| [Introduction]
Heros of Hiro! The story that started it all now starts its third episode! The Past's Shadow. In the last episode, our heros and their new friends arrived in Gardenia to live a better life. But it all changed when the Dark King Kraman, Tiamat, El Toro and the Red Nation Imperialist army began to march on attacking the Blue nation and many more! A corrupt Blue Imperial King fears of his place on the throne and spreads intimidation everywhere. But what else does Kraman have up his sleeve? Find out here! |
Ardalina felt a bit nervous around him, Jiro was unsure of him and Kar was particularly distrusting him. "We can camp somewhere near the chapel on the side of the road. They have no beds but it will provide some service for us." said Jiro. But that gave the Lizard Wizard a hold on Kovu that Kovu resented. Kovu hated himself for not being eternally grateful to the Lizard Wizard, but he just didn't trust the wizard or any wizard for that matter. He came from a line of practical folk who looked at magic as something for soft weak people. Kovu's father always said: "Real men don't cast spells, real men swing big swords." "We can't keep up like this. We need to hit someplace sooner or later." said Kar. "Where to? We can't use the chapple. They have no beds." responded Jiro. Everyone had to put on their coatings to keep away the cold from their bodies as they sleep. It was a bit uncomfertable but they had to make due with what they can. Ardalina walked over and sat next to Kovu who was alone on the other side. "Its ok Kovu. They'll learn to trust you." she said. "What about you?" Shina and Moy who were sitting at the side at where they was looked over smiling only a bit. "Its not our place to decide what you want. We decide what we want. If we want to trust you than we trust you." said Shina. "I wonder if anyone is there." Kovu wonderered aloud The buried inn was just the ruins of an inn, but there was a bit of the roof left and some of the walls. "We can use this for shelter," Kovu said. "It isn't much but it's a whole lot better than sleeping out in the open. The fireplace looks okay." They spent some time cleaning out the space and laying boards across the holes in the roof. Soon they were reasonably comfortable drinking hot tea and watching a fire crackle in the fireplace. "Winter," Kar said. "My favorite time of year." His twisted mouth communicated sarcasm. "Well... Too bad it ain't this year since the Red Nation are beggining their invasion. I just hope we reach a settelment soon." Moy said. Kar nodded and drank his tea moving around in his seat. "Why do we have to have Kovu along?" he said glancing over him and Ardalina leaning on each other sleeping. "The human mercenary has helped us a lot in the past few days. He confessed to what he was and reasons, just be glad that he's on out side." "Yeah yeah..." Kar soon fell fast asleep after his last sip leaving Moy the only one awake. He looked over at his old mark on the day he was captured by spiders and glanced over at Jiro, Memly and the others. Eternly grateful for his friends. Meanwhile, Tiamat waited around the side of the road waiting for El Toro to show up. The invasion wouldn't start without neither of them. El Toro finally approached panting a bit. "What took you Ox boy?" she said. "Trying to capture Memly." he responded. "And?" "And a Meteor fell on me." "Well ain't that a coincidence. You must have let your guard for a magician to get you. Forget about Memly, we got a war to win for the glory of our nation!" "Ok Tiamat. Im ready to leave." he said. The 5 headed dragoness nodded and turned but before walking off she held up her hand. "I'll send a few minions to help your last mission, and say that YOU captured Memly once I returned to the Dark King." she said. The Ox's Heart almost skipped a heavy beat hearing her words. It almost made him blush. El Toro always thought that Tiamat was cold and arrogant and bossy and all, but never had she done a favor for him. "T-thank you Tiamat." "Think nothing of it her," her main head said. One of the four minor heads winked at El Toro. "Aha!" he muttered to himself. "That's the head that loves me. The green head with heavy black eyebrows. Tiamat 5." For the first time he took a good look at Tiamat's heads while her main head was looking down the road. He noticed that Tiamat 2 seemed to look wherever Tiamat 1 looked. But Tiamat 3, 4, and 5 just looked around randomly. Except for Tiamat 5. She was gazing at El Toro with obvious love. But El Toro never worried long about anything. He was blunt and always to the point. "Tiamat?" he said. Tiamat 1 and Tiamat 2 swiveled around to look at him. "What?" "Your five heads confuse me. What if one head angered the other four? Would they cut it off?" Several of Tiamat's heads rolled their eyes. "Think about this," she said. "Have you ever tripped and stumbled?" "Sure," he said. "Did you cut off your foot?" "Uh... no... but my foot always does what I tell it. Tripping wouldn't be deliberate. What if one of my hands tried to strangle me? Wouldn't I need to cut off my hand?" "Do you seriously think one of your hands would try to strangle you?" "Uh... no, I guess not." Tiamat grinned at him. "I know what this is all about. You think one of my heads is in love with you, don't you?" "Yes." "Did you ever think that maybe I am a little bit in love with you and so one of my heads expresses that when you are around? Meanwhile, my other heads have other business to attend to. I'll tell you when you should start