Age: 17 Appearance: She stands about 5’6” and a womanly figure she covers in formless, light colored clothing. She has layered dark auburn hair, cat-like cobalt blue eyes, and mocha and cream colored skin. Her facial features are a hodgepodge of different heritages but she is intriguing to glance at even though she doesn’t like much attention. Personality: To say that Odessa is a nice person is an understatement. Soft-spoken with a bright and generous smile, she has a kind word for everyone. She is always available when someone needs someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on. Her mostly positive view of the world, even after fighting demons for several years, shines a light on her occasional naïve trust in the people closest to her. She NEEDS to see the good in people for it is her way to combat the evil that now dwells inside her. Demonic Entity: Wrath History: The only child to a well off family, Odessa has never had to worry about food or shelter. This has not stopped her from feeling compassion for those less fortunate and she goes out of her way to give back. Since she was a small child Odessa has had to deal with her extreme shyness which made it hard for her to find friends until she found the group. Now she is personable although still somewhat reserved. When she’s not fighting demons or attending school Odessa can be found at the library where she works as a librarian’s assistant or spending time with her wonderful boyfriend, Morgan. Odessa hopes to attend university after high school to one day become a profiler for the government. Age: 18 Appearance: Standing around 5'11 to 6 foot, Morgan has soul piercing grey eyes, shoulder length deep red hair. He's been told he looks hot, but to him he just looks like himself. He likes to wear things that make him feel comfortable and that's only blue jeans and a t-shirt. He wears black hikers boots, and always carries his spartan book bag with him that is also black. Last, but certainly not least he wears a black leather trench coat that cuts off just above the knee, this he only wears when Demon hunting. Personality: Morgan is your basic good guy, but has a bad boy mentality. He likes to do his own thing, but has a heart of gold. He's always there for his friends when he can be. The fact that many girls want him doesn't go to his head, he has eyes for one girl only. Demon Entity: Lust History: Growing up was hard on Morgan, because his father left him and his mother to fend for themselves which meant that a lot of times he went without food, water, and electricity. When he was in his Junior year in highschool he found himself to be around a great group of friends. In that group he met his girlfriend Odessa. Odessa having found out about his home situation got her dad to give Morgan a high paying job to help with everything. At their high school graduation Morgan plans to ask Odessa to marry him. Age: 17 Appearance: Jabez is short (5’7) and swarthy, but built like a brick wall, literally a mass of pure muscle and being so he’s rather intimidating at first glance. He has messy black hair just long enough he can pull most of it back in a little ponytail. His eyes are jade green and convey his every emotion even when he’s trying to hide it. Usually he wears scuffed up jeans with a belt, a t-shirt with some cool picture (like a dragon or an anime guitar) on the front and he also has a cap that he always wears backwards. Personality: If Jabez had to be described with one word it would be passionate because he feels things so profoundly, love, anger, fear, joy. It rocks through him so powerfully it’s almost exhausting. So to say the least he can be a little extreme. Unsurprisingly he’s known to get in a lot of fights, sadly usually over something dumb, but he doesn’t care. On the top-side, he’s very straight forward and will never beat around the bush. This also makes him a fierce friend, willing to do a lot for those he cares about. Demonic Entity: Pain History: A blue-collar boy, Jabez has worked with his dad in his construction home business since he was twelve, which made him the brawny kid he is now. However his passion is auto-mechanics. He currently owns a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS that he fixed up himself and loves more than life itself. He doesn’t care for academics; after he graduates he wants to start his own auto shop. He’s from a family of Catholics, but he had never really bought the God-thing. Now being bound with an evil demon, he’s close to reconsidering, though. Age: 17 Appearance: Hera is tall, with medium length reddish hair. She has golden colored eyes and a slightly pointed nose. She loves to wear jewelry and doesn't have a preference in clothing- she just wears whatever is handy and comfortable. Personality: Hera is