While I can't imagine what you must be going through on the restaurant level, I can relate to the employee juggle. I too have been surrounded by books in the process of reorganizing and clearing out. So many books, so little time. I dropped the ball this weekend also, trying to get back on this bike and finish the tour though. Loved your post.

I agree with you; the news can be so depressing these days. It seems like every time I watch the news or read the paper there are more than one story like this one being covered. What has our society come to? I guess all we can do is hope that someday things will change for the better . . .

Yes, I think you're right. Once you're affected by a murder, you would see it entirely differently.
