| [Introduction]
Stardate [-28]6171.11 Fifteen hours ago, the space station Orion IV was attacked by an unknown enemy. Key members of Starfleet met at the station only hours prior to attend the annual Admiral's Banquet. Among those officers was Captain Kaiden Oliver, a somewhat minor attendee to the soirée considering the other guests. Captain Oliver and his crew had days before visited the recently discovered planet Omega 3, a planet that showed no signs of life but echos of a previous civilization. One perhaps even outdating Starfleet altogether. He took with him from the expedition an artifact, one he planned on presenting to the Admiralty at the banquet. His crew, personnel on the Nova-class starship The Ember, were not told anything other than that the artifact was of great importance... the attack proved him correct. Unknown ships exited warp speed undetected and fired upon the station. Their weaponry was advanced, and a quarter of the docked fleet - it's most prized and superior ships - were destroyed instantly. The ensuing battle lasted twelve minutes. Captain Oliver, determined to save who he could, ordered his daughter Kaylee to take the artifact and leave the station, promoting her to captain above the first officer. The starship Ember is now adrift in space with no bearings, an unsettled crew, and a strange piece of a world long past. There has been no further contact with the space station Orion IV. :Rules: Welcome, cadet. As a member of Starfleet you are required to adhere to certain rules or you may be stripped of your title. I. You are allowed two characters, but may play only one if you wish. Since this will multiply our crew rapidly, I will only be allowing a maximum of six people at this time. When creating your characters, please begin with a short biography, and a link to a picture of an actor you think would best fit your character. The starship Ember is a surveyor class ship that at its best holds up to eighty crew members. You will have to choose your rank and job. We need archeologists, pilots, medics, linguists, scientists, engineers, etc. If someone else makes a character with a job you want... take that job anyway, give them a hand. Of course, it would be a bit off balance if everyone was a pilot, the object is to have fun. If you need ideas for a race follow this link: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Races II. I would really love it if this campfire does not die out. Please try to make an addition in a week at the latest. I understand life gets in the way and will offer more time or allow you to skip yourself if you are stuck, but please try not to jam up the water works. Incongruities and plot holes, I can handle. [:)] The fire fizzling out... not so much. III. This is rated +13 and can therefore be interpreted as a PG 13 movie. However I am personally not a fan of extreme gore, sex, or swearing, and hope you will recognize my rank as Captain and my ability to edit any additions I feel are too graphic. I hope this is a campfire people of many ages will enjoy reading. IV. On the subject of additions, they can be as long as you like but I ask you try and keep them to a few paragraphs at a minimum, something worth reading. V. In lieu of interpreting all these rules as a burden, try to remember that campfires, stories, and Star Trek... are all about having fun! Soupdog, out. |
Name: Kaylee Oliver Race: Human Rank/Position: Captain Age: 23 Appearance: http://www.hairstylegossip.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Kristen-Bell-2012-Long... Background: This was Kaylee's first expedition with her father and her second time out in space, only recently graduated from Starfleet's A&A course. The A&A (abbreviation for archaeology and anthropology specialist) trained her in and about cultures and civilizations known to the United Federation of Planets. It didn't train her for what has just occurred. Personality: Kaylee is exceptionally smart and excels at working out puzzling situations. She is equally unsure of herself, both in appearance and general adeptness. <<------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->> Name: Syvin (Vulcan's rarely use surnames) Race: Half human, half Vulcan Rank/Position: First Officer Age: 27 Appearance: http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/17300000/Spock-zachary-quintos-spock-1731... big pic! Anyway, before you judge, please point out any other actor besides the great Leonard Nemoy who can look good... in this haircut. Background: Syvin did not grow up on Vulcan, instead living on earth until he was fourteen. He was then sent back to his homeworld where he learned what every Vulcan can and should. He excelled in the Vulcan Institute of Defensive Arts and was accepted into the Vulcan Science Academy, an honor which he denied, instead traveling back to earth and joining Starfleet. He then proceeded to graduate at the top of his