worrying. When all five of my heads love you." And just to emphasize her point, Tiamat swung all five of her heads around to stare directly at El Toro. It was an intimidating sight, the five dragon heads looking at him, and El Toro stepped back a pace. Tiamat laughed and after a moment El Toro did, too, although his laugh was choked and a bit odd, just like his twisted smile that never seemd quite right. The next morning, the group woke up to discover a large march of footsteps coming from the road outside. Kar yawned and woke up walking over towards the window finding several green nation solder platoons marching towards the Imperial Road. "What? Green nationalist? What are they doing on the Imperial Road?" The Green Nationalists were singing loudly as they marched... We had a good home but we left You're right! Green Army is the toughest and best You're right! "They look pretty tough," Kar said. Jiro nodded. "Yeah. I wonder what they are doing here? Is this turning into a three-way fight? Not likely. I'll bet they have thrown in with one side or the other. So the big question is: Are the Greens with the Reds, are the Greens with the Blues, or are the Greens fighting for themselves?" "The Green Nation relay soley on divisions and certian legions. They are actually fighting for themselves but rumor has it that the Green Nation has a deal with the Blues that would create a merger whenever dangers are high and big." he explained. Kovu looked over cover watching the soldiers as well. His only guess and thought came to his mind. "Like the Dark King." he said. Sergeant Fike was at the front of the Green Plattoon known as Fike's Fighters. "Halt! We'll rest here for ten minutes. Smoke 'em if you got 'em." The Green soldiers sprawled on the grass by the side of the road. Some of them lay back and immediately fell asleep. The ability to catch a ten minute nap at a moment's notice was a useful skill for a soldier. Sergeant Fike looked at his map. He should be near the rendezvous point where he was supposed to meet officers from the Blue Army. He was a little nervous about trusting a former enemy, but the stakes were high. With Kraman and the Red Army on the move now destroying farms and villages, something had to be done. It wasn't so bad when the Red Army was pillaging the Blue nation and the Green nation watched, but two weeks ago the Red Army had entered Green territory and burned two villages and a number of farms, killing the men and taking the women and older children as slaves. Something had to be done. The Red Army was twice as big as either the Green Army or the Blue Army. But together, maybe the Blues and the Greens could stop the Reds. "Zzwha? Hey!" he called out jumping up. The group were all starteled and all jumped up now knowing that half the green forces heard his yell. Fike looked over and marched towards the group who were now surrounded. "This isn't what it looks like!" said Kar. "We was just passing along!" Fike raised his hand gesturing the soldiers to lay down their swords. "Then if your not spys then you might not know what were doing." said Fike, his deep voice and different accent made him almost intimidating. The group looked at each other and said that they already knew. "Well... It's none of my problems. Red Imperialists are my most concern for now. But if the Black Clans could lend us their power we might have a chance against them." Jiro and Kar looked up straight at him knowing they was talking about their clan. "Have we already went over this? The clans are at a neutral stance after the previous war a thousand years ago. Our powers may be great but were nothing compared to the Blues. Because of the war between Green and Blue and Yellow and Red the clans were used nothing as tools of war! We will not go into this whole fiscaro again!" yelled Kar. Fike twirled his hair in amusement smiling like nothing happened. "Times changed. There's something different in the Red Army now... Have you noticed the stances they achived? Did you see something in their eyes no one has? Oh and prehaps you didn't see their new zombie minions. People with stone brains." "Stone brains, stone hearts," Fike said. "What's the difference? The point is they will kill you immediately and efficiently. They have no mercy. Women, children, old people, they all fall before the swords of the Stone Zombies." "Yeah?" Kar said. "Well I guess war is hell, isn't it?" 'You're lucky you weren't drafted, kid," Fike said. "But I can see why you weren't. Too skinny." Kar flared up. "What?! They don't have the draft in my land. We volunteer. And maybe that's what I will do. But first I have to make sure my friends are safe." Fike tossed away his cigarette butt. "You can walk along with us. We'll keep you little babies safe." "No thanks," Kar said. "We'll do just fine by ourselves. Anyway, good luck fighting the Reds." "Keep your mouth shut about that one," Fike said. "I know you aren't spies, but just because you heard us talking don't mean you can go blabbing what you heard to anyone." "We'll keep quiet about it," Kar said. "Hey don't worry about anything love. If anyone gives you trouble me and Moy will knock them down~!" she said. Kar smiled and looked back at her kissing her. "I can tell." Memly sat besides Jiro and leaned on his shoulder. "Well at least we can get some sleep~!" she said. "Yeah.. Wouldn't want to be too tired on the road." replied Jiro. Large, slimey vaugly humanoid creatures were heading for his castle. They were walking through a green meadow that was getting