wacky. She's always laughing and making everyone else laugh too, she's weird and proud of it, and makes a point to show it. She has good friends that she likes to hang around with, and she can be serious when needed. Demonic entity: Envy History: Hera has moved all over the place. Her mother is a nature photographer, and works with National Geographic. Her father, however, runs a Bed and Breakfast with his parents and won't leave them. So, her parents split and Gisele goes wherever her mother goes. Age: 18 Appearance: Bright blonde hair with natural highlights often kept in soft curls just past her shoulders. Often wears a flower hair pin on the side of her head. Her eyes a are bit strange though. The right eye looks green and the left looks two shades closer to blue. But sometimes it matches the right eye perfectly. She stands at an average height and is very beautiful and shapely. Personality: Very kind hearted to everyone. And is the first to offer to do favors for anyone in need. Not many don't trust her and with good reason- she's just too kind hearted. But she knows how to take care of business and if there's something in life she wants, she knows how to get it. She's a hard worker and a great friend (as great as she can be). She does her best to remain positive. Demonic Entity: Greed History: Erynn lives in the local trailor park. Though her family is of the working class, her parents love one another and her and work hard to provide for her and her three younger brothers. Life at home is very calm and loving. Erynn gets her strength of heart and mind from her mother, whome she looks up to. Erynn did her best after becoming possessed to keep her friends and family proud of her as a way of atonement. She's an all A student, with a good reputation, and many trust her. She often works in the animal shelter and keeps busy by doing as many good deeds as she can. Still, she tends to keep people a certain distance away. She's got a crush on a guy she's known her whole life. And even though he knows what she's going through with the demon, she'd never tell him how much she cared. He'd only get hurt, just like everyone else she's had to take from. Age: 18 Appearance: Dark violet hair that gleams a blood-red like color in bright sunlight. Has piercing soul wretching grey eyes that run on his late mother's side of the family. A lean build from his studies in many martial arts that he learned from books. Has a tattoo on his back that is the kanji for Shinji which means "truth or error". It is red and in the middle of his back but somewhat small. Personality: He has an extremely calm calculationg demeanor when serious and when he's explaining anything important. Though he can be easily sidetracked sometimes and is quite shy despite his sharp wit. Despises deciet and lies in their entirety. Pride's himself in being able to see through most forms of trickery. Demonic Entity: Corruption History: His home life can be summed up for the most part in one word. Bored. That's why he ended up liking school, that's why he became somewhat of a bookworm, that's also why he ended up working a bit at an animal shelter on the side, meeting Erynn. He tries to get closer to her every once and a while, but she seems to want to keep him away. Of all people he wouldn't tell about the demonic entity sealed inside him, it would be her. He's a not-so-close relative of Morgan, but the two get along well enough. His dad works almost non-stop now since his mother died. He tries constantly to keep the demon inside him at bay, and his struggle gets harder since he rarely lets himself give in to the urges of the demon. Anger crackled through her like the very air she breathed. Everyday, every moment she felt it build up inside until it was bursting to be let loose. Hunting down the filthy demons that plagued her hometown was a way to release some steam, but it wasn't enough. The cursed thing dwelling inside demanded human blood and pain. Killing one of its brethren didn't satisfy the cravings. She was lucky to run into one of their minions on the way over. "Odessa, look out!" She turned just in time to catch a hand tightly gripping her forearm, forcing her around as the demon's talons sunk into her skin. The sharp pain made her cry out in fury. Using her unrestrained arm, Odessa jammed her elbow into the demon's throat twice before wrapping her arm around its neck and slamming it into her knee, crushing its face. Time seemed to stretch into day as she and the rest of the crew fought off the wave of demons. Some regenerated and came back with a vengeance. But most found the good fortune just to lay down and die. Good riddance, Odessa thought as a wave of three came running up to attack. Executing a butterfly kick she forced the group of demons into each