class in Advanced Tactical Training, a curriculum for specialized tactical and intelligence operations, and one that half of all acceptants drop out of. No one is quite sure of his choices or why he was chosen for a surveying ship, but none can deny his abilities as First Officer. Race: Betazoid Rank/Position: Counselor/ Lt. Commander Age: 30 Appearance: http://i41.tinypic.com/11h7x21.jpg At 6’4”, 225 lbs, he is tall and well built, but lanky, with black eyes and black hair. His most notable feature is the almost hypnotic, penetrating intensity of his gaze. He does not smile often, but when he does, the genuine warmth he displays tends to set at ease those who might have been intimidated by his size and presence, that is, unless they have something to hide. Background: Kyrax was born and grew up on Betazed, in the Valley of Song. He was one of the rare Betazoid children whose telepathic abilities manifested early, in fact, he showed signs of possessing them from birth, and thus was not considered suitable to be genetically bonded to a future mate. Kyrax’s parents, Jana and Aszuma Ral, were of modest but comfortable means, a kind, loving couple efficiently placed among the Betazoid middle class. They became alerted to their son’s telepathic precociousness in time to get him into therapy while he was still an infant, and thus he has spent his entire life involved with various types of counseling procedures, entering the field of counseling as an adult was a natural choice. Kyrax ’s parents still live on Betazed, where they continue to maintain a successful joint business as landscape architects. Some of the most ingenious gardens in Rixx are of their design. Kyrax keeps in touch with them as when he can, and the family retains a warm, close relationship. Kyrax is the eldest child, with two sisters, identical twins, now 19, and a younger brother, 24. Kyrax’s father’s eldest brother, Arnal Jackson, (Arnal changed his lastname when he went to Starfleet Academy) was a member of Starfleet. He only made it Lt. Junior Grade, but before his death in the line of duty he used to tell wonderful stories of journeying among the stars when he would visit Kyrax’s home. He served as a Science officer with the main fleet, under Captain Alexander Bell’s command. Kyrax’s parents, blinded by their love for their ‘special’ son, could not imagine Kyrax leaving Betazed. Kyrax himself, however, had other ideas. As soon as his education on Betazed was completed, he contacted his uncle and arranged to attend Starfleet Academy. Kyrax was a Counseling major at Starfleet Academy, with an emphasis in practical therapeutic techniques applicable to life on a starship, including music, dance, and horticultural therapy. He also received extensive First Contact training. At the Academy, Kyrax finally found at least some of the acceptance he had longed for. So much diversity made the differences between him and the other sentient beings he met fade to insignificance the common goal of graduating and becoming Starfleet officers proved sufficient to outweigh them. He retained his reserved personality, but he did learn to lighten up considerably, especially on outings with his friends to the music-soaked “hot spots” in the San Francisco area. Kyrax is accomplished in several forms of primarily defensive martial arts, especially favoring an old Earth form known as Capoeira, which, in its modern form, combines moves taken from Karate and Tae Kwon Do with its more traditional maneuvers. Capoeira is derived primarily from the regions once known as Africa on Earth, rather than from the Orient. It emphasizes fast acrobatic maneuvers as feints to facilitate effective striking techniques, combined with locks, throws, and leg sweeps. Music and dancing are also taught in the traditional modes, especially in Brazil, the center of the art for the last several centuries. There, Capoeira is considered almost as much a performing art as a form of combat. Name: Zorak Race: Romulan/Vulcan/Human Rank/Position: Chief Tactical/Security Officer Age: 30 Appearance: http://www.wildsoundmovies.com/images/star_trek_evil_spock.jpg Background: Zorak was born in a Romulan lab on Romulan Prime in an effort to replace Spock by cloning him, removing most of his human DNA only to replace it with Romulan to make up for any discrepancies. He was the only test subject that lived past infancy. However, thanks to the efforts of an unknown agent the lab was destroyed, and he was then spirited away to the Federation before he was given an aging drug, and before much of the programming could be administered.. He was finally accepted into Starfleet academy after an anonymous donation in his name to the academy along with a letters of recommendation from his foster family, and Ambassador Sarek. While in the Academy, Zorak Majored in Tactics and Strategic Operations while achieving honors in Military History; Advanced Tactics