby, you ought to see my pain
And how it causes this emotional drain
But now I promise I’ll never complain
So let us start the whole thing again

So please, my darling, do not go
Stay for a while and don’t say no
My heart to you I cannot show
But still, my love, I want you to know
I love you, I love you, I love you so

94  I’m not going to fall in love again

O do not give me this lovely smile
And an older man don’t try to beguile
I’m not going to act like a juvenile
I have just recovered from my nagging pain
So I’m not going to fall in love again

And don’t show me these beautiful eyes
The eyes that can easily mesmerize
I have just been through this exercise
And have just recovered from my nagging pain
So I’m not going to fall in love again

Look I’m not by nature unduly strong
So when I’m tempted, I do go along
And things with me can quickly go wrong
I have just recovered from my nagging pain
So I’m not going to fall in love again

And please, for God’s sake, don’t telephone
Just leave me alone; just leave me alone

95  No one can love you as much as I

I know you’ve come to say good-bye
And I’m not going to ask you to tell me why?
But one day, I’m sure, you’re going to say
That once you rejected the nicest guy
Because, my darling, my sweetie pie
No one can love you as much as I

I know you love a handsome lad
Who’s always so dandy and richly clad
But one day he’ll go for another gal
After his fill with you he has had
And realize you will, my sweetie pie
That no one ever loved you as much as I

And when one day you’re old and gray
And your charm and beauty have gone away
No one will give you a second look
And you’re going to feel great dismay
And then to me you’ll again be drawn
But probably by then I’ll be dead and gone

So it’s good to remember, my sweetie pie
That no one can love you as much as I

96  Until you hear the rooster crow

The moon is here; it has not yet gone
The night is young and the music is on
And the people are dancing all over the lawn
And plan to be dancing until it’s dawn
So please, my darling, do not go
Until you hear the rooster crow

And let’s avail this wonderful chance
To eat, and drink, and sing, and dance
We surely don’t have to go to France
To enjoy a night of high romance
So please, my darling, do not go
Until you hear the rooster crow

So let’s enjoy ourselves tonight
And let’s not wait until tomorrow night
Our bonds of love, let’s knit them tight
And take our love to its heavenly height
So please, my darling, do not go
Until you hear the rooster crow

And don’t even think of saying no
Because I love you, I love you so

97  Someone like her you cannot find

O she has poise, charm and grace
A beautiful body and a gorgeous face
So a girl like her you want to chase
And her, after catching, you want to embrace
But she is a gal who’s one of a kind
And someone like her you cannot find

She’s also nice, and soft, and gentle
And in her manners very continental
And there’s also something very fundamental
Which makes her loving and sentimental
But she is a gal who’s one of a kind
And someone like her you cannot find

But even if you can find a girl like her
She won’t probably have you as her only lover

98  And we’ll both live in eternal bliss

O now that, dear, we’ve been together
In fair as well as the rainy weather
And you’ve accepted me as your lover
And there’s nothing left for you to discover
I hope with me you’ll finally concur
That our holy union we should not defer

You know I love you with all my soul
And on my heart you’ve full control
For you I sing, and trill, and troll
And my heart for you does rock and roll
And I have made you my life’s goal

So let’s then say, “I do”, “I do”
And let’s become the blessed two
And live in a world completely new
Where you are me and I am you
And bound we are by the divine glue

I promise your freedom you’ll never miss
And we’ll both live in eternal bliss

99  O please, I beg you, leave me not

O believe me, believe me, I am sincere
A lie I will never speak nor hear
I love you so much, I simply fear
That I cannot survive without you, dear
O baby, you are all what I have got
So please, I beg you, leave me not

O when I met you years ago
You were a beautiful little doe
I thought some interest if I would show
And said to you that I love you so
You’ll agree with me and won’t say no
And on me your favors you’ll bestow

But, baby darling, I did not know
That my love for you will grow and grow
And that one day it will overflow
And for you my everything I’ll forgo

So now I’m so much in love with you
That I do not have the slightest clue
What on God’s earth I’m going to do
If one day you said to me adieu

So believe me, believe me, I am sincere
A lie I will never speak nor hear
I love you so much, I simply fear
That I cannot survive without you, dear
O baby, you’re all what I have got
So please, I beg you, leave me not

100  The all-encompassing nothingness

One night when I was in my bed
An angel came to me and said
That he had come to take me away
Because he had heard that I was dead

At first I thought it was only a dream
That things are not what they often seem
But soon I knew that he was right
Because I had tried and could not scream

Then the angel told me not to cry
And that we both were going to fly
Far, far away from the Universe
Away from stars and beyond the sky

We flew and flew until we came
To a place which had no real name
And when I asked if it was hell or heaven
He said things there were all the same

And then he told me not to guess
For this was the essence, more or less
Of what was real and what was not
This all-encompassing nothingness

And then I woke up with a loud scream
From what you might call my mystical dream