other, mortally wounding themselves with the spikes that were protruding from their bodies as they collapsed to the dirt. Trying to catch her breath, Odessa’s eyes automatically sought out Morgan as silence settled upon the graveyard. He stood tall and imposing, ripping his weapon of choice out of the chest of one of the fallen. As if sensing her gaze, his piercing gray eyes turned to her, assessing the damage the fight had caused. She knew immediately he could see the deep wound to her shoulder as he began marching to her side only stopping when she shook her head to tell him she was fine. He wasn't content with her answer, Odessa could tell by the flat line of his mouth, but he kept quiet waiting until later to argue with her. Their fights were always the same. He thought she pushed herself too far while she didn't think he took good enough care of himself. They'd bicker and fight, but in the end it always ended with her held safely in his arms. It was their way of letting off frustration and tonight would not be any different. The only thing that mattered was their love for each other was rock solid. She gazed around the cemetery, checking the rest of the crew as they finished the job, remembering how they had first come to know this way of life. That Halloween night would forever burn inside her memory. It had been a simple test of wills and a night of harmless fun. Everyone had dressed up in ridiculous costumes and sat around the cemetery munching on candy while telling scary stories. It was a horde of demons much like the ones they fought that evening that had changed their lives. No one can walk away from that unscathed. They became hunters, good ones, not really knowing they’d become the hunted as well. Hera blew a strand of red hair out of her eyes. “Wow, that was fun.” Her deadpan expression made everyone chuckle. “Who‘s turn is it for clean up duty?” Jabez asked. The bloody gashes on his arms and neck looked nasty, but the sated look on his face told a different story. “There were over five a piece for each of us.” Genri’s serious tone brooked no refusal. “There’s no way in hell that I’m cleaning this up.” “I think its Odessa turn.” Erynn turned to her with an apologetic smile. Odessa went cold at what needed to happen next. Unlike in the movies, most demons didn’t disintegrate or turn into a pile of goo. Each scaly body had to be dealt with manually in order for the remains to disappear. Holy water was their cleaning solvent of choice, but Odessa hadn’t touched the stuff in over six months. It didn’t feel right to handle the sacred while something hideous took residence inside her body. Odessa felt herself hesitate for a job she would have offered to do voluntarily months ago. A large hand settled on the small of her back. “I’ll take clean up tonight and Odessa will pay for breakfast,” Morgan replied. Everyone agreed heartily and immediately began to argue about where to go to eat. “Morgan,” Odessa whispered so none of the other group could hear. “I can-” “Hush.” He caressed her cheek with the back of his hand, letting his calming presence soothe her frazzled nerves. “Let me take care of this and I’ll let you take care of me later.” Morgan kissed her gently on the lips. She gave him a half smile. “Alright, love.” “Who’s up for pancakes?” And as the first rays of twilight peeked over the horizon Odessa felt the creature inside her being concede the fight for another day. remnants of demon off his leather coat. He took a few minutes to calm himself down before joining up with the others inside as his blood was still racing from fight before. A good brawl was like a straight shot of alcohol to his veins - it always spiked the heart and sent his blood racing. He felt fearless after a fight. Fearless and hungry. These moments alone helped him get under control. The sun shining off the diner window’s reflection sparked the fierce look in his grey eyes as he stepped inside. Odessa called them warrior’s eyes for they were always scanning and searching for a threat. She had no way of knowing that it wasn’t predators he was looking out for but prey. He would always be on the alert for women, or in other words his next conquest, not because he wanted to mind you but because he had to. It was his price for having the demon within. Having the sin Lust was not an easy thing. One might think that it would be a piece of cake, but what if you had someone that you loved more then anything in the world and had to constantly lie to that person. It eats you up inside, and it does not get easier. His grey eyes landed upon the love of his life Odessa then to the waitress that was taking the order of the others, quickly he sized her up, and noticed the way she would stick her butt out then the way the black pants she had on would hug her