less green by the hour. The grass died as they stepped on it, flowers melted they even walked through trees. "I know what those are!" Dark King screamed "Those are Acid Mutants, the most unstoppable things in all of Hiro!" And for the first time in his extremly long life he felt afraid "...And they're heading right for my castle!" The Dark King paced back and forth, wondering what he could do, until suddenly he recalled the name of a wizard - Grenfork. Grenfork was a Water Wizard, meaning he specialized in liquids, specifically flow, turbulence, transformation, and weather. "Aha!" the Dark King muttered. "These Acid Mutants would be most closely aligned with the liquid realm. Grenfork is the expert I must seek." He called for his Message Man, Master James. Master James stumbled in, rubbing sleep from his eyes because it was 3 am. "Yes, sire?" "There is a wizard named Grenfork and I want him to come here immediately. Do you have any of the Seeker Ravens ready?" "I have three, SIre." "Use all three. This is vitally important that I see Grenfork. Send one East, one West, and one South. Can you be sure they will find him?" "Yes, sire, unless he is in the North?" "He hates cold weather. I remember that about him." Master James looked around. "But, Sire. It is snowing here. Will he still come?" The Dark King suddenly realized that time was running out. The Acid Mutants were too close. Did he even have time to contact Grenfork? And yet, Grenfork was a powerful wizard. He could transport himself instantaneously if necessary--" A puff of smoke appeared in the room and rapidly grew into the shape of a man, then became the actual man. "Grenfork!" the Dark King exclaimed. Grenfork was a tall, dressed in a traditional wizard's cone hat which made him look even taller. His hat and his robe were dark blue and covered with tiny silver stars that twinkled. "Hello, Kraman," Grenfork said. "I am aware of your problem." Kraman, the Dark King, almost felt like bowing before Grenfork he was so impressed with the wizard's ability of far sight, but he stopped short of that. After all, he was king, Grenfork was only a wizard. Then he shivered to thing that Grenfork would know his thoughts. Grenfork chuckled. "Calm yourself, Kraman. I've long since learned not to take too seriously what people think about me. But... this Acid Mutant problem is deadly serious. I'll need to work a powerful spell and I need to work it quickly. You must help me with a few supplies. Here is what I will need from you..." Fike Sharpened his spear tip as he walked. His mind was clouded with thoughts. There was a huge amount of red recons around this area. But for some reason, he couldn't find a trace of any enemies. "Everyone... Stop. Were being watched." he said Shina coughed a bit and pouted. "I believe we would know they were here by our senses." said Moy. "Yeah. No human can never evade our senses~!" replied Shina. Fike turned back knowing full well this wasn't human. "That's the problem. No HUMAN nor any other anthro can hide their scent. This is something different...." 'Acid mutants!' He thought "Not much," Moy said. "We once lived near the ocean but that was when I was a small child." "This is far worse than any ocean creature," Fike said. "I think it's Acid Mutants." Shina looked puzzled. "I never heard of any such thing. How do they attack?" "Usually they just lie in wait," Fike said. "They resemble a pool of shallow water perfectly. But when the victim steps in... well he doesn't step back out." Moy shivered. "But they just lie there? How do they move?" Fike looked grim. "They move just like you would expect. They flow across the ground like water. The difference is they can flow uphill as well as downhill. But usually they only move at night to avoid detection. During the day they lie around like puddles and look as innocent as they can." Kar had been gazing thoughtfully at Sergeant Fike. "It sounds like you've had some experience with these creatures?" "Oh yes," Fike said. "This isn't the first time I've seen them. There was an attack of Acid Mutants in the mountains of Uranalia, many miles West of here. Their strategy of dissolve and digest was very terrifying. We lost some good men. The only way we could stop the Acid Mutants was by dumping wagonloads of lime on the puddles." "Neutralization!" Kar said. "That's right," Fike said. "I see you know some chemistry. Unfortunately, although my army carries many supplies, wagons filled with lime is not one of them." In a tower of the Dark King's castle, Grenfork was lighting candles and sprinkling a blue powder on the floor while the Dark King watched from the shadows. Grenfork looked at him sharply. "Where are those toads I wanted?" "I have men out looking," the Dark King said. "It's strange that on any other night there would be toads in abundance, but now, on the night we need them, nothing." "Such are the fickle workings of Fate," Grenfork said. "Always putting sand in the gears and trying to blow the candles out." As if something was listening, a little gust of wind came through the tower window and made the candles flicker. "Kraman... Something's here...." she said. The Dark King stood up and searched the room cautiously. "Was we followed?" he asked. Fike stood perfectly still as he watched the forest with caution. His eyes narrowed as he focused on a deformation of one of the Acid Mutants. "Oh hell no!" he yelled grabing his spear running. "EVERYONE! RUN NOW!" he screamed. Jiro and everyone else began to run after Fike worried. Kar catched