and Strategies; As well as graduating with top honors at the Federation War College and graduating third in his class. Zorak is also a qualified small craft pilot, certified for everything from shuttles to Runabouts. Zorak is a student of military history and his abilities and scores in tactical simulations are nothing short of astounding. He seems to have an intuitive grasp of strategy and how to best make use of whatever resources or weapons he has available to exploit the weaknesses of his opponents. While his battle plans are extensive and cover almost every contingency, he has an uncanny ability to compensate and adjust when everything goes wrong without so much as batting an eye. Zorak consistently scores at Marksman level with hand held weapons and has achieved a 3rd degree black belt in Aikido and has earned his second degree in Kendo. Preferred weapons are either two (One in each hand), Type 2 Phaser’s or a Type 3 Phaser rifle. He is also a dangerous duelist with either a katana or with his preferred weapon, a Klingon Bat'leth. Personality: He exhibits traits mostly of a Vulcan while his Romulan side shows itself when it comes to the benefit of his crew members or in battle. Due to his traces of human DNA his calm demeanor lasts for only so long before the emotion overflows causing him to lose control. He is determined to change the way people look down on him for the origin of his birth. He also has a soft spot for children who have either no parents, or have lost their parents. Race: Banean Rank/Position: Chief Medical Officer/ Lieutenant Commander Age: 27 Appearance: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v216/JubeCube/KaylaAv.jpg Kat stands at 5'08" with shoulder length blonde hair and grey eyes. True to the Banean culture Kat has a distinctive forehead ridge similar to the combs of some species of earth birds, and a red feather like structure around her face and on her brow. She has a fuller figure than most, and as a friend of hers once said she is: Aerodynamically Curvaceous. Background: When Katellan was three her father was wrongly accused and convicted of murdering his business partner and friend, Tolmar Eegel. The two were reportedly squabbling over money the week before. As per the Banean traditions Brolen was implanted with the last memory that Tolmar had before he was murdered. There was very little evidence in the case but a witness put Brolen at the scene with the weapon in hand. Tolmar's own memory had no evidence to convict his friend. Three months after the event Brolen moved his family to Earth, seeking to get away from the harsh comments of his society and not wanting his children to grow up in a society where he was a convicted criminal even though Danethan and Samekkan were eighteen and fifteen respectively. Katellan was only three and he thought she would not understand why her father was shunned from society and why the other children were taught to dislike her. So unlike her brother and sister Katellen grew up, not on Banea, but on Earth in a small city in the southern hemisphere. Her father opened a restaurant, serving traditional Banean dishes, placing himself as the chef, her mother helped manage the restaurant, and being the head waitress. Her brother and sister helped out where they could but eventually moved on to their own things and families. Katellan developed an interest in Starfleet Medical and began the training and taking the tests to attend Starfleet Academy. After being accepted she learned that she was the first and only Banean to ever join Starfleet. By this time she was used to the people who stared at her, having either never seen or heard of Banea or its inhabitants. Two of the few friends she made whilst growing up attended Starfleet Academy. One going to Operations, a Human male by the name of Thomas Smith and the other, a Klingon female by the name of D'trine, House of Turk'deh went into Medical as well. After graduating from Starfleet Academy Katellan started as an Ensign aboard the USS River Gum an Intrepid class Starship. Beginning as a medical officer. Two years later proving her worth she was promoted to the Assistant Chief Medical officer remaining in the position for four years before the Chief Medical Officer was promoted and transferred to another medical vessel. Katellen was then offered the position and happily accepted it. Personality: At first glance Kat comes off shy until you get to know her, then she becomes a bright, bubbly person, almost flirtatious at times, especially if she likes you. She is dedicated to her job, with a friendly bedside manner. Her dedication to her job and medical training to do no harm to another person is a strength and a weakness. Sometimes she finds it very hard to say no especially to friends and can occasionally find herself in a tough spot. © Copyright 2012 Wiskers, Lonewolf - Catching up, ~~>JubeCube<~~, (known as GROUP).