hips. Instantly flashes of what the demon wanted went through his mind. It took all of his will to tear himself away from the thoughts. "Hey guys, I hope I don't have to do that again for a while." Morgan sat down next to Odessa draping an arm casually over her shoulder in which drew her attention to him. She turned to look at him sensing something, but he told her nothing, then leaned toward her placing his lips on hers which sent an electrical charge throughout his body not sating the sin only enraging it further. "It was my turn, and I love you for taking it for me." Odessa said, letting the words flow easy from her beautifully shaped mouth, her lips had a natural pink tone to them that made it looks as if she wore pink lipstick, something of which Morgan loved about her lips. He could kiss them all day and not get tired. "It's okay love, you know I would do anything for you baby." Morgan replied truthfully. "Well, how about we let the lovey dovey stuff alone for awhile." Jabez commented. "I'm hungry and not in the mood to lose my appetite this early." He chided. That caused Hera to laugh and hiccup. While Genri and Erynn shook their heads going back into the private conversation they were having. The waitress nodded, jotting down his order hurriedly. She then turned to Hera next to him who ordered a meal that would’ve made King Kong proud. Seriously, he didn’t know where she put it all. As the others ordered, he sighed and leaned back in his chair, happily taking a moment to close his eyes and gather himself. His body ached, cuts and bruises covering him. None were so bad that they required instant attention, but still the demon inside hummed gleefully. It wanted more, a lot more, and before it grew angry, Jabez promised he would deliver. Soon, he decided for he could feel its evil grip on him strengthening. If he didn’t satisfy it soon, it would take over and that was worse than any amount of pain. “You okay?” it was Erynn’s voice, of course. Possibly the sweetest girl he had ever met, Jabez adored the heck out of her. Opening his eyes, he gave a slow, sleepy smile and nodded. Satisfied that he was indeed fine, the girl turned her eyes back to Genri. “Gosh. I’m tired,” murmured Hera, causing him to chuckle. “And school starts in a couple hours.” Odessa gave a subdued sigh. “Should have listened to our mothers when they said not to go demon hunting on a school night,” joked Jabez, lifting his arms above his head as he stretched. “Will we ever learn?” The others laughed, and finally he could feel the tension of the battle start to leak away. Now they were themselves – not mighty demon slayers – teenagers with normal problems, that was until their next confrontation with the demon hordes, but they would the regularity while they could. “Anyone want my toast?” offered Odessa when all the meals were serve. Instantly Jabez hand was up, along with Genri’s. They scowled at each other, though both were all too happy to have a chance to try to out beat each other. While he and Morgan got along like two best friends, Jabez and Genri seemed like two brothers always competing. “Oh, um, there’s two pieces…You can split…” Jabez held his hand up. “No, this must be settled the proper way.” Morgan rolled his eyes while Hera laughed and Erynn seemed to watch with concern. Odessa was just amused. “Arm wrestle?” Genri grinned one of his rare cocky grins. Nodding, Jabez answered, “Just don’t whine when I beat you.” The boy gave one of those snorts that said, yeah right; in what third dimension could you ever beat me? They clasped hands, settling their elbows on the hard diner table. “Someone say go.” “You guys are so…” “Go!” Jabez felt like his arm was about to spilt in two, so understandably he was in pain, but he kept his face cracked in an arrogant grin that he knew Genri hated. Their fists quivered in the air, revealing little of just how much pressure was trapped between their palms. “Go, Genri!” Hera cheered and Jabez frowned. “Why are you rooting for him?” he wondered between clamped teeth. “What? Think I should root for you?” “This is stupid,” said Odessa. “I have two pieces of dumb toast. Why don’t each of you just take one.” “You’re asking them to act like intelligent human beings, Odessa,” said Morgan, shaking his head. “It’s beyond their capacity.” Unfortunately, Genri and Jabez were almost perfectly matched when it came to physical strength, so it was taking rather long to end this childish confrontation. That was when Genri, being the clever kid that he was, recruited Hera to fight for his cause. They exchanged a quick look that Jabez was too distracted to notice, and the girl scooted closer to the boy, popping her knuckles with a wicked grin. It has been known fact for the last years, much to Genri’s joy, that Jabez was unbearably