up to him panting. "Fike what the hell's going on!?" "The Acid Mutants are evolvivng! They changed into gods know what! I only saw it few times! They can change into anything! Almost nothing can kill them!" Jiro looked back and see that the Acid Mutants jumped on the roads and started to chase the army. "DOn't they die?!" he asked. "No! Not so easily! The only thing that could kill them is with a Golden Arrow! But everything in Hiro is probably useless now since Kraman stole all of the artifacts!" Memly slowed down at the pace with Jiro with the idea in her head she had when she first met Jiro. "Jiro! Do you think that my story was actually real!? The Golden Arrow remember it!" The Acid was quikly changing it was forming into something out of H.P. Lovecraft! The acid formed a face the looked like a skull and a body like a skeleton... It grew a few feet high, almost as tall as a one story apartment of the Imperial City. Many think of it as a giant or oger but it was more nastier. But Fike was no stranger to bone-slamming. When he was a kid he and a friend had scoured the mountains for the legbones of bears, and then used them as clubs in their mock wars. Fike knew what it took to break a bone - a strong man with an axe. "Issue axes to all the troops!" Fike yelled. "It's the only way to stop this thing! Aim your blows at the joints! If we do it right this skeleton monster will fall apart like a tinkertoy project built by a kid with low muscle strength." The End! Everyone in the green group took out mostly large axes, but a few brung out hammers. Breaking joints wouldn't be a problem except for the acid and drips from it. The skeleton giant has a giant hammer covered in acid that could completely destroy a man instantly. They had to move quick so they wouldn't get caught. "Oka! You take left flank! Saki you take right!" Fike yelled out as he shot his arrows at him. The giant grew irritated and started to walk towards Fike as the two groups ran around the giant and began to smash at his joints. There were a few cracks but they weren't enough, The acid mutant now even more aggitated, swung his hammer around trying to smash the soldiers. But with no prevail, and gave the soldiers a counterattack. Jiro took out an arrow and a chorcal. He began enchanting it with exlpsive magic that will only react to flame and ignite in a few seconds. "Moy. Would you do the honors?" he asked. Moy smiled as be breathed on the chorcal with his fire breath. Tying it quickly so he won't get badly burned, Jiro took strung his bow back with his explosive chorcal and aimed at the giant's hip joint. For a moment, it looked like there was no damage, then when the monster stepped forward again he was dragging his left leg. "You got him!" Moy said. "Now if we can hit the other leg he won't be able to walk!" Moy breathed fire on another piece of chorcal and Jiro quickly strung his bow and aimed. Fike looked back and amazed smiling at their succsess. "Way to go Jiro." he said complimenting him. Meanwhile the Dark King was watching the scene..."Curses." He said "I'm at a moot point. My own enimies are the only ones who can stop the Acid Mutants." The Dark King watched the wizard Grenfork try another spell. "Drat!" Grenfork said. "I can't seem to get the proportions right!" "Grenfork, I was counting on you," the Dark King said. "But look here in my crystal how Fike and his friends are stopping the Acid Mutants." "Perhaps you should form a temporary truce with Fike?" "Never!" the Dark King said. "In a way it's a good thing that he has to spend his time and energy battling the Acid Mutants. That can only help me in the long run. Assuming the Acid Mutants don't attack my castle, of course." Grenfork strolled around pondering. "There is one solution.... And I know you won't like it..." he said. "WHAT?! Tell me now!" "We reform the Yellow Kingdom Alliance and have them fight with us!" "ARE YOU MAD?! 1000 years ago our kind waged war with them as they tried to take over Hiro!" "My Lord?" Grenfork asked nervously "OMG! I killed the Dark King!" "I'm not dead!" The King shouted "Go get the defibulator!" The defibulator was brought, first aid was performed, and soon the Dark King was sitting up sipping tea. "Anything else, my Lord?" his servant Scranton asked. "No, Scranton. I just want to rest. But awaken me immediately if anything happens." "Yes, sir" Scranton bowed and backed out of the room. Ten minutes later Scranton was in the kitchen talking to a man in a black cape at the back door. "Go immediately to Fike. Tell him the Dark King is bed-ridden. Now would be a good time to attack him." "It will be done!" said the man in the black cape, a double agent named Mistfire. Scranton rubbed his hands together. "Soon..." he muttered. "Soon..." Scranton's plans were almost into motion. But what was his purpose? Meanwhile, the Green Nationalists and the group of heros finally reached towards the far end of the road where they can spot the humongous plateu connected Imperial City. 10 mile radius across the entire city and castle. Home of the powerful Blue Nation. But from they way the blues blindness in fear made them turned, it looks like nothing but a giant cell. She found herself wandering in the forest serching for the perfect fruit tree, She didn't want apples, didn't want cherries, didn't want peaches, What did she want? Suddenly, she saw the answer growing on a tree by the river. "Of course!" Said she "Pomegranites!" She plucked one and broke it open to get to the seeds inside. She began walking back to Jiro nibbling her fruit along the way, Than she notced something was wrong with the river. The fish were dying in it.... Mistfire found Fike encamped in the Whispering Woods and gave him the message. Fike's eyes lit up. He knew how the Dark King personally mangaed his army and castle. With the Dark King weakened by illness, his castle and army would be weakened as well. Fike decided to attack the castle that very night while the Dark King's minions were still upset about his heart attack. He gave Misfire a gold coin and a message: "Tell Scranton that the owl flies early and the rooster smells blood." Misfire whirled his black cape around his face and faded into the darkness. Behind him he heard Fike shouting orders to his men. Everyone around him cheered for Fike and almost every single trooper agreed. Except Kovu, Ardliana and the rest of the group. Ardliana. "Wait! Your abbandoning the Imperial City's call!? They need you! My father needs you!" she yelled. Fike looked down at the princess, eyes narrowed. "As you may well know princess Ardliana, when did the Blue Nation come to our aid when the Reds crushed our forward defenses? Where were the Blues when all out supplies were gone!? Where were the Blues when our own land was dying! I mean look! The waters are tainted, the animals are dying and the trees are withering! The Blues have powerful magic to heal this all up and now their worried about their own sake and powers to survive!" Memly almost felt like she was about to fall. Trees withering? Water tainted? The tree she picked the fruit from wasn't dying at all, but the water, and fish and everything else is suffering? Was it the acid mutants? "J-Jiro... Something's wrong..." she said. Kovu came up to support Ardliana. "And even so! Where did you get this message of him from!? Someone from inside or a spy? Either way your walking into a trap!" he yelled out. "The trees, and the fish are dying." She said The Dark King had finally drifted off into a fitful sleep filled with dreams of demons and death. Scranton peeked through the doorway and watched his master whimper and moan in his sleep. "Dream, you evil bastard," Scranton muttered. "I wish this night to be your final sleep." Scranton returned to the kitchen where Misfire was finishing off a hot mug of broth. "Does he sleep well?" Misfire asked. "The heart attack has frightened him silly. I have spread rumors among the castle guards that he may die." "Good!" Misfire said. "They will be unsure of their future. I'll go outside and await Fike's arrival. Just before the attack you will raise the cry that the king has died. In the confusion Fike will attack and possibly the castle guards, believing the king no longer lives, will surrender. If everything goes well the castle will be won without a fight." "What about the Dark King?" Scranto said. Misfire smiled. "Did you put the powder I gave you in his tea?" "Yes. Was it poison?" "No," Misfire said. "Poison wouldn't work on him because of his magical protections. This powder only freezes his will so he can take no actions for 12 hours. He will be unable to speak or move. To an observer he will appear to be dead. When did he drink the tea?" "About two hours ago." "Then we should see the effects soon. You check on his royal darkness and I'll go outside to find Fike." "And I need you to alert the guards when the time comes. Can you do it?" she said. "Of course mistress. It shall be done." Fike motioned his men to silence. The castle lay before them. "This is like taking candy from a baby," Fike muttered. Misfire appeared from the shadows. "Are you ready?" he whispered. "Yes," Fike replied. "Has Scranton told the guards that the Dark King is dead?" "Yes. There is much confusion in the castle." Fike motioned to his men and they scurried like ninjas through the darkness to enter the castle. Pathetica lay in the Dark King's bed. The Dark King was hidden in a secret chamber where Manda kept watch over him and waited for his 12 hours of paralysis to end. The captain of the Dark King's guards pushed his way into the bedroom of the Dark King while Scranton truied to prevent him. "His highness is dead! Do not defile the death chamber!" But Pathetica sat up, her Dark King disguise looking very authentic, and said, "I am dead? Strange that I do not feel dead." Scranton's jaw fell open. The Captain of the Guard turned to him and drew his sword. "Traitor! Why did you tell the guards that the king was dead?" But before Scranton could answer there were yells from the courtyard. "We are being attacked!" Pathetica's disguise fooled Scranton and the trick was very cunning. "Green soldiers are attacking the castle! All soldiers form around the walls!" yelled the captian. One soldier grabbed hold of Scranton before he ran. "Your staying here." Meanwhile, back on the road, Jiro and the group continued their journey towards the Imperial City. They were close. Ardilana was still enraged at Fike and his soldiers however. "Bastards! Why couldn't they leave well enough alone with their so called Glory!?" she yelled. Suddenly she stepped on a trap! She quickly began to fall, as if the world around was sinking! She grabbed a root and hung on for dear life! Below her she could hear a hissing and clicking noise. She knew immediately that she had triggered a devilbug trap. The giant devilbug insects dug pits in the ground which they concealed with twigs and leaves glued together with their sticky saliva. When an animal walked over the trapdoor it collapsed and dropped the animal into