ticklish. On and off, his friends had used this failing against him to better him in certain endeavors. He hated it. Arching her fingers in the shape of a claw, Hera attacked. With a loud yelp, Jabez jumped, falling off his seat and breaking the hold on Genri’s hand. With a triumphant chuckled, the boy pronounced himself the winner and took the toast from Odessa. “That’s cheating,” Jabez protested, frowning deeply as he picked himself up and rubbed his side. “That’s using the resources that have been provided,” countered Genri, taking a bite of his toast and slapping hands with Hera, who beamed, obviously proud of herself. Turning a cold shoulder on them, he picked up his plate of food and retreated to another booth. “Awe, c’mon, Jay,” Hera moaned. “You don’t have to eat by yourself.” “I don’t eat with traitors!” he answered with a grin. (Srry 4 short add- on time limit) Genri took a big bite into his toast, stopping when she spoke. “You want me to give it to him?” He asked. Erynn lowered her head. She was exhausted. And with a new day she'd have new battles to face. She didn't know how much longer she could keep all this up. “No... that's okay.” She said as she scooted out of the booth. “I'm gonna go home and change.” She said as she looked down at her muddy jeans and long sleeved shirt. “I can give you a ride.” Genri piped in, throwing down his toast and sliding out of his seat. Erynn looked back at him. “You sure?” She asked. “You don't have to give me a ride. I can walk. I'm used to it.” She grinned. She hadn't been able to save up for a car just yet and her parents were strapped for cash so she'd had to start walking everywhere she wanted to go. He smiled. “How many times are you going to ask me that Erynn. You are on my way.” “Well... okay. Thanks Genri.” Morgan and Odessa looked up at them. “You guys leaving.” Morgan asked. Erynn nodded. “Yea, I'm beat. I wanna catch a few winks before school after I get cleaned up.” “I need to get home before people start to wake up anyway.” Odessa smiled. “See you in first hour.” She said as she stood up. Erynn leaned over and gave her a hug. It was something she was famous for. “Yea, see ya later.” She leaned over and hugged Morgan. “Bye.” Erynn ran over to Jabez and Hera giving them a goodbye hug too. “See ya!” She smiled before she and Genri left. ... “So are you stopping by the shelter later on?” Genri asked. He always tried so hard to get a good conversation going with Erynn. She on the other hand tried to say as little as possible to him because she liked him too much to let the demon inside make her hurt him. She'd done plenty of rotten things to people she cared about but she would not do it to Genri. “Yea. We've already got all the volunteers we need tonight so you wont need to come in.” “Oh...” A few minutes of silence went by. “So... what are you doing after that?” He asked. “Probably just go home and do homework.” That was a lie. She'd walk to the mall and satisfy the demon. “Cool.” Genri pulled up into Erynn's driveway. He looked like he was about to say something... or ask something. Erynn hopped out of the car and slammed the door. Genri rolled the window down, letting her lean in, giving him a warm smile. “Thanks Genri. I'll see you third period.” She said before running up to the front door. She pretended not to hear him ask her to save him a seat beside her. There was only one person she never hugged goodbye... and that was Genri. "Genri..." it whispered echoing toward him slowly. He continued to approach. The light scent of some jasmine shampoo and a familiar slight frangrance approached along with a soft giggle. It was Erynn's voice that haunted him. Genri reached through the darkness, "Erynn..." he whispered back. She answered with another giggle reaching into his outstretched hand and her face came through the black. Genri's other hand went ot her cheek. The shadow it cast on her face grew to cover it. Her eyes turned red and she smiled at him. Her teeth shined with blood, "Erynn?" Genri called again. A growl came from her throat. Genri pulled his hand from her leaving a trail of shadows. He'd done this to her, "No..." Suddenly a collossal sound tore through his sleep. He awoke still in the car with a his head coming off of the steering wheel. It was the horn, "Genri?" He heard Erynn call. He turned in her direction, "Oh, yeah?" "What are you doing?" "Were you going somewhere?" he asked nervously seeing she was dressed differently, "Um..." "I can give you a ride." "Uh...o-okay. You gonna tell me what you were doing?" "Oh...um...it's a long story. I'll tell you on the way!" Genri lied with a charming smile. © Copyright 2008 LdyPhoenix, Lonewolf, WhiteFire, FarynKatz: NaNoWriMo crazed!, Stilavon-BackFromTheAshes, Zephyr Shenkiken, (known as GROUP). All rights reserved.