the pit with the devilbug. The clicking noise was the devilbug's jaws snapping together in hungry anticipation. The root that Ardilana was clinging to began to pull loose from the dirt and she fell a few inches lower. She felt the devilbug's antenna brush her feet. "Help!" she screamed. "ARDALINA!" he yelled as he dived in with his knife out. He couldn't see though he can see using magical senses seeing the bug's aura. With one jab he struck the bug straight in the head. The devilbug made a loud roar and squeal and reverted back into the Earth dying slowly as the sand pushes the both of them out. Ardalina put her arms around Kovu's neck, hugging him tightly. "Oh thank you! Thank you! You are my hero!" "It's alright now," Kovu said and patted her back. She kept hugging him and he felt the warmth of her and changed from patting to rubbing. Then suddenly they were locked in a long deep kiss. When it was over they looked into each other's eyes and knew things had changed. "Kovu!" Ardalina whispered and rested her head on his chest. Kovu nuzzled her hair and drank in the wonderul smell of her. Blue and beautiful as an angel of the ocean. He couldn't help it, she was just too wonderful. She stared deeplu into his eyes and kissed him. "Kovu... Im sorry for doubting you.... I should have trusted you a bit more." she said. Kovu rubbed her back and kissed her and soothed her. "Its ok Ardalina. I have no regrets about any of this except for joining that bastard." he replied. In the castle there was chaos. Swords clanged against swords. No one was sure if the Dark King was alive or dead. Fike had managed to break into the Dark King's bedroom, but soon it was discovered that the so-called "Dark King' in the bed was really Pathetica in disguise. "Search the castle!" Fike cried. "He has to be somewhere!" But no good search could be made while the Castle Guards were still battling so ferociously to defend the castle. When Fike discovered Scranton's dead body in a back room then he knew the secret of his spies had been discovered. Perhaps winning the castle would not be as easy as he first thought. "Finally! Your death shall come pathetic green soldier!" she yelled taking out her dagger. When she got close to his face with her knife at his throat, she almost gasped as she stared deep into his hateful face. "It... It couldn't be you could it....?" Fike was just as confused as she is but still held his anger. "Who are you creature!?" he yelled. The Dark King woke up. He was stuffed into a clothes closet. "What the Hell?" he said and tumbled out into the room. He could smell blood. Was the castle under attack? He felt weak but he managed to walk out into the hallway. There were several dead bodies lying on the floor. Okay, he thought, something has happened. 'I guess I was attacked.' he thought. Back with Fike and Pathetica. "Oh really? Your an assassian working for Kraman and say you mean no harm?!" he yelled. Pathetica looked into the eyes of the captian and almost shivered. Fike.... Pathetica's childhood friend. "Yes..." she said. "Then who are you?!" ".......Patherica....." "Pathetica!" Fike said. "Not the little Griffin girl that lived next door to me in the Eastside slums?" "Yes," she said. "It's me. I loved you because you would play with me even though I was a Griffin girl." "Yes," Fike said. "I remember now. In those slums Anthros and Humans lived side-by-side. It was only after I joined the Green Army that my attitudes changed. But Pathetica, you look nothing like the little girl you once were." "I know," she said. "When Griffins mature they go through a metamorphosis. But my heart is still the same, Fike." "Fike you can't be here... Please... I don't want them killing you..." she said. "But what about you? Your working for the enemy! Yet their the most crulest ever under Kraman's rule!" he replied. She felt great displeasure explaining a horrible past she had when they were seperated. In her new village when she was still a girl. She was rescued by Kraman and his soldiers during that terrifying day. Though she was not very enthusiastic about it. "One of our men has found the dark king!" He said Pathetica grabbed Fike's arms. "Fike! Don't hurt him! Please?" Fike shook her off. "You're crazy! It's the Dark King! Probably the most evil man who ever walked the face of the earth! How could I not hurt him?" "He's not all bad. He saved my life." Fike looked at her. "You don't owe him anything. It's probably because of him that your life was endangered in the first place. Later you can tell me the whole story, but right now I have some king hunting to do." Fike gestured to his soldiers. "Come on, men! The Dark King is trapped like a rat in his lair! Let's finish him off!" "What?! But! The poison should had weaken him!" a soldier yelled. Yet Kraman was shivering a bit, he was still weak but able to fight yet can't raise to defend himself. "Grrr... Godsdamn you ticks!" he yelled. "I'm not one to run away from a fight," the Dark King said, "but the odds are too much against me." He reached into his pocket for the little bag of powder that his favorite wizard had given him long ago. With his teeth he ripped open the drawstring of the bag and then with a quick gesture spilled it's contents into the air. The powder ignited with a flash of brilliant light. The soldiers fell back, temporarily blinded. When they could see again... the Dark King was gone. Beyond the outskirts of the castle, Fike was being carried off by Pathetica. His leg was injured during the blast. She laid him down on the ground but landing on his leg. He gave out a yell and Pathetica covered his mouth. "Shh Fike quiet! They might be patrolling now..." she said. Fike was angry and desperate. The whole plan had failed! Kraman was still alive and everything was ruined! "I can't believe it... So far to get this win.... To end everything.... I guess that was a flaw too...." he said almost crying. The Dark King let out a long exale and collapsed with a faint on the forest floor below "Thank (pant) the (puff-weeze) gods I made it out of there safely!" He choked through his fear After the Dark King Kraman rested a moment, he knew what he must do. Get some help. He needed a good wizard and a lot of gold. The gold was no problem. He had a secret stash of treasure hidden in the mountains. But which wizard? Not Grenfork, because he was too timid. Grenfork knew a few water spells, but he didn't have anough aggression in him. Kraman snapped his fingers. "Aha!" he muttered. "I know just the wizard who could, and probably would, help me regain my castle." Pathetica lifted her claw and held onto Fike's cheek soothing him. Fike looked up and stared into Pathetica's eyes. He can see memories again. Memories of both of them. He even remembered the time once when they 'accidentally' kissed. Fike lifted his hand and grasped onto Pathetica's and rubbed her claw. "Path... " he said quietly. Pathetica crawled over towards Fike closer to hear him. "Yes?" she asked. The griffen pressed her beak against Fike's mouth, the sensation was overwelming! The two just stood there for like 3 or 5 seconds just drinking each other in. They broke like a flower sheding it's petals in slow motion Meanwhile the Dark King had no energy to continue to search for a wizard, he just lay on the forest floor. He began to hallucenate in his weakend state. In this dream like state he found himself falling thourgh darkness into an endless pit! In his dream of the endless pit the Dark King realized his life was empty and meaningless. What was the point of getting power if he was just going to die in the end and lose it all? Then in the darkness he had an idea, like a little point of light -- he needed a queen. He needed a son to inherit his power. That would give it meaning. But he must be wise in his search for a queen. This time he would not go off on foolish chases after young zebra girls. He needed a woman who was wise and mature and really wanted to be his queen. The Dark King was weak in his state even trying to think of a true woman for him. Yet, everyone feared him except his own kind. Maybe one of the red womans could be his bride. But no, he didn't want to think about that. He wanted to think of a change instead of same purebred kinds, so he set his eyes on the anthros. Though he was feared by them as well. For instance, I had no idea there were thousands of troops in the Dark King's castle. I thought maybe two hundred at most. So you can see our mental pictures are different. The solution is just to be more specific when you describe something new if there is something important about it. And I don't mind if you do a summary now and then so we will all be on the same story. And you can always edit my posts to change things a little. Also, if you want the plot to go in a particular direction, just put that in brackets. I'm really just trying to respond to what's already written, not cause any trouble. Meanwhile Fike and the griffen Pathetica were sitting in the grass smelling the flowers like two lovesick kids. Fike's soldiers grumbled, "Okay, I know the old man is wounded and needs to recover, but what's with him and that griffen?" Meanwhile, Jiro and the others finally reached the Imperial City gates. The walls were covered in soldiers running back and forth guarding the gates and city. The guard down on the ground who saw the group come up stepped right in front of them. "Halt! Who goes there?" he yelled. Ardalina, dirtied and muddied stepped forward. "Oh ancestors! My lady! What happened to you?" "The Princess has reterned!" Shouted the gaurds "Open the gates at once!" "I have a friend with me," Ardalina said. Kovu stepped out of the shadows. "But my lady!" the guard protested. "We are to allow no strangers to enter!" "I speak for him," Ardalina said. "You will allow him to enter with me." The guard stood attended and nodded. "Of course my lady. Sorry for the inconvinience." he said. The Guard walked over to the gate and knocked on the large gate. In a minute, the gate opened up and the bridge leading towards the city was revealed. The gates on the otherside opened as well, and it lead straight towards the marketplace. "Your father will surely be glad you have arrived." Ardalina sighed and lowered her head. "Yes... My... father." she said seldomly. Kovu walked over and patted her on the shoulder. Path and Fike both sat their for a long time just staring in their eyes. Path was still sitting on his lap, and still soothing him. "I missed you so... This feels like, such a dream..." she said. Thunder crashed all around him but he couldn't stop. Suddenly he heard the howls of Anthro wolves. "Oh Gods!" Dark King said aloud "Please tell me I'm not in the land of Dalma's children!" "I hope... I hope they don't hurt me...." he sighed and sat down. But his coat, cape, and all other of his leading heavy uniform was weighing him down.. He didn't want to give up his honor, but he had to in order to live. All of it came off except for his royal clothing. He sat back down again inside a tree with a huge hole in it. At least it provided some shelter. Beyond the fields, an acid mutant makes its way towards Kraman. 'The Dark King, no more?' It thought to itself. It turned into a goo like puddle and slowly crept up towards him. The Dark King sighed and laid his head back. He wondered why he HAD taken this throne in the first place. His father placed him on it without any full reason why. He was told it would bring honor to the old Red National King Darku, but what about honor for himself? He was taught only what he knew. Than one brother Rummer picked up a scent with his senistive nose..."I detect a red stick." He said "Just one?" she asked. Rummer nodded and growled. "Yes. And its the Dark King Kraman." he replied. Natalie poked her nose out and sniffed the air. She was taken aback as she smelled something else. "Anything else? I smell a stinky dirty smell." "What will we do with him after we catch him?" Natalie asked "We'll capture him!" Rummer said "Hold him prisnor in our lair and wait for the rebel forces to pick him up!" "Shoulden't we just kill him?" Anouther brother Tugger asked "It is not our call to make." Rummer said Rummer and the wolves slowly reached towards the Dark King's position, spotting him in sight. "Because, the people will still think he's alive and they'll go in a frantic. The Reds will go on a blood raging rampage to get their king back from someone who doesn't have him." Rummer explained. But something caught their eye as some green substance slowly oozes towards Kraman. "Oh damnit! Acid Mutants!!" squealed Natalie. "If that Acid mutant sticks around here for too long it will destroy the forest!" "But what about the Dark King?" asked Natalie. Rummer began to run into the forest until she spoke. "Forget him! That acid mutant will take care of him!" he said. Natalie shooked her head and ran to grab his arm. "You KNOW what acid mutants do! Are we gonna let suffering be his undoing instead of death?! Remember everything exists in Hiro, even the villians and corrupt leaders!" "All right Natalie." He said "You and I will capture the dark king, the rest of you brothers and sisters WARN THE FOREST!" The wolves spread through the forest like wildfire Natalie's brothers and sisters ran out into the forest howling a distress call. They spread far warning the entire forest of an acid mutant. Even one acid mutant would burn the forest. Just as the mutant reached closer, Natalie shot made spears with fire on them at it. The mutant seemed to be weaken by the fire as it struck it right in the chest. "Rummer! Fire! Kill it with fire!" Rummer ran forth and picked up the Dark King and rushed to Safe Haven Kraman, the Dark King, was taken to Safe Haven, a small treetop village where he was taken into. Kraman looked like he was passed out till he woke up in his bed a few hours later. "Well Dark King. Now it looks like the tides had turned for you." said Rummer. Natalie kept on tending Kraman's sickness unaware what it actually was ment to do. At first, he was feeling better but more weak then he was before. "Don't try anything funny. Once the forest is clear of that acid mutant were getting the rebels and other nations to pick you up." he said. Kraman looked around and sighed. "What matters? The acid mutants will kill us anyways. Should had kill me instead of sparing me." he said. Rummer was a bit surprised seeing him act like this. Of course, not many people had ever wanted to face acid mutants. "How long will this pregnancy take anyway?" Jiro asked "Longer than nine monthes I'm afraid." Memly said "Zebras have a longer pregnancy than some other mammals because our infants must be able to run as soon as they are born." "I figured that's the way it goes for regular animal-zebra but I thought you anthros were a step up from that." "Anthro or not we are zebra none the less." Memly said as she arranged flowers in mane "Back in prehistoric times before the line between anthro and beast were as firm as they are today, carnivore anthros like wild dogs and hyenas would hunt the herbivore anthros." Suddenly there was a long series of wolf howels as if every wolf were picking up a signal! The Imperial City also heard the howls. The guards streamed onto the walls in hope to spot anything that was a bother. Obviously there was. There was another wave of Red Imperium on the attack. But this time they looked angrier then ever and more hateful. El Toro and Tiamat leading the group probably heard what happened back at the capital and spread it around to the soldiers. Chants and remarks were amongst the crowd of soldiers. "Men, tonight we'll strike again! That wall will no longer hold the firepower of out siege warfare! Either we take the city or we die with honor by Kraman! All hail the Dark Lord!" shouted Tiamat. Every red soldier lifted their weapon and chanted. "All hail the Dark Lord! Dark King Kraman! Dark King Kraman!" In the High Tower, the Blue Nation leader's castle, Ardalina stands before the throne room, awaiting to see her father. "Ardalina, you have returned?" he asked in a booming voice. Ardalina nodded and lowered her head. Kovu was right behind her to make sure she's alrght. There was a bit of darkness surrounding the area. "Yes father I have.... And I believe we should do what should had been done a thousand years ago..." she said. The king, her father Akorosh, looked down at her daughter. "And that would be?" "To put an end to this war. The way Foonar had wanted it." The End! © Copyright 2008 MS, Twiga, Steve Ellen, (known as GROUP). All rights reserved.
